The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL] -
Chapter 430: Dusk till Dawn
Chapter 430: Dusk till Dawn
*Jie’s perspective*
As Jie observed the scene unfolding in Blooming Courtyard, he couldn’t help but feel a swell of warmth in his heart.
The darkness of the night was lifting and the light of dawn would be upon them soon. The darkness of the early days were lifting ever so slowly, but even in the light, sadness could still find them.
Despite the distance separating them, the expressions on their faces were crystal clear even in the dim light of pre-dawn. His keen eyesight allowed him to discern the details with ease.
Their conversation poured into his ears without any buffer. He heard them more clearly than the conversation going on beside him... he wasn’t nosey at all... he was just watching out for his brother in arms...
The most eye catching of the group was Min, tall and refined in his stance, cradling the adorable little ger, Lee Mo, in his arms.
When one’s eyes landed on the plump little dumpling, it was all they could see. The little dumpling, Xiao Momo, had become more and more plump and lovely with each passing day.
The child was talented in the same way Min was, he had the gift of a honey tongue and his smile could pull one’s heart strings.
Even the usually stoic Bo couldn’t resist showering him with affection. Jie couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Min, radiating joy as he held the cherished little ger.
Standing beside Min was Lee Hua, the widowed ger with delicate features and a quiet strength that hid his suffering. In spite of all the hardships he had endured, he exuded a sense of resilience that was truly admirable.
And by his side, his daughter Xiao An, a delightful bundle of restrained energy with a hint of mystery surrounding her. The girl was naturally calculative, but it was clear who she cherished. It was a shrewdness that Lee Hua and Lee Mo needed, a silent protector for their small family.
The four of them seemed to form a harmonious new unit, their differences and similarities complementing each other in perfect harmony.
Though they may appear mismatched at first glance, there was an undeniable bond that bound them together.
Jie couldn’t find any fault. He tried, but he found none that would be enough to restrict Min’s growing interest in the family of three.
He would need to look further into the origins of Lee An. She clearly loved her family, but she was most likely not Lee Hua’s child. A ger couldn’t give birth to a daughter, only a ger or a son.
If Min was set on Lee Hua this needed to be investigated further. This though wasn’t a deal breaker for a demon beast, children were to be cherished.
As Jie took in the scene before him, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the newfound happiness that had blossomed.
With a contented sigh, Jie watched the widowed ger as he smiled from the far corner. And as he glanced at Min, grinning from ear to ear, he knew that they had found a sense of belonging that he had unknowingly been searching for.
He had known Min since the boy was just seven years old. This was a time when Min seemed like an unlikely candidate to serve their master, Jian.
Min wasn’t the most promising brother, he was actually the most lack luster of the group. He was lacking the impressive qualifications and demon beast heritage of some of their other brothers.
Yet, there was something about the young boy that they couldn’t ignore. Perhaps it was his resilience, his determination, or simply the kindness in his heart that had compelled them to take him in after the loss of his mother.
Jie reminisced about those early days when he and Bo had debated leaving Min behind to teach Jian an important lesson in impartiality.
A dragon shouldn’t be too soft-hearted. They couldn’t save everyone. Too much kindness would only be their downfall.
But in the end, they couldn’t bear to hurt their young master’s heart. After his mother was buried, Min joined their ranks dedicating his life to protecting Jian.
And it was the right decision.
Despite not being the most skilled in martial arts, Min had grown into a fine man, his talents lying elsewhere.
He had matured in ways that surpassed their expectations, becoming someone that Jie couldn’t help but feel proud of. His martial arts talent had developed with hard work and dedication. The boy trained twice as hard as anyone even their newest training partner, Xu Hu Zhe.
Now, as they looked towards the future, it was clear that Min would play a big role in realizing their mistress’s vision of opening a business and sustaining the people of Nanshan.
Alongside Liu and the others, Min would help bring Xu Feng’s dream to life, and keep this little family together.
Bo had surveyed several slave markets in Beyin and had selected a mix of carefully chosen individuals who eventually found a home in Nanshan Estate.
These were not your typical servants, not considered the best of any group. They were a diverse group of people, each with their own story and struggles.
From older children to widows and widowers with children, from couples who refused to be separated to older men seeking refuge, they all had one thing in common: they had nowhere else to turn.
Bo had taken great care in selecting these individuals, ensuring that they would fit into the unique dynamics of the estate and would fit their mistresses’ standards.
It wasn’t an easy task, but he had done his best.
Yet, despite his efforts, there were still challenges, particularly among the younger women and gers who vied for the attention of the two men with the Xu surname, hoping to secure a more stable position within the estate.
Jie couldn’t help but shake his head at the thought of these petty rivalries. Even with a stable home, there would always be some conflict between people.
They would leave Nanshan for several days. Would everything be okay in their absence?
