Chapter 218: 4.03.2 One Sentence.

Fight?

Farhad was in no mood for that, his eyes were focused on something else instead.

’The fire.’ The fire that burned Remira’s body was glistening as it was painful for him, all he could do was hide behind as she struck the closest Daugr, which was somehow able to keep up with Remira’s speed and use its stone sword to parry it. But the monster couldn’t stop the fiery kick that struck it, throwing it to the floor.

Intelligence and moveset were nothing in front of absolute power and Remira was much smarter than these undeads anyway.

Before the others could come close, she used her sword and struck the fallen Daugr in its chest, causing sparks to light up the darkness while a low grunt came from the mouth of the undead.

Farhad had thought he would see a similar scene as he had done before, where the body of the undead would be burned to death undead Remira’s might. A scene that never came to pass.

Almost as if grabbing a stick, the Daugr ignored its injury and the flames on the sword as he grabbed it with his left hand to hold it in, while its right hand slashed at Remira.

Forcing her to dodge to the back, with her sword in her hand.

"It was a trap." Remira knew, if not for her inhuman strength that overpowered most in her realm, she wouldn’t have been able to snatch her sword from the Daugr’s grip. He was that strong.

And if it was someone else in her place, including other Radiant Knights, they might have fared much worse in her position.

But how? She wondered, the flames in her hand were the nemesis of curses, and there was nothing in this world that could overturn this rule.

It was at this time that Farhad spoke. "They are not true curse-born creatures, but artificial ones made through magic. And if it’s as I expected, there must be a core that is operating inside their body and driving it."

Even though these creatures were a mixture of curses and magic, it was not something new. There is a reason why mages hated the Radiant Knights and it was generally that they were blamed for coveting the powers of curses and researching dangerous curses for their own need.

Creating abominations and creatures that didn’t belong to one side and hence were harder to counter.

And Daugrs can be considered one of them as well.

If Farhad’s understanding was sound, then unlike nominal undead who were nothing more than a brainless and soulless husk of flesh driven by a curse, the one in front of him possessed the body molded by a curse, as well as driven by an undead core made through necromancy magic, which probably contained the soul of the servant which accepted the baptism and turned himself into this creature.

"So what do you suggest?" Remira asked while facing the two Daugrs that had closed in on her. Her swords caused sparks against their skin, while their attack kept pushing Remira back. It was why, seeing that it wouldn’t be easy to defeat these creatures unless she unlocked some of her blood potential, she asked Farhad for suggestions.

Although she had learned about these kinds of creatures during her training, it was the first time she faced something like this.

"I don’t have much... I never completed my studies. But wouldn’t ripping their head off be good enough?" Farhad’s words made Remira vexed, but she knew she was expecting too much from this young man.

She knows his circumstances better than he does, or so she thinks. She didn’t notice Farhad’s habit of striking the necks of his opponents by accidentally slipping from his lips.

A habit he had cultivated in the ring of rats during his previous life, it was the fastest way to take down his brethren and now, he instinctively always went for people’s necks.

As for Remira, she knew that there was no other choice if she wished to end this early before the others arrived."Sigh, I didn’t want to use this so early." After creating some distance, she changed the cylinder of her revolver at a brisk pace, before firing at the heads of these monsters one by one.

*Bang *bang, came the sound, followed by a hole appearing in the hair of this undead from which a dark oil-like substance flowed out. An attack that flinched the two Daugrs, as their actions suddenly turned rigid.

Then Remira fired one more at the first Daugr that had long stood up and was aiming for her.

Once again, it was on its head. And this Daugr could do nothing but stand still as if something terrible had struck it, making its movements similar to the two before.

"We enter that hole," Remira said, pointing towards the hole through which the Daugr had crawled out. And Farhad followed her without stopping for a single moment or lest he be surrounded.

"Those bullets, what kind of bullets were they?" Farhad asked. From what he understood, until the core was harmed, there was no way to actually defeat those things unless you used absolute force.

And from what he could tell, those bullets of Remira had barely damaged these Monsters. Meaning it’s not the damage that affected them, but the bullets were somewhat special to begin with.

"Anti-magic, the three of them already cost me six months of salary." Of course, she had obtained them for free from the quartermaster in case of emergencies, which she considered this one to be.

"You... how did you know they would work?" Farhad asked, curious over why Remira would use something so precious on those Daugrs.

It doesn’t mean he considered her a fool for using them, as life was always more important than money. But her choice still appeared a bit brazen in his eyes.

For all she knew, there was a low chance of her bullets to do the trick in this case, as these creatures were a mixture of two, they might have some immunity to their counters.

"You can’t know unless you try." She said before moving ahead at a fast pace, but meeting no enemy on this floor. Leaving Farhad to wonder if his captain had a plan to begin with.

The Church of Red Sun was one of the three Primary denominations of the Saturum Pantheon, which was also commonly known to hold the gods of the sky.

The Church of Red Sun believed in the divinity of the sun, the holder of Life and Death of all beings.

To them, the morning signified the birth of a new life, while the dusk signified their death and generally, they were one of the most common temples that one went to with their dead for funeral proceedings, Usually led by the priest of the Red sun.

And today Kassandra was standing among such people, surrounded by the priest of Red Sun, also called Reapers as slang.

"Are you sure you want to talk here? This doesn’t seem the right place for it." Kassandra said to the Red Sun reaper, whose face was twisted in anger, but looking at the death rites, he could only nod his head before pointing her towards the temple exit.

"You are still the same as ever." She laughed with allure as she ignored the weird gazes of the mortals sent her way, and asked to leave the temple under the accompaniment of Church Knights who currently wore casual clothes to not startle the people.

But all of them were at an edge due to the intruder, as they were privy to her identity.

Her name was Kassandra and she once used to be the Tower Master in Durum until a certain event. But this was an identity she came to possess much later, in truth, she had a different identity before becoming the Tower Master.

"Kassandra, speak now, you only have one chance. That’s all I can give you, after the stunt you pulled off in Durum." The Priest was named Aaron Gelled, the head priest responsible for the Rotun City’s church and also the one who ran multiple orphanages in his free time.

And Kassandra was someone who grew up in one of them.

"Sorry, it was a bit late, but as I expected, he was there. He was there for a long while and worked with the same people I shook my hands with." At those words, the eyes of Aaron turned sharp.

"I made sure of his death that day in Yethel, there is no way for him to survive." The blood of Red Sun that flowed in his veins was privy to deaths and life. He could feel the life of that monster had come to an end, he had even used divination to make sure his blood didn’t lie to him.

It was next to impossible for this to happen.

"No... I was right. He lived and we both know what kind of thing he is. You should already know what happened to Varkus Maisel, right? And even that Marshall from Radiant Church. Both of them lost their life there... a coincidence?"

"... If he wanted to take their life, he had ample time for revenge? Why would he stay silent till now?’ There was a hint of fear on Aaron’s face, he had long forgotten the ’One’ sentence condition he set on Kassandra.

That’s how riled up he was.

"It’s up to you whether to believe me or not. I just came to warn you...." Kassandra said, before smiling and saying. "He controlled the rats in the city... a lot of them. So keep away from them for the time being."

With those words, Kassandra’s body faded into mist, letting the Knights that surrounded them know that what they saw was just a mere illusion.

While Aaron?

He ran back to the church. He had to warn them.
