Chapter 413: 7.07.1 The drunk in the cafe.

My body grew barely. The lack of nutrients in my body couldn’t support my transformation, but my focus was not on obtaining the strength to begin with.

My focus was entirely on growing out a horn that stabbed into the mouth of the beetle that dared to hurt me. And when it died, all I saw was it turning into dust and disappearing from the world.

"This... a being like me?" I looked at where the beetle was, a beetle that retained an aspect of mine that matched my faceless head. "A nightmare in the real world." I knew what this thing was. I knew what this attack on me meant.

And I knew that I had been found out by him. "Hoho... my idol attacked me just now." I felt happy for a bit, then somewhat worried. Such conflicting emotions made me almost feel human. Then I turned and looked at Lord Emotion and bowed my head. "I thank thee for my protection."

"I just did what I was meant to do, protect the people of this land against intruders..." Lord emotion laughed at my words, and I laughed as well. "I do appreciate your help, otherwise I don’t know what might have happened to me."

Lakyus, the Prime Daemon of Nightmares. I know of that man and his goals. But what I can’t seem to understand is his problem with me.

I was a fan, he showed me his way here, and if not for him. I would have been nothing and would have been claimed by the fog of death long ago. So why does he keep hunting me?

Why?

Well, I can partially predict a part of the reason, but it’s not like I ever wish to harm my benefactor even if I became a nightmare.

"Worry not, he just knows the general location, he doesn’t know that you have obtained a body by now." Lord Nightmare explained, but it didn’t make me happy at all. This meant that my activities in the capital would come to a pause and I couldn’t leave a single clone here anymore in fear that he might catch up to me.

’This is troublesome.’ The only good news is that Lakyus as much as annoying he is. He can’t gain the help of gods, as unlike me, he is the one that shouldn’t even exist on this land anymore. So no matter what happens, he can’t come out in the open. He is limited in his options and can only ambush me like he did this time.

But that doesn’t make him weak. Even if he can’t reach the level of Daemon through his mastery over Nightmares, he is still a walking nightmare himself. A being who would eventually find a new way to walk the path of a daemon or someone even greater.

That’s how dangerous of a being he is.

’There is a reason the gods of old pushed him out of this world.’ Lakyus is dangerous from the very fact that he can attack any part of the world he desires by his understanding of the dream world.

And I bet he can send the whole capital into deep sleep if he so wishes, without ever setting a foot here.

It’s why I have to move again. I can’t stay here and make him think this place holds any importance in my heart. I have to move and hide from him.

Thanking Lord Emotion again and this time with some genuine emotions. I started to wonder one thing.,

’I can’t take refuge in the world of dreams for now.’

I need to find a new place for me and my men. A place where I can operate freely without worry of that man hounding me.

And I just have a place in my mind.

’Durum it is.’

Leshen was established right under the nose of the Radiant order. A place mostly filled with the Knight’s family members and those who come here looking for hope. This place was a refuge of sorts with next to no criminal activities as none dared to act foolish in the territory of Radiant Knights.

But this day, something odd was happening in one of the Tea Palaces, which was mostly frequented by the rich to discuss important meetings.

"Ho shit... be calm, why are you guys attacking me." The man appeared drunk, swaying from one side to another and barely dodging the attacks of what seemed to be a Knight in training who was not even granted a trace of Radiant Blood, but they were still above the strength of normal people due to the physical training they go through alone.

But the man didn’t mind them swaying their wooden swords at them. He just dodged from one side to another before he suddenly stumbled due to a glass on the floor, which made him dodge a direct strike on his head.

"This bastard, he is playing with us." And the Aspirant Knights were not foolish, they could see that this Drunkard that harassed them and ruined the little time they earned after a week of hellish training was just toying with them for his own amusement.

No way in hell can someone be so lucky and dodge so many strikes in one go.

Which made them even more frustrated, causing them to swing their wooden swords even more widely. Before a harsh warning came from the side. "Enough of the farce." The authoritative voice belonged to a woman with long hair that she bound in a ponytail.

Causing the Knight aspirants to suddenly stand straight and do a proper knight’s salute while shouting "Sir!"

"At ease... I will handle this man, the rest of you. Go enjoy your time elsewhere." This was Remira. Now living in Leshen under the identity of a normal Adept Knight Osana due to all the international scrutiny and to her shock, some politics among the Radiant Knights, some of whom seem to suggest that she leaves this continent for the Land of Azad where the true home of Radiant Knights was.

But she had refused, choosing to abandon her old name and going into hiding temporarily to hide from the intrusive eyes. But it doesn’t mean she had abandoned her old habits completely.

Her nose was still strong, and when she smelled that something was off about this drunk man, she knew that the foolish aspirants were just used by this man to attract attention by this man.

"Oh thank you, Sir Knight." The man got up from the seat and appeared erratic and almost like a hobo with how long his beard was grown. But Remira didn’t buy this act one bit, nor did anyone among the Radiant knights. Those movements were just too perfect to be ignored.

"If not for you, I would have probably bled today."

And such a game, Remira was not interested in at all. This was Leshen, this was the place where barely anyone dared to cause issues, but this man became a nuisance for others just to attract attention.

But the issue was, what kind of attention this man was looking for. Was it the attention of Radiant Knights, or was he looking for Remira’s attention? The latter of which can be problematic as she was mediocre on the surface and if this man were to know her true identity, then it would be something to be worried about.

"Stop with the act and sit in front of me," Remira warned the man, before turning toward the aspirants and making them leave the café.

The Emperor of Cynark had three brothers, among which, two were twins by the name of Deimos and Phobos, also called the twin moons of Cynark, considering they were named after the two children of the Moon.

They might both be born with the same face, but the talent they shared was much different.

Deimos born the youngest was considered a monster due to the innate strength he was born with. Making him have the strength of an adult by the time he was just three.

While his brother Phobos, the older of the two was just average was always compared to Deimos, causing a rift to be born between the two brothers and causing them to drift apart with time.

But a Prince of the Royal family is not someone who can remain mediocre for long, Phobos on his own was much more adept at something that none in the royal family ever were. He was a good businessman who held control of the foreign ministry for decades, which became the reason why Cynark is the powerhouse it is today.

It’s due to Phobos an untalented descendant that Cynark can see such prosperity.

But such success still could never let Phobos forget his past, he can’t forgive his brother. As fate has it, due to his lack of talent in the bloodline, Deimos’s brother Phobos couldn’t live as long as Deimos did and died a few decades ago, but through his death, he refused to let his brother visit him on his deathbed.

Which was the moment that Deimos was aware of the mistakes he made in his youth.

’Hope my grandson doesn’t make such mistakes.’ Ludwig was a descendant of Phobos, and in a way, Amir can be considered an uncle of Ludwig more than a cousin. But due to the fact that the royal family trees were kept secret in order to protect descendants. All the princes and princes were considered cousins.

And Amir’s job was to make this cousin of his into his subordinate.

A cousin whose first sentence to Amir’s servant was. "You are a woman, aren’t you?"
