Chapter 414: 7.07.2 Old man.
It was a couple of words that Lavani Centi would never hear nor did he enjoy hearing them. "Please, there is no need to go into details, I am just here to convey my Lord’s will." Lavani didn’t deny it. He knows that there are certain people he can’t fool, and Prince comes among such people.
There is a chance that even his Lord is aware of his true gender, but it must be that fool’s respect for his servants that makes him not point this out. Or he might just be a fool that never noticed. Lavani can’t confirm this considering how cold and introverted his master appears to him.
Would he have such insight as this man called Ludwig? Lavani can’t comment on this, not until the fool opens himself to him.
"You are taking it much easier than I would have accepted, but I get it. Let’s get on the point directly." Ludwig also understood that some things are not worth talking about. So he directly requested the message.
A message he was happy to receive. "It’s wonderful that he finally gets it." He smiled, taking some money out of his desk and throwing it to Lavani, who instinctively caught it. "Enjoy yourself will ya? I know my cousin doesn’t notice how you are living."
In his attempt to understand Amir, Ludwig had gone on the deep end while trying to keep his eyes on him. So it was no wonder that he would know the state of Centi’s lifestyle. And that’s why he threw the money at him.
An action that had no real reason, he was happy and wanted to treat this messenger. ’Finally, a proper partner on this journey.’
Ludwig can’t trust this cousin of his, not so soon. But one thing that can be confirmed is that by being with Amir, he in a way got the support of his Grandfather Deimos. This added a level of protection for him and when the world eventually knows of Amir’s close relations with Deimos, the political power that Ludwig would be able to harness would be immense.
So he needs to do everything in order to get this cooperative relationship to happen. He needs that support and power which Amir ignorantly wastes away due to his odd hobbies.
And Lavani bowed at such a gift, with a smile she bowed and thanked Ludwig for his magnanimity, before then leaving the tent where Ludwig stayed.
"Lord, it seems to wait has earned us some fruitful results." the voice of Sarlen came, as he walked out from the back of Ludwig’s seat.
This would have surprised Lavani if he had been here, considering he thought that he was alone with Ludwig all this time.
"In more ways than one I might say." Ludwig had some certain suspicions, but he didn’t bother sounding them out. He just waited for a report and after reading it, he confirmed his suspicions. "He agreed to cooperate after coming out of General Vera’s office. What do you think this means."
Sarlen was no fool, there was obviously something that happened in the office that finally caused Amir’s guard to drop down, and he chose to agree to Prince Ludwig’s request. As for what it might be?
"Two things, this might have something to do with the vial, he was fearful that we might pull some trick to get it back. So after getting rid of it, he finally considered it was safe for us two to converse again." One must not forget that Ludwig had placed a tracking hex on the vial containing the drop of Blood. And no matter what method Amir might have used, he might have feared of being found out if he were to close in on Ludwig again.
"He is worried about his Knight, so it’s understandable if Prince Amir were to make such moves." Sarlen nodded in agreement to Ludwig’s first prediction before he wondered. "But master, doesn’t this mean that he had kept the vial on him all this time?"
"Yes, that is another assumption that we can come onto." Ludwig nodded, white commenting how sad it was for his brother to treat him as a thief.
It was he who gave the vial for nothing in return from Amir. Why would he go and steal it?
"The second reason he suddenly turned so amicable would be that he had done a thorough investigation on me, like I did on him." This was the most likely scenario in Ludwig’s eyes, but the issue was the precedent that this might cause considering that Amir changed his mind after meeting General Vera.
"Master, it’s true that General’s treatment of Prince Amir is kinder than how he treated you and the rest of the noblemen... he might just be..."
"No, that’s not it. General Vera doesn’t care about the royalty, he had long exceeded the realm that there is never a need for him to please any of us." Ludwig suddenly smiled. Recalling a simple fact that he had overlooked. "But it can be considered common knowledge among the higher rank officers that General Vera is sort of like a Dog for Grand General Deimos."
And if a Dog of Deimos was giving information on Ludwig to Amir. Then it would mean that this dog was also close with his master’s grandson, too close for that matter.
’This cousin of mine, using his connections to snoop on me? But this is good in a way, now I know the reach and importance of this cousin for me.’ In his eyes, General Vera will also be in his pocket once Amir agrees to cooperate with him.
Which was a very big misunderstanding. But that is what happens when people consider themself to be smart, then be actually smart.

Remira looked at this man. He appeared like a hobo with no home or goal in his life and smelled of nothing but booze.
The smell only came from his clothes, but never from his nose or mouth, a sign that he never consumed such substances to begin with.
"I don’t mean any offense, I was just looking for people that would help me." The man put down his act the moment he sat in front of Remira. Appearing humble, much different than the act that he played before.
"Then go to the office..."
"They are not listening to me. They consider me a fraud that is here to just waste their time." The man fumed, appearing a tad bit frustrated. But Remira didn’t feel pity for such an act.
If you don’t want to be treated like a fraud, then don’t act like one.
And Remira believed that she was correct about this man just like her compatriots were. This man with his skill must be a thief of some sort. Which were confirmed with the man’s next words. "I am an adventurer by profession and this is my card." The man pushed his card forward. Which was proof of his capabilities as well as his identity.
’Adventurer in this day and age?’ In the last few decades, the profession of adventurers was on its last legs.
The age of exploration had come to an end and there was nothing left to discover besides exploring some dangerous zones. Which too had been under the control of major governments and organizations as of this point.
As for the adventurers themselves?
Most of them ended up becoming Mercenaries while others, just chose to retire and take up residency among the barracks and become trainers for the next generation of soldiers.
However, the ones who still carried the card of adventurer during these days only did one thing. ’Raiding forbidden areas or tombs.’ The very ones that dared to do such a thing in her home village.
They were probably Adventurers as well. Putting their lives at risk in order to obtain riches that had been banned by the government.
These people using archaic regulations that hadn’t been updated for decades do all sorts of unsavory crimes.
But Remira was bored.
A small subset of Knights after becoming aware of the Slavery problems had long left to bring the criminals to justice, while she who wished to take revenge the most was forced to sit in her place and wait for the days when her innocence was proven.
So she was bored a bit and chose to listen to this man who appeared somewhat interesting.
"Speak, what is it that the request office found odd?" Remira wondered, drinking her cup of tea while holding no intent on doing anything.
But the man never noticing Remira’s intent, started to tell her the tale of a Relic site. A site where he and his companions witnessed odd things.
Things that the man couldn’t put out in words, but he still tried to explain. "You think of it, it would appear in the air."
"Our thoughts were not just ours anymore. All of us became aware of each other’s intention, sparking distrust among us..." Sadly in his story that was just the start of the problems.
The deeper he walked into the cave, the scarier the visions became. "Some even materialized into reality." He said and was going to continue when a harsh sound came from the side. "Rota, what are you still doing here? Did you forget the thing we agreed upon?" This was a Radiant Knight as well, but much older in appearance and somewhat hunched.
Ranked only at Adept and carrying the badge of a teacher. This old man’s age was proof of his experience and survival. As in a profession where life is always on the line, it’s hard for one to grow so old unless they come to hold supreme power themselves.
