Chapter 354: 6.05.1 What was the meeting like?

"Yes, the true hero is the one who knows their limit and when to back down." With those words, the crow left the weird tree.

Which a while later caught fire, attracting some attention.

But no one was in the mood to deal with a small fire and people let it burn until a few soldiers rushed and drowned out the fire.

A small event at the beginning of a very scary night.

It was not a peaceful night for the commoners and much was the same for the transcendent, as the location of the Explosion, a couple of figures converged at the location and found that the smoke and the light from the aftermath were slowly disappearing.

"Hiding again?" Was Amir’s question as he looked at what used to be the Parts casting factory, the very same one that was the location of a prior incident. But that was not important at the moment.

"Prince, this place is not safe, the terrorists could still be hiding in the vicinity."

"I don’t believe it’s wrong to be aware of what is going on in the place where I live." Amir looked at a man with a straight face and deep eyes.

He was General Musa, who was directing the soldiers to cordon off the area to prevent any third party from fishing in the pool of chaos. Meanwhile, the mages above them suppressed the fire and some illusion to make it seem that nothing odd had happened.

As for why? Amir in his position and nature didn’t understand it. But he can think of some things.

"Yes it is true, but I would prefer if you don’t stay here."

"Treating me as a liability, are we?" Amir asked, looking around like a machine before giving one more look at General Musa and saying. "You mean to say, the enemies would dare to attack me while surrounded by three grand-level existences? Which should be much safer than my manor."

At such a commoner General Musa turned silent. Some things are better left unspoken. Fighting a prince was not in his job description anyway, if he wanted to, he would allow Amir to stay and look at things.

But he warned Amir to still maintain some distance. This is for his own safety and to prevent any damage to the crime scene caused by someone inexperienced. Which Amir understood very well.

On the other side, Black Sun looked at Amir, recalling the prior meeting of theirs along with the woman they were curious about. He even wondered if he should go there and ask directly, but shook his head at the end.

This was not the time for it.

The fire was long devoured by him, but the remnant of destruction can’t be dealt with easily, he needs to be careful to not ruin their only chance of finding the perpetrator.

"Is it set up properly?" He asked his wife, looking at the simple magic circle that was drawn in the sky with multiple seeds floating in the air.

"Just focus on your own work Honey, leave this to me." She said, casting multiple magic in the air, causing bits and pieces of smoke to rise from the rubble and then be absorbed in seeds that amounted to thousands.

The true name of the magic was the Traces of Life. Each seed would absorb these traces of individuals in a specific area, limited by time but with certain parameters that make it easier for them to shorten the list of perpetrators.

When these seeds flower up, they would always point in the direction of the respective person whose traces they carry. And as long as these flowers are alive, they will never stop aiming towards their target. Which in Twilight Flower’s hand can be for a very, very long time.

’Such a beautiful magic.’ Amir thought, looking at the destruction and carnage in the area along with the beauty of magic.

"Only thirty seeds of notable individuals among thousands?" Black Sun wondered before he took out a bunch of small pots from out of nowhere, which were soon seeded by Twilight Flower, who each handed the pot to some chosen mages and soldiers.

"Go through the city and find where each of them has gone." She ordered as the seedlings grew at a rapid pace before turning into small sunflowers. "Remember to keep the pot protected, otherwise it would be hard for us to find them again."

When that was done with the mages and soldiers leaving toward the direction of the Colony, the duo of Arch mages dropped with Black Sun having a livid face. "Prince, I won’t ask you to leave if you wish to stay and watch the clean up, but I do have one request or more like a question."

This was coming, there was no need for pleasantries at the moment and the duo of Arch mages went directly to the main topic at hand.

"Is there an issue you were curious about? Or were you offended due to our last meeting?" Amir asked, but Black Sun just shook his head. "I would take it as you agreeing to our question." As he said those words, he gave one look to Musa, who understood that something classified was being discussed, something that should still be kept in the dark. So he just nodded and left the scene.

Followed by a magic that covered the trio in one place. "Isn’t this a bit too much?" Amir asked, looking at the two. "What is so secret that even General Musa doesn’t have a right to know about?"

Hearing such a question, Black Sun looked at his wife for a bit, obviously wondering how much he should say. But in the end, he let his wife ask the question.

"The girl you were looking for, did you ever converse with her?" A question that has been asked before, but the context behind that question has changed.

Things were not as simple anymore, a facility was destroyed and around thirty soldiers died during the explosion for being in the vicinity.

Soldiers just doing their job, but their bodies don’t even exist anymore.

Amir also knew that although he couldn’t speak much about the incident, he couldn’t remain quiet after this happened.

No, it would be more appropriate to say, that he was not in the mood to keep silent as much anymore. The deaths and carnage brought by this explosion would have unending consequences.

What if it exploded just a few hours earlier when the factory was still alive?

What if the destruction spread to other factories? As one might not forget, there was an assembly and even a gunpowder factory within a few kilometers distance. Making it much more dangerous than one might expect.

"I won’t speak of where I met her, but I can say that she came to kill me, but couldn’t, and we converse about her reasons." He can’t let them know that she was here for him, she wanted him to turn to their side and betray his country, his family, and his real family which was the commoner parents he remembers from a young age.

"She came to kill you?"

"That’s what she said with a straight face, I am not even sure if that was her face."

"And happened and none among your security noticed? Not even Sir Burghim?"

"This should be enough to tell you, why I might be fascinated with this figure." Questions continued and Amir calmly answered as much as he could while leaving the subject of his project out of his mouth.

However, at the end of it, the question still ended up coming to a specific point. "Is there a reason why you refuse to answer where and how you met her?

"She was entertaining, to say the least, I didn’t wish for this entertainment to die out so soon." He spoke with a pause, before nodding and saying. "And yes, I sure did meet her multiple times. Even after the first meeting with you."

The Duo turned silent, a sense of wonderment appearing on their faces.

Such odd moves, such an odd saying. They recalled the words that Anna had spoken to the duke. "He is an entity that seeks entertainment and those alike himself." A line that was not taken seriously by them anymore.

But with the chances of Jester’s involvement being all-time high and in their mind, they couldn’t help but wonder.

Wonder if the reason Prince was spared was because this Rat King has taken a liking to him.

"For the last question Prince, and I want you to think deeply about it."

"In any of your meetings, did the woman speak about a rat king or a jester or even a wraith? Anything will suffice."

"?? No, if I think harder, there was no mention of it. As I said before, our meetings were short due to security issues, and she only seemed to pry important information out of me, nothing more."

There were no changes on his face, nor did the Archmage couple notice any oddity. But they did understand one thing.

’The situation here is much more dangerous than I had expected... even a prince is involved.’ Black Sun knew that two more mages wouldn’t do, as the issue was not with the strength anyway.

’I would have to speak with Grand General and gain some more authority over the city.’

The issue was bigger than one might expect. As Prince Amir might be compromised, and he would need more rights than a Butler if he wishes to handle the issues in Luthanza completely.
