Chapter 343: 6.01.4 Scared Scart.
A disgusting game was played with his fate. Born to royalty, his grandfather was the younger brother of the current King and managed the Empire’s military. And seeing how corrupted and vain the younger generation of Bloodcrow family have turned into, he tried an experiment.
Making the youngest of their family grow among commoners, learn their plight and develop a humble nature that would be good for a future leader of the family.
But who would have thought, even if he was ignorant of his bloodline. The blood of the royal family could never live in mediocrity, he was the best of his class, turning into a senior level engineer just at the age of 22, which was absurd considering how he should still be in college for studies.
And since obtaining the book of Knight Training, Amir showed an even absurd talent, compared to his siblings. Rising through the ranks and reaching the master rank in a decade at most.
Though calling his rise to power easy would be a lie. He suffered an arduous fate, even enacting revenge on some of his old bullies and their families.
The moment power was in his hand, he used resources he had at hand, manipulations and connections to mess with their life. Which made him expose to even greater danger as the families behind those nobles came after him.
But who was he? His rise was enigmatic to say the least and the strength he possessed was horrific when used on enemies.
The killers that came his way, the superior that tried to punish him, and even some of the other members of that noble’s family, all of them died one by one.
Until one of them survived and exposed the abilities he possessed. Which was the reason how he learned what family he belonged to.
An enemy exposed this knowledge to him, not his own family.
"Great work, you have done much better than I had anticipated." He was 32, when he met his grandfather for the first time. As for his father
Well, he was a wastrel with great bloodline but no ambition and one of the reason why Amir was brought up like this.
And although he was happy at the start, learning his origins. But that was only three years ago.
Now, his mood has soured with time, his face turning more crumpled and the speed of his Knight Practice turning slower with each passing year.
"Hate this place." After living like a noble himself, he came to understand one part about him.
’I can’t be one of them... not anymore.’ He thought, looking at the fools who once used to look down on him, never even daring to look toward him on his balcony. They were fearful of him.
"Young master, are you still angry?"
"No, I am not angry at them. Not anymore." From where he stood, everything look insignificant. He was like a king overlooking the Planc Colony as his own city, with little to no emotion.
The old hate and rivalries which drove him to greater strength were no more. And in the coming years, he had turned complacent with time. Now he mostly practiced the Bloodcrow Night’s method and then went on the war exercises with other soldiers.
But that was not the worst part.
The worst part of it all was the fact that he can’t work on the thing he loved the most.
"Burghim, I have made up my mind. I won’t take part in training from today."
"Master, I know it might be hard. But this is what Grand General has asked of you. He wishes to see you succeed in battle and earn honor for the family."
"I know what he wants, but it’s too late for that now. I might be a killer, but I am definitely not a warrior."
He said, looking toward the little truck driven past his manor. "I want to build engines, that has been my calling in life."
Since he was a kid, a boy without any powerful background, nor any money. Knowledge was his ticket to a better future.
The only moment in his life he truly felt happy was when he was invited to work at Luthanza due to the motor engine he created. The faces of his parents as they looked at his success, the pride and joy they felt was still not forgotten by him.
It was the only time he felt any true feeling of accomplishment.
"But young master, you are not born to be a worker, you are a born leader. That work is beneath you."
"And if Grand General were to learn how you have abandoned training to work among commoners again, you know what might happen." Hearing such words, Amir’s hatred for his family turned for the worse.
"You are threatening me with my own grandfather?"
"I am just letting you aware of the expectation put on you. Among the current generation of Bloodcrow, only you have succeeded in entering Master Rank. You are the future of this family."
"I would never be part of this family, my heart is not with them... if anything, I might just end up being similar to Duke Wortham, but a much weaker and disappointing version of him."
"Please don’t say that, it’s just been three years since you learned the truth. I would talk to Grand General and appeal for some free time. But till then, I hope you can continue on your practice for a bit longer."
Amir really didn’t wish to partake in any combat exercises, he might be good at planing and assassination due to his analytical mind. But in a combat scenario, his battle sense was much weaker. And even the direct confrontation combat he was forced to partake in was not to his preference.
He preferred to remain in the dark, hunt those that dared to harm him, poison them if needed. And even build explosives to take out his enemies if he wished for.
The methods he developed to eliminate his enemies in the last decade have been diverse. But none among them was any method that required a direct confrontation.
So in his eyes, this whole exercise was a waste of his time. A time he could use to better work on his creations. Not creation for killing, but for transporting people.
’I have had enough of killing people.’ He thought to himself, before nodding to the butler. "I hope you convey my desire to him truthfully, that I have no desire to for war."
******
Not too far off in the distance lived a small family of three siblings.
Two old brothers and one young sister. Living their life while working in the factory close by and earning just enough to sustain them in their day-to-day life.
"It’s been failure after failure for us, isn’t it?" Scart said, dropping the spoon in frustration. "Master will definitely hate us for this." He felt frustrated as well as fearful, as this can be considered the first time he had failed at any mission. "Won’t he abandon us?"
Hearing which, the little girl also turned silent for a bit, before shaking her head. "This task was above our skill level. There is really nothing we could do... if only we were allowed to use 0 grade curses." It was Gazelle, the older sister of the ground and oldest of the group in truth as well. But due to her talent, it wasn’t hard for her to change her skin and appear as young as she did now.
As for her reason for such a young look?
Well, she just didn’t wish to work in a factory along with her brothers.
"There has been no update from Master for the past two weeks, which either means he is busy with his studies again, or he found something more interesting in place of us." Said the oldest appearing sibling of the group. Which was none other than owl.
"Shut up man... I don’t want to hear it... I would kill you if he really abandons us." Scart screamed, almost making a move on owl, but stopping as sanity returned to him.
"Considering how long it’s been, they must have found the deceit curse in Carps body. It’s better to just leave at this point. No reason for us to waste our time here." Gazelle made a suggestion, while she looked at her "Oldest" brother who seemed pretty bothered with the current situation.
She understood how much pressure was on owl’s shoulder, so she never used such hard words against him, unlike Scart. And even made a suggestion, which was more like abandoning his task and running away.
But Owl was not this kind of person.
"Deceit is one of the hardest curses to be noticed. Unless a Grandmaster level Talisman expert or Curse wielder appears, it’s impossible for them to notice its presence."
"And considering Carp still remains alive after the last exchange. They must still be looking inside his body... Or, they’re just using him as a bait at this point."
"Either way, we are ruined. The best choice to make at this point is... for us to go back."
"... No, no we can’t. What... What if Master is disappointed in us?"
"Scart wake up and face the truth. Master is already disappointed with us. It’s why he didn’t talk to us for the last two weeks. It’s better for us to leave now."
"Scart, don’t worry. Do you really think Master is so cruel to abandon us?." Gazelle spoke on the side with a small smile on her face.
