Chapter 347: 6.02.4 People are after you.

Farhad looked at the woman ahead of him, his mind running as fast as he could before coming to a single conclusion. ’She is working for him.’ Or she is working for him, but she still doesn’t know it yet.

’Meaning this whole thing can be a game of his.’

Farhad recalled the meeting he had with Jester a few months ago. "Run if you wish, I only brought you here to help you escape from trouble back then anyway."

"But I do hope, you don’t let yourself be treated like trash, you are Grifter, a very dangerous bastard who has killed me multiple times. So I don’t wish to watch you act pathetic all the time."

Those words showed Jester’s genuine concern for him, and even in his heart, Farhad was well aware that what Jester said to him were his real thoughts. And Farhad would have even considered forgiving Jester for turning him into this bizarre undying monster. But the fact that his father was dead and his family barely surviving. He just couldn’t do it.

"You won’t touch my sister?"

"Why should I touch someone as insignificant as her? As long as she doesn’t do the little tricks she did before, I hold no interest in her."

Was it a lie? Farhad can’t tell.

But what he can tell is that this whole thing seemed a bit too coincidental.

’It’s too easy.’ He thought, looking around at the rats, looking to find any unnatural motion they might make in front of him. But they were truly just rats.

Simple rats in the sewer, just like he was while carrying Remira.

’Is it at the end? When he will strike us.’

"How did you learn he is not here?" Farhad asked again, looking deeply at this random woman he just met.

He was curious. Who was she to know something that none in this world could predict with Jester’s true nature? He was a being with no form who lived in the world of dreams. How can she predict or be knowledgeable of his movements?

Something odd was going on. Something very bizarre, which made Farhad full of suspicion.

Not to mention, before he needed her, so he didn’t speak much at that moment, but now was different, he could be certain she was led by Jester in one way or another, and going any further with her would put Remira’s life at risk.

’Unless he wishes me to leave with her.’ Farhad’s mind ran again, thinking of the details and news he was able to grasp while living his life as a free prisoner, who could have run at any time he wanted, but he stayed.

’Captain has lost her identity as a Radiant Knight, which is not how the Radiant Knight does things.’

’But it did end up turning her into baggage, she is a criminal without a home anymore and the result would have been execution.’ Farhad got closer to the truth as he thought harder and harder, he recalled some important points and rumors he had heard.

’The opposition in the trial was going to request for her execution, but before the trial began, this happened?’

Was this really an act? He can’t tell for certain.

What he did know, things were going too smoothly.

"I... I belong to the Unknown night."

"... ??"

"Just know, the organization I belong to is older than the Knights."

Her answer was the same as not answering at all, Instead, her words just caused him more confusion. ’Unknown night?’

"You infiltrated the Knights as a Radiant eye? Was it to pursue Jester?"

"No... I didn’t know what I was doing there, my teacher just asked me to work with them and that’s it. And if you are curious for more, please don’t. Let’s focus on just escaping from here."

Although he hated her response a bit, at the end of the day, Farhad chose to nod his head in approval.

For now, no matter what Jester’s game is, he is giving Remira a chance to escape. So let’s take it.

Amir woke up as usual, with a sour mood.

"She hasn’t spoken since, did she really leave?" A total of three meetings, that’s it. But since meeting her, Amir felt that he finally had something to look forward to, something more interesting than training but still not as good as his hobby. ’This is unlike me, I am letting my interest take over my reasoning. She is a dangerous element.’

Even though she is dangerous, but Amir couldn’t help but think about her. What might be the reason, he didn’t understand till now.

"Burghim, what is today’s schedule," Amir asked, looking at an apparently tired Burghim. ’Did something happen while I was asleep?’ Hence, changing his question to. "What happened?"

"Last night, the Gun casting factory caught fire somehow."

"How many injured, or dead?"

"None as far as we can tell, but the issue is not the fire itself." Burghim paused, wondering how to word it before finally saying. "It would seem people have infiltrated the colony."

