Chapter 390: 7.00.5 My head hurts.
Ignorance can never excuse one of their wrongful deeds.
I can never excuse a person who did wrong out of misconception caused by the environment, lack of knowledge, or internal prejudice. None of that matters, no matter how innocent the other party appeared to be.
The moment they dared to ruin my mood, it was the time that they would suffer for their crimes.
And they would suffer from it in a few hours.
Or so I believe as I saw a figure suddenly enter the first floor as I was being let out. "Crow?" She asked, a bit surprised over me being bound in vines. Before his mood turned sour.
"Professor Selene, I wonder why are you here?" Aliya asked, acting familiar with Selene as if she was some old friend of hers.
But it was easy to see how she appeared a bit disturbed. Scared even. This was understandable, considering that Selene was infamous among the mages of Yethel for a reason.
And that had nothing to do with her background, which few were privy to begin with. Meaning, that all her notoriety was earned by her alone.
Her feats and her eccentricities, of them caused her to be as infamous as she was today.
A being that Even Aliya didn’t dare to mess with.
So the moment she saw someone as infamous as Selene made such an annoyed expression, she had to do something before a misunderstanding happened.
Which was already too late. "I was here to discuss something with the Principal... But what is this? Are you all mad?" She asked, looking at everyone who seemed to have been smiling not too long ago. "And you two, get him down." It was not a request, but a direct order carried with a kind of ferocity that only her mother can rival.
And out of instinct, while not knowing who this bizarre average-looking woman was, both of them followed suit and did as was asked, much to the dissatisfaction of Aliya and the Officer next to her. Who tried to pitch in? "He is a suspicious individual... It would be better..."
Selene heard it all, she could see me, silent and calm. A sign that I was furious at this moment, which when added to the officer’s excuse turned her mood sour.
The absurdities of these people and the whispers of the surrounding students were enough to tell her the whole story. This was not a prank by her uncle. A dirty game that he played to mess with these people.
No, he was here as a regular student, just to learn the things he couldn’t before due to the need for a proxy.
This was his moment, and it was taken from him, while he was also humiliated in return.
The very place which she recommended herself.
So she didn’t say much, with a flick of her finger, the surrounding wines turned into fine dust particles, while the soldiers, just fell to the floor as they saw their clothes were slowly disintegrating as well.
But before they could panic. A Kind voice escaped Selene. "Don’t move, or you might turn to dust with your clothes as well." her voice was calm, but the threat was apparent. And the soldiers, facing a powerful Mage like Selene didn’t dare to move. They just appeared panicked, over the sudden change in position.
"Mage Selene, this is highly inappropriate, these men are here to protect us.’
"Aliya was it?" With a flick of her finger, the dark dust surrounded Aliya again, which caused her to shut up instantly.
As for the surrounding students, all of them gulped down in fear. All of them were aware of who this woman was.
Don’t fall for her average looks and weak stature. She was a genuine Adept level Mage capable of Rivaling Master rank. But that was not all. Selene is someone who had earned various accolades as a 15-year-old, on border war. Which made her somewhat of a legendary figure among mages.
She was the kind of mage who did most of her studies directly on the field, perfecting her art of killing before she came to the Tower of Storms and achieved even more due to her being the creator of a unique kind of magic with the now diseased Mage Lecarth.
As for why she was famous in the Academy of Environmental Science? The reason was simple.
She was someone who frequented the academy from time to time, hence there were many who were aware of her existence and what she stood for.
So when Selene turned asked for Aliya’s name. Aliya turned blue, but no one came forward to support her.
Nor did they move as Aliya’s body was covered with the dark dust that floated around her.
"This... This is illegal.."
"Pack your bags, you are hereby Enlisted into the Country’s Mage Army. Report to Commander Wyfut tomorrow at the latest." Hearing such words, Aliya’s face turned pale.
She was just a scholar, there was a reason why she was not in Tower of Storms while being an adept mage and taught magic to apprentice in the Academy.
She was not a good fighter, nor someone who could survive on the battlefield. And using some familial connections, she had been able to live her life worry-free in the academy.
But now?
Now, it was virtually impossible for her to escape from conscription.
"Mage Selene, isn’t it a bit too harsh." One of the senior teachers asked, while giving me a look, curious over what my relationship with Selene was for her to deal out such strict punishments, then to Selene. Pleading for Aliya’s life.
"What do you mean? You, along with the rest who were present here will suffer for what you did today. All the teachers will lose 3 months of salary, while the students will be suspended for three months" As she spoke, countless voices suddenly erupted from the crowd.
All of them were furious over Selene’s words.
How dare she. They wondered.
How could a person decide all of that?
Even if she is from Tower of Storm, she is still just an adept level mage, which is a dime a dozen among the Tower.
Hell, most of the students and teachers present here know someone from the Tower, so how can Selene act as if she has the power to overturn this school and dole out punishment en masse?
This was absurd.
But Selene was in no mood to explain herself, or how she was capable of this. She turned to me and said. "Come with me." Before ignoring the rabble-rousers around her and climbing upstairs without a hint of worry.
Even the now naked Soldiers who had long run and covered themselves with some borrowed clothes from the student wondered just who she was and why only they were the ones who were humiliated like this.
What about their commander, why did nothing happen to him?
Well, the reason Selene didn’t do a thing to him was simple.
"I hope you use that officer to take out your anger and not these students." She said, appearing a bit weaker than before.
"They did anger me... I was so happy to meet Professor Adam, let him see my findings, and then be stopped in the middle. Is this the level of an institution that you have built up? Such prejudiced teachers?"
"Aliya is a good person normally. But due to me giving you the Special Quota for this year’s students, her brother wasn’t able to join the Academy."
"Hah, she really is deserving of death>" I sighed.
She was such an insignificant figure that I never bothered to look over her life. She was just too boring to my taste.
And earlier before, I never did act against her even after so many of her offenses for one reason alone.
I always thought she was angry over the opportunity I might have stolen from other hardworking students. But what am I hearing?
"Order Wyfut, she is to be bait. The most I can afford her is a fast death, as for the family she did all this, I will handle them. Nothing serious, but I would bring them down to the same level as commoners in our country."
"As for that arrogant officer." As I said these words, my niece suddenly laughed while saying. "He probably thinks he is out of danger."
"Ah, you really did spare him for me."
"He is a gift, I know you would need an outlet for today’s frustration. So go wild with his mind."
"Thank you."
We talked as we walked, but none could hear what we spoke about. They remained oblivious to our existence as the magic around that Selene used was a bit too powerful. Obviously, not a spell of her own, but a magic of her mother’s that she can cast once a day after recharging it through her necklace.
"But I still feel some anger. My head hurts even. It’s much harder to control oneself when inside a body. I was so close to killing her on the spot."
