Chapter 220: 4.03.4 A mistake.

Remira’s reaction was much faster than Farhad’s, she had seen what was hidden behind the ice. The corpse appeared holding a similar resemblance to the Daugrs she had met before.

"This much ice won’t be able to hold them off for long," Remira said, before inching away from the ice wall, along with Farhad. "Captain, how about leaving this place and calling backup?... I believe the Cynark military will make little use of this place." Farhad suggested.

From what he understood, unlike the floor before. This one was the place where Daugrs were kept and the ones he saw before were just a little fraction of the actual amount, while most of them were sealed in the walls and frozen in ice.

"It will be easy for them to break out... but they didn’t," Remira said, unable to fathom how many there were here.

She even wondered what was going on in this place and how her family never noticed this mausoleum. No, with some thought, she wondered if the reason she couldn’t recall any details in her memory was because she was too young and her family obviously didn’t wish to tell such harrowing things to someone as young as her.

They probably knew, and if they knew, they obviously knew the danger of this place.

Then why are there no signs of damage in these paths? They were still ancient, with a single addition of wires and bulbs along the pathways. Showing that this path had been explored and actively in use.

How can such things be ignored by her family?

"Captain, if you know they can escape, then what are we doing here? Wouldn’t it be better to leave now?... Let’s call the military, there is an army down here."

At those words, Remira gave Farhad one look before asking. "You think the Cynark kingdom is unaware of this tomb?"

There was something eating away at Remira from the start when she regained her clarity.

It’s impossible for a facility like this to be built here, not to mention a mausoleum holding an army to go unnoticed. Which when matched with the previous Daugrs that she met before on the first floor of this mausoleum, showed that this place was actively researching these monsters.

An immortal army of their own.

And when her thoughts went deeper, Remira even wondered one thing.

If the curses or infection were a lie, to begin with, the lie was used to designate a danger zone while Cynark kept doing their research in the dark. Building up an army right out of the dark ages.

Maybe, the reason her parents died was much more sinister than she could imagine.

There was a lot more to it than meets the eye.

Hence, for this reason, she can’t move back. There is a high chance that the Doctor worked for Cynark to begin with.

A hidden cell, responsible for dangerous experiments which can’t be named in the files.

"I... If they had shelled this place, then it was highly unlikely. They should have found something during the ground sweep at least."

"That makes it so that we don’t have any choice, let’s go down below and meet with the real Doctor." With those words, Remira forced Farhad to walk her path, she dragged him to the third floor.

A floor which was much different than the one before. The moment Remira set her feet into it, her body swayed to the side as she was forced to take support on the wall.

"Captain?" Farhad tried to come close and see what happened, but suddenly his head felt a pang of pain as he lost his footing and stumbled on the ground.

"My bloo..." Before he could speak, his body started to steam as blood flowed out of his nose as well as his eyes.

He could feel it, his blood was flowing backward, and it was destroying his nerves and causing his brain to experience an aneurysm.

’I... I thought.." Farhad had considered himself immune to the curse. He never expected to fall so easily the moment he stepped into this place.

The pain he had forgotten for so long came in bulks, it was unlike anything he had ever seen. ’Re..v" He tried to speak, explain his feelings, but he could feel his soul being ripped apart and then merging again through the power of the Flames.

Each destruction was followed by creation, but it didn’t make him strong, the strength of his soul kept getting weaker, bringing him closer to death.

"Wh..?" Before he could die though, Remira grabbed his feet and then dragged him out of the floor and back to floor two, while her hairs danced like flames into the air.

"This is Taboo." She knew what it was.

Forbidden powers, they are remnants of memory or aura of a strong being, whose mere existence affects the rules of reality.

To some, it’s a huge collection of information concentrated in a place, which a human mind can’t fathom, making one go crazy.

There are very few people that retain some immunity to it and there are studies done in an attempt to understand these Taboo.

Farhad was once employed by Maxim Hailey, Remira’s superior in an attempt to enter the dream that encompassed the land of Durum. It was where his mark went off and he lost his life. Becoming a puppet to Jester’s pleasure.

Now the things he read in books were present in the air. Their mere touch had brought death to Farhad, who can be considered immortal by this point.

As for the reason why Remira remained immune. It was simple.

That’s how strong her blood was.

"Foolish, even we don’t dare to go there." A voice echoed in the air causing Remira to look at its source, before finding a small speaker not too far away.

"I will burn you alive if you don’t shut up. " She threatened the voice while looking at Farhad, who had already started to heal.

But she understood that this healing is only on a surface level.

From what she could feel, this level of corruption brought by the Taboo was on a spiritual level. His body might seem unharmed, but no one can say that for his state of mind.

"The pain will end, accept our condition and help us. None of this would have happened if you had signed the contract." The voice said before it turned distorted as Remira destroyed the speaker.

"Come on, get up, we have to keep on moving." She said, waking up the groggy Farhad, who still seemed to be in shock, before falling to the floor again.

"This..." Turning around, she saw a total of three Daugrs walk out of the corners.

’Shit.’ She knew there was no other choice than to go all out. ’I just hope they are arrogant.’ She thought before her body burst into flames as she dashed toward the Daugrs.

Her plan was simple this time.

She is going to brute force it, she is going to destroy the paths, the daugrs hidden in them and she will break the path until she comes across the place the Doctor had been staying in till now.

As for going to the third floor?

She didn’t believe anyone was capable of surviving that place, it was too horrific and that was the only entrance. She can’t imagine what kind of thing had been buried here. But it was obviously one of those Daemons. Or someone of that level.

As for Farhad?

She believed his lack of heat would keep these undead daugrs away from him.

Just the very fact that they always came for her instead of Farhad was proof enough that they still functioned similarly to normal undead.

’And after she had captured that Doctor and his group, she would come back and defrost Farhad.

"Fools, she is a fool, like Professor said." Doctor Dinesh said, after learning that the speaker had been destroyed.

"Gehena, I wonder how far you think she can come?" Pal asked Gehena, while on his back, a bunch of fresher Daugrs kept their eyes on Remira’s position as if they were following her position through the walls.

"Richards says she had abandoned the boy... she might directly be aiming for us. She might just succeed."

"Abandoning that baggage does give her an advantage. From the vibrations, she is obviously not holding back anymore. She really seems to be from the One-eyed Wolf bloodline." Dinesh said while looking at the last cell, where the skeletal remains of a bizarre beast were kept. "Even that thing seemed to awaken when she arrived here."

The skeleton was that of a huge dog, or so it appeared to be. There were still some mutated bones, spurs, and skeletal structures that appeared to belong to that of a human.

"What do you mean doctor?"

"It’s obvious the thing below hates her kind... just keep watch over her, along with the newly awakened Daugrs, if possible, I would love one of them in my cages."

"Doctor, I would prefer if you capture them yourself. You know, my abilities don’t work on those things."

"Hah, excuses. Just go and ask Richard, he is a fast fella. He will supplement you."

"What about Remira? She seems to be aiming for this place?... With me gone, who will protect you?"

"Don’t worry... I have my means." The Doctor said while taking out a file. "She won’t touch me." Dinesh was confident in his backup.

He believes that Remira won’t harm him, even if she were to come at him with the intention to kill after she showed her this file.

Of course, Gehena didn’t think that would happen. She was good at reading people, she could know the nature of a person the moment she met them. And the same was true with Remira. She understood that even if Remira was not bloodthirsty, she was definitely not one of the sane ones.
