Chapter 389: 7.00.4 You all will regret it.

What the mother and daughter discussed, I didn’t know. But from the fact that the storms over the Tower of Storms have subsided, it would seem that things might go smoothly from here on out.

It was time for me to return to my regular studies at the Academy of Environmental Science. Specifically, my teacher Mage Adam, must miss me, or he must have probably forgotten about my mere existence, considering how busy he had been when I was in the process of leaving.

’I have learned a few more things since I left, I wonder if he can help me with those.’ The few new things in my mention were obviously Amir’s work, and I wondered if Mage Adam might be interested in studying it or not.

He is a free Mage Scholar, not under any government, and had just been hired by the academy due to his achievements in the field of Magic Theory and not for his strength as a Master Level Mage.

Truly a unique Enigma. I was lucky enough to become his errand boy for the little while I had been in the academy and now, I was going to be his errand boy again.

Come morning and I was fresh and ready to visit him.

So I entered the academy that was at the edge of Garlum, just like Tower of Storms, but where it differed was the direction, as it faced fertile fields and a jungle which all came under the Academy’s Jurisdiction and were treated as experimental sites.

As for me, after showing my ID card, I was let in without worry. And due to my identity as the only dwarf in this Academy, most of the guards at the gates haven’t forgotten my face.

Some were even curious, wondering why I had disappeared for so long, and the only answer I could give was. "I was doing a field research, and found something interesting." The interesting ones were obviously Amir’s notes.

"Did something happen while I was absent?" I asked.

Although all noteworthy information had already been fed to me through the clones I left, I was still curious if there was something stupid that my clone might have overlooked.

And as I expected, there was.

"Mage Vinnie had been asking about you."

’Who?’ I wondered, before suddenly recalling a figure from not too long ago.

’Ah, that envious child.’ Thanking the guards I entered the Academy after a long time and found that something had changed since before.

"Hey, stop!" A soldier in a military outfit came and stopped me in my tracks, before asking me to show my purpose of visit and asking for an ID.

Which I showed gladly at first. And although he still kept asking me some stupid questions, I was able to free myself from him, before going my merry way towards Mage Adam’s Office.

But as I climbed the 1st floor, another soldier came and asked me the same question. "Someone below already did a checkup, why are you asking for it again."

"Don’t mouth off so freely and do as I ask you to do." This soldier was guarded against me. Which was to be expected, considering I am a new face in the Academy and stand out a bit too much.

So it was expected to be called out by these soldiers again and again. The very soldiers who were here to protect the Country’s bright future.

Probably a protection measure taken by Tower Master after her little experiment in Luthanza. She expects a similar retaliation before the war starts for real. And this was her answer.

Which I won’t complain about, at least she won’t make the same mistakes her Husband made all those years ago and go against my suggestions, which resulted in his death.

Hah, but enough about the past." Is this enough?"

"No, these can be forged. Tell me your purpose for the visit."

"What purpose for the visit, I am a Mage Scholar who just returned from field study. If you are so curious about my identity, ask anyone from that library, they must know me."

"A dwarf with not even a hint of mana expects to become a Mage Scholar?" I didn’t expect this. These soldiers were a tad bit too annoying. And now, they even started to look down on me? Just because I don’t exude mana, like those other mages?

"Would you just confirm my identity with someone... and do it fast? I wish to visit Professor Adam."

After hearing the Name Adam, the soldier suddenly turned mute. After ordering one of his subordinates to keep an eye on me, he went to the library that was next to the stairs and then came with another alien figure.

"Mage Aliya, this is the one that claimed to convene with Mage Adam." Suddenly humble unlike before, the soldier pointed at me as he led a woman who I barely remember.

But thanks to the name that the soldier spoke, I suddenly recalled who she was.

’I might have done something wrong in my past life.’

"Mage Aliya, please exp..."

"Weren’t you kicked out?" The first words she spoke were lies. She really did hate me, huh?

My fate with women really sucked hard. They all come to hate me for some odd reason. Or that reason might be outside my control, like fate.

"Please don’t Jest, I had been out due to my research and Just recently returned."

"Then I believe you are unaware of what happened in the last few months."

"Ah, I know, Mage Adam had already received a new understudy, her name was Vinnie I presume." I had known that I was replaced soon after I had left my country. But this was to be expected, there was too much work in Mage Adam’s Hand and there was always a need for an extra hand. So I was not surprised to learn that I had been replaced. But it didn’t mean that I was kicked out of the academy.

Nor did it mean that I had lost my identity as a Mage Scholar.

"That I am aware of. And Sir Officer, as you can see, I am part of this Academy. She said it herself."

"I said you used to be, but not anymore."

Why is she doing this?

At her nonsensical claims, I tried to talk some more, but it didn’t work. "Can I at least visit the officer and confirm the reason why I was kicked out?"

"Ignorant as ever, unaware of what is going around. Do you think the office has time for you?"

She was making things tough for me for no reason. Made worse by the fact that her next words, really doomed her as well as the officer next to her, forever.

"Officer, please get rid of him so that he doesn’t disturb the studies of students who actually put in effort."

She was an elitist, that I can ascertain. She didn’t like how I non-mage was hogging Mage Adam’s time all for myself. Nor did she like that I entered the academy using connections. Hah, this was getting annoying.

As on subsequent argument, she even seemed to claim me as a spy, which made things a tad bit awkward.

"Apprehend him." Said the officer as some guards came and tried to tackle me. But enough was enough.

"Do you know who you are messing with?" Followed by such words, the officer saw as the surrounding soldiers started to fall down one by one under simple slaps from me.

"A Knight?" He asked in horror while aiming his gun at me. While the teacher, who was meant to protect students dared to use her magic.

As vines grew around me and bound me tightly. But I didn’t struggle much. All I asked. "Can you understand, that you just forfeited your life with this?" I asked without a hint of emotion. Which didn’t seem to affect the foolish Teacher Aliya.

But it would seem that the soldier had seemed to have caught onto something. But then his blind belief in a teacher of the academy broke him out of rationality.

"Don’t worry Officer, only arrogant fools make threats like this. He seems to have looked down on the reach of our Academy."

"No, you seem to not understand, the gravity of what you just did." As the commotion increased, there were a bunch of students as well as teachers rushing to the corridor, finding the little old me bound in the vines somewhat funny.

They even laughed at my situation, finding it all so satisfying for I had got my comeuppance for being so cold to them, looking down on their effort.

All this was so frustrating.

"Release me right this instant, I am leaving." I was angered. Truly angered.

And it was not the Crow me that was angry, but I as Jester was angry.

These fools, these bastards who I gave the opportunity to grow to this level.

They dare do this to me.

And if they dare to do this with me, then what about others? People much weaker than me and without a voice.

"No, you will go straight to jail." The officer said, finding that mood on his side, he claimed as such.

There is no way a person this hated would actually be able to back up his words. Yeah, this dwarf might just be lying.

So he gladly ordered his fallen me to carry the bound me to the jail cell below the academy usually reserved for experimental subjects.

But now, they did that to me. "Teacher Aliya, you have just doomed this whole academy." Those were the last words I spoke, as I was taken away from this place under the watchful eyes of virtually everyone who didn’t matter.

Including the girl Vinnie. "Remember to return me the book," I said to her, who looked at me with confused eyes, not understanding what was happening.