Although it was a colony, in the minds of many, this was the City of Amor or City of Shields in common language, due to how it was built like a fortified castle rather than a living space of mortals. So for a crime to happen on the ground of Amor was telling enough.

"It might as well be an accident. The place we are talking about smelted gun parts, a single killing that escaped might have caused the fire?"

"A single kiln of fire doesn’t write sentences," Burghim said while handing Amir a simple report, where he saw what the words were. "We are here."

"Arrogant."

"We have sent for wizards, a total of two Arch mages will soon be visiting Amor before something bad happens."

There were already two Grandmasters who were responsible for the city’s protection, which was overkill to begin with, as Luthanza had no enemies on its border.

Which went to show how important this place was considered in the eyes of the Cynark military.

"Do the commoners know of the incident as of yet?’ As the factories were away from the colony, the citizens were still in the dark, unaware of what happened in the factory they were meant to work at.

"No, the scene was cleaned up and the factory has resumed its work."

"... You dared to let the factory run as usual while knowing the dangers?"

"That was an order of the Two Generals, I had no power over this decision."

"... People’s lives are at stake, and they still focus on making some weapons?" Amir hated his position. He had no power in this city, no influence at all while being a prince from the royal family.

"It’s safe for now young master, the Lords won’t have an order for the factory to resume its operations if they were not sure that it was safe," Burghim said, asking Amir to understand the situation, but he just shook his head.

"Then should I go there? Check if it’s really safe?" Amir asked, making Burghim shut up.

"See, you won’t like that? Because I am Royalty, so why those commoners? Their life has value, just like us."

"..." Burghim wanted to say, how a young master’s life was more important than the commoners. But knowing his young master, he chose to remain silent for a while, before going nodding and saying. "I would see to it that the factory is safe myself, before allowing any work in the factory."

"Do that for all factories, use the excuse of random maintenance checkups and check all factories."

"If they can do something like that in one place, there is a high chance they have touched other factories as well."

"Yes, young master." After the Butler left, Amir resumed his breakfast.

"I thought he would never go away." A voice came from Amir’s back, making him turn around and see that the metal trolley on which his breakfast was kept had the silhouette of a familiar person on it. "And I thought you left already." Amir smiled as he said while drinking a glass of orange juice.

"Well, we were going to leave until we noticed something interesting in this city."

"... And what is it?"

"I can’t say... but what I can say is to not leave this place."

Amir took a deep breath. "Is it your siblings, do they still want to kill me?"

"No, the fools have already left, for now, there is only me."

"... So you mean to say, there are others?"

"Correct Lord Prince, you truly are unlike the other ones I met, you can think things through without me speaking anything." Amir knew that he was being made fun of, but in reply to her words, he just smiled. "So I am valuable enough for them to create a trap for me?"

"Correct again, they just want you to leave the security of your castle, giving them the chance to act." The figure smiled, or what looked like a smile.

"That is good and all, but I wonder why I should believe an assassin? Why should I believe a word you say when you originally came here to kill me?" Amir asked which had been eating away at his heart for the past few weeks.

Why him? Why did she come to him for small talks after their initial meeting? And even in the last meeting, they mostly talked about their regular life, and nothing more.

Which was utterly bizarre if one were to be aware of his experiences.

And he actually thought that the woman in front of him would just keep this a secret. But she just nodded in agreement, and after a bit of struggle, she said. "You can be considered Young Prince. My master has taken some interest in your work, specifically the engine you created."

"?? Are you jesting with me?"

"Not at all, in his mind, you are a prime target for recruitment, and he has ordered me to do anything in order to recruit you to our side."

"Work with my potential killers?"

"Or people who appreciate your talents. And besides, I originally came here to kill you for your identity as a prince. But I have watched you for a while now Prince. I know you are unlike those hypocrites. You are better, you still hold the heart of a mortal in you. So, you are someone perfect to join our organization."

"Hmm... what is the name of your organization?"
