Chapter 388: 7.00.3 Mother Daughter spat.

Or not.

The dreams were just a window into Prithvi’s past, not his future. My assumption might be the fruit of my obsession, my curiosity over why he came here with that beast in his mind.

I was looking for a reason where there might not be one to begin with. And this object might not even work, as I had tried everything that can be considered like a button on the "phone" even before checking up on his dreams.

’But this is enough. I know the object called the phone is special and the world on the other side is a lot more advanced than the time I had left it.’

The disgusting wars seemed to be over and from the expression of those in the dreams, it can be seen that they were too busy with their daily life than the fear of a bomb dropping on them.

With the only exception of Prithvi, who kept being pursued by a dog in his dreams, A dog that appeared more and more sinister as time went by.

But, now was not the time to mess with his mind. It was too unstable due to his journey and subsequent capture by slavers due to his lady-like beauty.

"So for now, I have to deal with this dog first." I found the dream node where Prithvi’s real consciousness ran from the beast and then with a simple pinch, I closed it while throwing the boy and his guest out of their dream, jolting them awake.

"Sealed perfectly." I smiled, looking at the beast as well as the memories that were the cause of this beat’s existence disappearing from Prithvi’s mind.

The trauma had been sealed and not even I could see into it what was the cause of it unless I broke it open again.

As for Prithvi, he had awoken from his eternal nightmare. A nightmare he won’t even see again or suffer from in the future.

This is my gift to him, a night of sleep and some rest. The day after, he will have to start his studies.

Next to Yethel’s Capital of Garlum, at the very top of Carlo’s Edge, a hill that faced the seas was the Tower of Storms. The tower ruled Yethel from the shadows using a puppet government installed by its leader, the enigmatic leader of the Tower, Orvillia Radville Yethel, who also happened to be the mother of Selene, who had just come back from a harsh journey.

"I would have skinned you alive if you were not my only daughter." Such harsh words left Orvillia’s lips. A woman with a well-endowed figure, but her heart as cold as ice, after leading the country of Yethel for such a long time.

But Selene was different, she had dealt with her overbearing mother for too long. She knows the kind of person her mother was and how to deal with her. "All I did was deal with a problem that all of you were suffering from, a simple act that only I could pull."

She pulled results that no one else could. She did what no one else was capable of and now, the burden of the Radiant Knight Remira is off their shoulders, while this all also acted as good propaganda to be used against Radiant Knights even further.

"Don’t be arrogant Selene. There are many ways to get rid of that Knight. So curb down that arrogance of yours, it’s unsightly to me." Her emotions affect the clouds above the Tower, causing them to crackle with thunder. "You wasted over 3 months on this mission of yours, time that can’t be brought back. The time which you should have used to finesse your power as a Mage."

"At your age, your father was already a Master Rank, a powerful one who could rival Arch mages from my family... "

"People are different mothe..."

"Or you are just a coward who is finding distractions all the time, just to run away from responsibilities."

"..." Selene knew how weak she was when compared to her Father, a simple librarian in the old Tower of Storms, who turned out to become a powerful Archmage with the potential of one day becoming a Legendary.

A potential that was shown by her father was that he had defeated the original owner of Tower of Storms who originally acted more like Mafia, holding the seas hostage through their use of powerful spells.

The original Owner, who went by the name of Archmage Dark Storm of Radville family and her mother’s uncle.

It was his death that had entranced her mother of her father’s charm, which resulted in her birth.

Which goes to show how much of a crazy woman her mother was. Courting the very man who killed her world-renowned uncle.

But this was also a sign of her father’s talent.

"I had to do something, she killed Lecarth." Lecarth was the only other Occult Magician in Tower of Storms beside Selene, so they were close. No, one could say that if one were to ignore the realm of these two, Lecarth was always more like a mentor to Selene. A teacher who taught her many things about how to control the corrosive magic power that comes from occult practices.

It was also Lecarth openly gave her his research on how to use magic and curses in tandem, and even merging the magical power with curses to create a unique form of curse magic that was unique to him.

And now, it was only unique to her, as Lecarth had died.

"Don’t use the dead as an excuse... and if you wished for revenge, I would have assumed that you might have done more than just letting her escape. But now she is free, instead of suffering from the consequences of her choices."

"So what kind of revenge is this?" All the words her mother spoke contained a hint of mockery in them. She considered Selene’s action fruitless. Just a tantrum of a child that knows no better.

"The most you should have done is get her out of the prison, the world would have taken care of the rest." From the world, Orvillia obviously meant the undercover agents whose whole purpose was to assassinate Remira the moment she escaped from her prison.

If that had a chance of putting them at risk, then they would have followed Remira through the border of Wortham Principality and eliminated when she left Yethel.

But by using the slaver’s ship and being next to Remira, Selene turned more of an obstacle than a help to them.

But it was then that I appeared.

"Why being so hard on your child?" I asked from the cage that was next to Orivillia’s table. "It’s not like she did anything wrong."

"You dare to listen in on us? Did you forget what happened last time you dared to do such a thing?"

"I couldn’t help it, the storms outside the tower were getting a bit too chaotic. I wondered who was it this time... and lo and behold, it’s my precious niece suffering from her mother’s tongue." As I spoke those words, my rat body suddenly turned into dust.

A bit painful, that I would say.

She never shows mercy, does she?

*****

"He has turned arrogant since obtaining a body." Orvillia thought looking at the ashes in the cage before turning to her daughter and sighing.

Jester’s intrusion killed all her anger, he ruined the moment and maybe that might be his purpose all along. As it was not harder to think over who she might be angry over such an inopportune time.

Her daughter just came back from a long journey, so it was obvious from the start.

And it didn’t bother Selene seeing the rat die, she had seen it a bit too many times, so it was just normal for her. But what bothered her more was her mother’s words. "Mother, there are a few things we both don’t agree with. And this might be one of those times."

It was true, although Orvillia acted tough on her daughter, both of them were pretty much the same in various aspects. And always came to the same conclusion when push comes to shove.

It was probably why the two of them fought so much.

"Death is too kind to her, she killed the only true teacher I ever had. And she did it so cruelly."

"A simple assassination would be too kind on her.’

Listening to her daughter, the now calm Orvillia sighed and commented. "So letting her escape the country was your answer to that punishment?"

"No, but part of it. I will ruin her belief first and foremost, let her fall to the lowest level possible and this is just the start."

"Your words seem awfully similar to that arrogant rat bastard."

"And he is right... simple death is too kind for her."

"Then tell me, what do you intend to do? If your answer satisfies me, I might lower the punishment you will earn at the end of this conversation."

"I..."
