Chapter 325: 5.15.1 Karmic Reversal.

What a great day it was, the sun was shining bright, the birds were chirping loudly and there were over a hundred soldiers perching on rooftops, waiting for Remira’s arrival.

It was perfect.

If only not for the fact that someone close to me just lost his life. Someone who was not meant to die today. Followed up with a plan that was ruined due to intrusion of two unexpected guests. Does she know how angry I am at the moment? How devastated I am that she ruined my whole simple game?

Oh! Knowing her, she should be happy, she should be enjoying herself thinking she had won.

"You think you have won, haven’t you?" I asked Remira through the lips of a normal soldier the moment she entered the city. And before I could speak a word more, she shot me. "You can’t do a thing now, this is the game, I am immune outside." She said, looking at the corpse of a soldier who had a family of his own, ignorant over the reason why he even died.

"Guess, my threat is useless in front of you, neither do I possess the strength to fight you in any way." The corpse’s lips still move, he still stood straight while looking at Remira. "But just now, you made a very big mistake."

"Oh! Did I? I wonder what that mistake is?" She asked, almost mocking me. But I just smiled. "Do you believe in Karma?" I asked

"Wasting my time are you?"

"Not at all, my stupid little wolf, but considering the explanation might be a bit big, and you are tight on time. Why don’t we go to the professor’s home as we talk?" An odd suggestion from my side, which confused Remira a bit.

Wouldn’t it be to my benefit to waste time? But then she nodded. Knowing that she has immunity and I can’t harm her in any way she chose to listen to me.

At least this way, she could learn some more things about me. Or such must be her thoughts.

"Rashid, no need to hide behind her, you will be adult soon. Come forward, I wish to speak to you as well, as it is something that concerns you and your family."

As we walked through the streets at a slow pace, I started to speak. "Do you know newton’s third law?" I asked Remira who could only shake her head in denial, not knowing what or who newton was.

"It’s a theory brought by Venkataraman of the Dwarfs, I believe no introductions are necessary at that front?" At my questions, Remira nodded. As it would be absurd to not know Venkataraman, the man who brought industry to their world from the other side of the veil.

"For every action, there is equal and opposite reaction..." As I started to give a detailed example using the bullet in my head as an example, Remira stopped me. "I am not here to study, just tell me what you wish to say."

"You are in a hurry, I understand." Nodding as blood flowed out of my skull, I continued. "The world is just like that. If you do good in the world, good things will come to you, and vice versa."

"But the sad thing is, this only applies to strong individuals. As they grow closer to gods, the impact of Karma on them starts to increase, any harm to innocent life brings upon you the wrath of the world at a greater level, the stronger you get."

"It’s the reason why you won’t find higher level transcendent roaming the world like you. They just stay in their place, facing threats of their level, while fearing to incur any bad Karma."

As I spoke these words, the eyes of Remira opened up. But she can’t treat my words as truth, for I lie, and she still seems to find my words unbelievable. "I never heard anything of such nature from my superiors?" She wondered, as my words sounded a bit too mystical, reaching the levels of superstition even by this world’s standards.

Though all I did was smile and said. "Of course it doesn’t, it only affects legend level figures. While you are still merely a mortal, hence free of such worries."

"For now that is."

"You say that I will incur bad karma in the future?"

"No, you already have, you might not notice it, but you have accumulated so much of it that it’s absurd that you are still alive."

She treated my words as lies, as anyone in her position would do, but this should be enough for now.

"Oh, I just wonder. Why haven’t we reached professor’s house yet?" I suddenly asked a question instead of answering.

Which made Remira aware that something was odd.

"You, is this the game you were playing? I can easily break it." She said, feeling the subtle existence of curse energy in her surroundings. "So easy that I ignored it."

And she was correct, without Lecarth’s masterful utilization of this curse, for a Radiant Knight like Remira, this curse was easily breakable. But that was where the greatest part was.

"Then break it." I said, no, it was almost like I ordered her to break it.

An order which caused her hand to stop.

"Something is wrong." She said.

"Yes it is. It has been wrong since the moment you killed my man, you stupid fool." I laughed loudly, causing bits and pieces of the brain matter to fall on the ground. Scaring Rashid, who hid behind Remira. But I didn’t mind it at all. I just said. "Sorry Rashid, guess there will be no winners in this match." With those words, the corpse I hid in fell down without any life left in it.

*****

Lecarth was a Genius when it came to utilizing the curse in a way that it becomes immune from normal way of exorcising methods or skills of a radiant Knight.

But what if it cracked?

What if he is killed?

Like a giant "Fuck You" to his killer, he left a small revenge system in his spell matrix. "Which you most want to protect will become home to the curse."

The spell matrix never disappeared from Lecarth’s body, it just inscribed into the stone that Remira carried. Which made me aware that the Goblet in Rashid’s hand is useless. Because if the stone was truly chosen at random, then the spell would not have fallen on it.

"Either leave the stone, or destroy it, that’s the only escape."

Remira can’t burn the stone with her flames. Doing that would cause the Radiant Knight’s energy to come in conflict with Roots energy, causing the stone to break. Ruining the relic in the process.

If I don’t win, then no one wins. I was capable of achieving this much at least.

"This is called Karma, Remira. Learn about it before It’s too late. For your comeuppance will be very joyful to watch" I said looking toward the insect that was panicking, while the bigger insect kept trying to fiddle with the source of their current predicament, but failing each time.

’Destroy it, that’s the only way.’ And she will destroy, for she was not the kind to let me win.

*****

’What is Karma?’ It would be a lie to say that Remira didn’t know about it, she mostly acted ignorant about it to Jester. But most of her understanding was limited to the religious text and how it’s important to be kind to the people and never commit crimes, as you might suffer for it in hell.

Superstitious knowledge taught to kids to keep them in line, and it worked for her and many others in this world. They remained good citizens till their death, all due to their fear of Karma.

"Is there a way to burn the curse? Aren’t you Knights capable of it?"

"No, a human body is different than a relic, I can’t purify it without destroying the stone."

"Please... can’t you do anything?’

"I, I will try something’s."

And those were the words she said a couple of hours ago, but no matter what she did, as long as there was even a hint of desire in her to bring this relic to Blue Rose, she would always lose her way.

"This can’t be possible. We are so close...we were."

"Don’t panic, this is what he wants us to do. There should be a way out of this."

She said, before she found herself in a forest out of nowhere. She didn’t know how, but she had suddenly entered the forest instead of moving toward Blue Rose.

’He... that man.’ Remira wished to curse, as she had been had. She knows she lost, and going any further would lead to her death.

And yes, death it is. As while holding this stone, she can neither reach for food, nor could she reach her destination.

In case she destroys the stone, it would mean the end of this competition and failure, which would in turn incur the wrath of Blue Rose and she would also lose her immunity. Making it possible for her to be surrounded by army and killed.

Who knows, there might just be a powerful Grandmaster level existence close by, even an Archmage ready to take action.

"I should have learned from Durum." She said, regretting the mistake she made.

She was too much in a hurry and killed that man without a moment’s notice, just because she was annoyed by him.

That was all the reason for her current misery.
