The God of Jesters
Chapter 100 - 2.27.4 Time to convene.

Chapter 100: 2.27.4 Time to convene.

It was four hundred years ago when the traces of their lost god were detected in place. It was a time, when the land was isolated, covered in the woods of an ancient forest.

But it was this discovery that led to the downfall of Blue Lotus, as countless of their believers in an attempt to acquire the knowledge left by their god, went on to explore the forest on their own, letting the truth out about this place.

Which led to the creation of the city. A mistake that they regret to this day. If not controlling their members properly, then they would have been able to act in this place freely, without the need to hide.

Though, this hate existed only till they met a bizarre wraith that came to them in their dreams.

"The art in the sewers is ugly and won’t work, the foundation is weak.’ He found their attempt of reviving their god laughable. He claimed to have witnessed a revival of the likes before and had scars to prove it.

It was why the leader of Blue Lotus approved of working together with him, led by their golden child that succeeded in retaining parts of his memory from his past life, Adam.

The Wraith, together with the new Cadre Adam worked in secret, not even letting Vanessa Bullworth, the original leader of the Durum branch know of their true plan.

All she knew was how to proceed with the plan when the time comes. A plan built by others that she knew nothing about. Which was hard for her to digest. But as long as the power of the contract stopped the Wraith from sabotaging their plan, she didn’t care for the rest of the things.

He already did most of the work.

"Dantalia took her time?" Vanessa said while turning toward the teleportation circle which lit up and brought Dantalia whose face was covered in an ice mask, while there were traces of blood and burns over her clothes.

While on her back, Dantalian’s men carried a woman that Vanessa too was very familiar with. "You didn’t kill her? Good." The injuries on the face and the damage her pupil received mattered not. She was just happy that her pupil didn’t kill the girl so easily after being driven by emotions.

"I wish to kill her in front of that wraith." A voice that sounded hoarse as the nerves of her throat were as burnt as her face, but Dantalia held in her anger and emotion, showing a cold ruthlessness that she showed Remira before.

Causing Vanessa to feel a bit proud over such a change in her pupil. "That face of yours, we will fix it after this is over."

She said, then waiting for the other parties to arrive here one by one who wished to witness the arrival of a god.

And as she thought, this huge cavern soon filled with multiple lights as one by one, the people that had helped her in the city slowly materialized over the teleportation circles.

None of them hid their face, there was no need to hide them anymore. This was the goal they were pursuing since the start and unlike some members who were only taken in due to the identity and power they held in the city, these people of different backgrounds, all originated from the Blue Lotus.

Only integrating themselves into different organizations just to make the operations of Blue Lotus in the city more covert.

This event included the Police chief, who had abandoned his pathetic gait and came here bearing a rifle on his back and a knife on his waist. From his equipment, he surely saw someone who came here to fight others.

And many like him did the same, appearing here just for one purpose alone.

That was to stop any intruders and witness the resurrection of their god.

"Everyone from our side is here... besides one key ingredient," Vanessa commented as she looked around, before turning to look over her head, where a small mechanical construct was mimicking the sky of Durum, where the Moons and stars aligned slowly with each passing second.

"They seem a bit late." She thought before turning to look at her pupil. "Dantalian, bring that girl to the side. There is no need to sully the eyes of our members with her disgusting presence."

"As for the rest, I am glad that you all came at such an opportune time. There is no need to mention the struggle and pain we all went through for the completion of our plan and I know how everyone was sad and frustrated after what happened two decades ago."

"But things are right on track and we are ever closer to our goal."

"Before this night is over, Blue Rose will walk among us, bringing us the knowledge that has been lost with time."

As her speech went on, the fervor among the men got stronger.

Their goal was close at hand and all of them understood the kind of enemies that would attack them.

Even if the leaders of Blue Lotus had somehow caused friction between the Military and Mages, which broke out in the war. Certain sects and most of the leading figures of the towers were still uninjured and can be deployed anytime.

Making the upcoming war if they were found out to be troublesome.

Which is why they had to be ready. They can’t make any mistakes or let others cause any problems.

But while this speech of Vanessa was going on, another teleportation lit up, bringing with it a young man who had a rat on his shoulder.

"Vanessa, I thank thee for managing the plan well, under my absence." A man with a young face and an astute mood, spoke in a calm manner that looked unlike that of his age, showing age and experience that he rarely let off in real life.

But there was no need to keep falsehoods anymore, his presence and authoritative aura caused many of the Blue Lotus members to drop their heads down in reverence to the one that "Succeeded".

Jealousy and fear were written all over the faces of many members, as they backed up to make way for Adam to reach the podium.

Most of them knew the political tensions between the two parties. And I believe a fight might have broken out between the two of them.

But Vanessa just silently stood aside, giving it away to Adam, while the rat on his shoulder fell from it to the floor and then died on its own.

Leaving many members confused and weirded out, while those in the know turned to look around them, wondering if there were more eyes on them.

"There is nothing to worry about, the wraith is asleep. He won’t be much of a problem." Adam spoke, before turning to look at Remira who was placed on the side. ’But he will create an issue.’

’No, he had already created one.’

He thought, knowing that the absence of Maisel at this point meant that the bastard had done something already.

The teleporters were meant to be activated all at once, and then they would remain active for a certain time before turning dormant. Meaning, in a few minutes, if the last member didn’t arrive here, their plan would go all up in flames.

And they had to modify it and take some chances.

"Cadre Adam, I didn’t expect you to request that wraiths help to escape that place?"

"His servant is the reason I fell into it, of course, he had to bring me out. But I thank you for worrying over my safety Cadre Vanessa." These words were meant to let Vanessa know that he didn’t make a new contract with the wraith and it was just the Wraith paying back for the servant’s mistake.

Which was a lie, as the Wraith’s dog was never under the Wraith’s control completely.

But this was important to not be considered a liability by Vanessa, who might use that as an excuse to usurp him.

And while they talked, a teleporter finally lit up, bringing with it a total of three figures.

The last ones are here." Adam spoke, turning to look at Maisel with a bound boy on his shoulder, while on the back walked a young man with insect-like antennae growing out of his forehead.

Though many were confused about who this person was. Besides the top brass, no one else knew what was going to happen from now on. They didn’t even know how the ritual worked.

All of them were blind like bats, wondering who this important figure was, who brought with him a bound boy.

Which to most seemed like a sacrifice.

"That man’s eyes, they are not dark... Cadre Vanessa, don’t tell me you failed." Even through the mask, Adam can see the bright shining eyes that were not under the influence of darkness that came with the curse of isolation.

No, they blazed with hope and fury.

"Don’t act blind Cadre Adam, the man is covered in that curse. How he can beat it, I don’t know." Vanessa said those words, but she can see the answer right on Maisel’s shoulder.

"Yes, it seems my eyes are losing focus."

Then Adam moved forward, not intending to hide his face. "Varkus Maisel, I am glad that you came here on time."

"You... you were that boy!"

"Calling me a boy is not right, even in my previous life, I lived for a hundred and fifty years. Making me much older than you."
