Chapter 323: 5.14.3 Death and other distractions.

Nothing, for I never knew the answer to such question. Or someone in my place shouldn’t know. I just looked at Sheva worriedly while taking looking for a potion, but it would seem, she had already used it on herself or someone else.

It was such desperation that won Remira over, who then hunched down and checked on Sheva’s body before concluding. "She is suffering through malnutrition. But It’s nothing serious." She said, while sending a few wisps of her energy directly through her blood once again.

Which she did when she originally placed a mental ward on Sheva’s mind just to prevent my intrusion in her mind. Which in turn probably earned her some ire from that crazy bone. But she went and did it again, out of ignorance of the current nature of things.

Helping me in a way. But that was all for later. Let her do what she wants, and I will do what I want. "Can you carry her?" Remira only asked me this question, for she didn’t let Rashid get close to either me, or Sheva who had been distant from her till now and probably possesses some weird strength out of nowhere after drinking some suspicious potion.

Nor would she dare to come close, for the same reason. So she made me carry Sheva, I became her chauffeur and rescuer. While my words and hands were occupied by her giant body that was too much for me to carry at all.

The most I can do is drag her after using the rope from my bag to bind her to my bag. "Don’t worry, we will escape from this place." I spoke words to her, seemingly acting a bit sentimental, but trying my hardest to hide that emotion, which in general made it appear genuine in the eyes of Remira.

But did it really? All of it depends on the end of this battle, whether the little plan of mine works or not.

So we went and followed the path where we came from. And this time, i also noticed some oddities.

"There are more than one corpse?" Corpses of the weird beings that could mimic the voice of your loved ones were strewn about in the area.

Some of them even appeared as Ikaros to me, my old friend.

And a few of them looked like Grifter, in all his rat glory, though considering how big this rat corpse were, it really was a bit odd.

Guess, this is reality. Either Remira killed all of them beforehand and hence the path ahead of us was free, or the Blue Rose truly was the reason for the boredom I experienced before.

"These words, did you write them?"

"No, from what I understand, it was my boss who did this. Probably for us." I spoke, letting Remira into the secret that Baldar was alive. Or she must have reached that conclusion on her own as I spoke of the details, but she didn’t speak any more words, what her experience with this Baldar was and how she felt a tinge of angered on being fooled by him.

But considering what kind of woman Sheva was, it was not all bad.

Like that, one floor after another, we finally reached the surface and were ready to leave this place.

’The mist.’

And like before, there was the mist I had seen before. And like I thought, neither Remira nor Rashid could see it. ’Want me to return to hell?’ I laughed, finding this little trick of the ruin a bit cute. Before walking into the mist that had been brought here by the ruin.

Or I should aptly call it, The Fog of Death.

The very first defense of the ruin to prevent beings like me from entering it. But, considering the flesh I resided in, it probably couldn’t touch me anymore, and I was correct.

’I have conquered the death, sun and everything else in between.’

Although weak, I really succeeded in many fronts with this singular body. A strength that can be cultivated at a later date.

But, I could only enjoy this little success after all of this was over. As after leaving the ruin, in front of me stood Henry. "Henry, you are still here?" Rashid was the first one to speak, while I hid my face while holding onto Sheva. But he still caught onto my existence easily, as I was the only dwarf in the group, and he asked with anger. "What did you do to her?"

"She is fine, Henry. So just go home, the game is over, and I am free as well. It’s the best case scenario for all of us."

"You... you brought him to this place?" Rashid asked me with anger, and I just shook my head. "He wanted to come himself, all I wanted was to find a way out of this." I made an excuse, before a small fight was going to break out between the two of us. But then, a shout came from Remira. "Enough, this is no time for talks." She warned, taking a step forward, but returning to her original place once again.

A scene that genuinely terrified me as well as Rashid, who without any pause tried to step forward as well, but found himself back at the entrance of the ruin.

"Henry, run." I shouted to him. But he watched in horror as a figure walked out of his shadow and looked toward Remira. "What were you thinking, dragging these children to that ruin?" He asked, before putting his hand on Henry’s shoulder and saying to him. "As for you, don’t you worry, just go home. You are blameless due to your ignorance, but if you chose to still help them from this point on, I don’t think your family would like it." As Lecarth spoke, a bunch of soldiers walked out from the forest, bringing Henry’s father along with them.

A scene that horrified him. "Henry, I don’t know what kind of trouble you have found yourself in, but listen to the officer."

There was no plan to involve Henry’s family in this, as it might just earn the ire of that existence. But considering the trouble Henry has found himself in, and how his sense of guilt and honor was overpowering his rationale, a tight punch to the gut was necessary.

"You dare to threaten that boy with his parents?" Remira shouted in anger, taking a striking pose while looking deeply toward Lecarth. Who just laughed it off and said. "You are in our country, stealing our relics and misleading our youths."

"That friend of this boy, Rashid, is also a spy from an enemy nation who once enslaved this land."

"The other boy carrying the soldier is a traitor, who dared to show his fangs against us after all we did for him."

"As for the soldier, that women fought hard for this country. Even when retired, she gave her all in a foreign place before you kidnapped her and gaslighted her into turning against the hand that fed her."

"The same case with this boy. Who is also misled by the bunch of you, including that little traitor."

"And although, you might have won in the ruins below, the same won’t happen again."

"I dare you to move from that place, that is, if you could."

A perfect checkmate, the moment they left the ruins, it was my world.

There was no other solution anyway, this was going to happen one way or another, which is my win. As this is my land, I control every aspect of this place, including the military that currently surrounded Remira.

"Sir, handle your boy, he seems a bit confused. I would ask to refer your son to a doctor for free if it’s needed." It was handled cleanly at this point. Henry was too ashamed to even speak and surprised how he was not treated like a criminal as he had expected. No, they still treated him like a child that made a mistake, and nothing more.

While for the rest of us? There was not much mercy left in Lecarth’s heart.

"Boy, if you don’t wish to live past the next 10 mins, I urge you to give me the relic you obtained from the ruins... That goblet."

A perfect checkmate.

I have won.

Or so I had thought until I noticed that the aim of the rifles started to shift as if they were following some phantom image and a smile appear on Lecarth’s face. "Good choice." He said while picking some item from the air.

"??"

A scene that confused me as well as Rashid, but Remira didn’t seem as confused. "Good timing." She said as a woman appeared from the dark, a woman I was very much familiar with. ’The owner of Tower of Contracts, Anna.’

’... an illusion is at play here, which means she is also here.’

’I had been had.’

"Should we kill them?" Anna questioned, as a small dog flew by her side, eyeing the surrounding men with some hunger. But Remira shook her head, before taking out her pistol and shooting Lecarth directly in the head.

And with a bang, his body fell to the ground. But no one reacted.

"..."

"Now we leave."

’One last look toward the failed apprentice who seemed to love romance novels for some odd reason, I vowed to myself, that I would turn Remira’s life a living hell.’

’As now, it would be personal for me.’

’I will let her know what true misery is.’

"Guess, we are saved?" I said with a smile, still appearing a bit shook from the recent turn of events.
