Chapter 391: 7.01.1 The inventor’s will.

I had forgotten what it was like to feel anger, pain, or love.

Furthermore, I had forgotten most of my emotions as a living and only pursued the only thing that interested me, which was my drive to look for entertainment. It was the only desire that made me move forward.

And that would have been the case if not for this new body of mine.

"It’s fun, this anger," I said to Selene, who smiled after hearing my words.

"It’s even more fun when you take out your anger on others." She made a suggestion and I already knew who she was speaking about.

It was that soldier, that officer who started the whole drama.

Although there were many before him that were the target of my anger, due to certain circumstances, he was the only one I could exact my revenge against. As for the rest like Remira. They were still out of my reach.

And besides, I am not the kind to pursue instant gratification. Revenge takes time and planning. A proper revenge needs to be grand. A revenge where your opponents lose the will to live anymore.

That’s the kind of revenge I desire. So I asked Selene. "When are you going to start sending out the gifts?"

"First some drama is necessary, I intend to make the news of Number Two’s capture public The rest can be followed after it."

"Good, but I don’t know if your mother would like it. She did seem angry last night."

"It’s handled, she gave me free rein this time." Freedom in Selene words meant test in Orvillia’s. That was the kind of woman she was.

Always testing her daughter just to ensure that she was someone capable of taking control of this country in the future. One such test is experiencing war just as a twelve-year-old and then becoming part of it at the age of fourteen.

All were forced upon Selene at a young age just due to her mother’s high expectations.

Of course, during those days, I also took my time to teach her simple espionage tactics, which she could employ during the war while handling the scouts.

"Seems like we have to part ways," I said, looking toward Adam’s Office on the fifth floor of the academy. And Selene nodded. "It seems the professor left a good mark on you?"

"He is a learned man who is hard to come by. He almost reminds me of the great Scholar Malidi, but not as crazy." Unlike the obsession of Malidi who didn’t mind putting his life at risk in the dangerous ruins of gods, Mage Adam was milder.

He didn’t risk his life. No, he never had to seek adventure in order to obtain what he wanted. His primary subject was Theoretical Magical Studies. Where there was never a need for him to go out to dangerous places to confirm such theories.

Making him a learned individual who knew a lot about magic.

"Oh, if you think as such, then you should meet the professor after you hand him your findings, I bet that your image of him will change after it." She was already aware of Amir’s notes. What he has created and what potential it might hold.

An electric engine does exist, it’s already used by some mages to do all sorts of experiments. But it is supported by magic to generate any noticeable force.

But Amir in order to deal with efficiency and heating issues. He ended up developing a frictionless motor system built upon the magnetic forces of metal.

Wouldn’t it be a game-changer?

And yes, it was a game-changer.

"Where did you find this?" the forever silent and calm Mage Adam was no more, he looked at the notes and found that the knowledge in them was a tad bit curious.

"Who wrote this Crow?" He asked a question that was hard for me to answer.

What hurt me more though was the fact that he never considered that it was my own findings. He never considered such a possibility, even when I had gone ahead and asked him about a similar subject just three months ago.

"Due to certain reasons, I can’t say who wrote it. But know this professor. He is someone under duress and unable to truly show his talents. It’s all I could gain from him..."

The professor was well aware that my background was not simple.

The very fact that I, a Knight was able to get enrolled in the Academy as a free student was huge enough. But then, I had to go ahead and get the position of Mage Adam’s Aide, which might even make some fellow teachers envious.

"Hah this world, always suppressing true innovation in pursuit of Magic." The professor appeared a tad bit passionate as he made this speech. Also, a bit disappointed when I told how I had failed to obtain the author of this work.

This should tell him enough that this person might not be in Yethel, to begin with, otherwise, it won’t be bizarre for someone of his caliber to not join the Tower of Storms.

"Professor, this is top secret content, only in the hands of a few top researchers of our country. And now you..."

"Hah! I know what you want... But wait for a bit, let me read." He ordered me while he was engrossed in reading the notes of Amir.

Acting as if I was still his aide, which was far from the truth.

Vinnie had already taken my position in the academy, and it would have been next to impossible for me to enter this office under normal circumstances as the magical lock on the door should have automatically locked me out.

But it never did, the gate opened as usual for me, and I was able to speak with him as if nothing special happened in the last three months.

A sign that he never even cared where I went away or what I was doing. He didn’t even bother modifying the lock nor did he seem to care that I was not his aide anymore.

No, there was a high chance that he wasn’t even aware that I was not his aide. He might just think I was back after a small break.

’This old man... I envy his focus.’ I sighed as he read the whole note in just five minutes before closing his eyes and starting to contemplate what was written on it.

A habit that I have gotten used to.

"Bringing me this, what do your superiors want Crow?"

"Most among the country are focused on weaponizing the technology, but a certain someone wished to use this technology for commoner use."

"You wish to carry forward with the intentions of the inventor?" Mage Adam had read the notes, he could see the intent of the researcher and what they were thinking about. But he also knew that it was impossible considering the current climate.

If Crow’s words were to be believed, this was an oppressed genius, unable to show his talents and his creations to the world. Meaning that he lived among fools with little insight into technology.

They were unable to understand the huge potential such research had.

This was an entirely new system of generating and storing energy.

But it was this greatness that made this technology dangerous. Once being made available to the public, it would be easily accessible to the rest of the world. It won’t be too long before even the fools who had once ignored it come to learn of its potential and then climb to the same heights as Yethel.

No, they might climb higher as they hold the original inventor in their hands. And even if Mage Adam was blind to the world. He still understood how this level of knowledge can’t be made public.

Not to mention, by making it public, Mage Adam would put a big target on his back. Which he found a tad bit annoying.

"I wish for him to join us. And what is the better way to do it by showing that we respect his will?" It was a bit of a lie. With a budding Transmutation Magic community in Yethel and advanced weapons that were out of this world. I had hoped that Yethel would be known as the technological center of the world.

So we need more than just weapons for this to work. And this tech would come in handy.

Not to mention, the boy named Prithvi showed me a really wondrous world through his dream. Which has made me even more curious about what the future holds.

At the end of our discussion and hearing the dreams of my superior, Mage Adam turned silent for a bit, contemplating the pros and cons before nodding. "Ho, I do wish to see someone so wonderful." He spoke before agreeing to my request.

"Don’t worry, I believe that it won’t be long before these individuals turn over to us."

******

"Open the way." Shouted the soldier as a Jeep drove past multiple encampments before stopping in front of an underground bunker. Stepping out of which was none other than Amir, whose eyes appeared hollow at this moment.

This was the first time Amir was on the active battlefield.

The smell of death was apparent from the moment he had walked out of his jeep.

Which turned his face sour before his eyes fell on the faces of soldiers who were busy with their work.

But one thing that remained common among all these soldiers.

None of them had hope for the future.

They were shells, forced to conscript in a war they didn’t care about, just like Amir.
