Chapter 368: Sorry I Can’t Stay
Chapter 368: Sorry I Can’t Stay
It was one sentence.
It was only five words, but still the room grew silent instantly. The air was charged with power and the unignorable command.
All motion ground to a halt, and as if compelled, Midwife Lee did as he was told. All the while the midwife shivered. This wasn’t right, he knew it deep down, but he was powerless to defy the silver haired ger with the glowing eyes.
Midwife Lee wanted to insist on making some concoction or other, to fight for his new benefactor’s life, or at least not abandon it. Xu Feng had the strongest will he had ever seen in a new dad. In any person.
The situation was so bleak, but still, he pushed out not one, but two, TWO healthy eggs while his body grew colder and colder. Yet this person wanted him to give up on them without a fight.
Midwife Lee didn’t know when, but new tears welled up in his eyes as he followed the new commands.
’Cover me up and leave.’ Played on repeat in his head, a haunting melody he couldn’t refuse or escape.
Xu San had placed both eggs in the prepared basket, but at the spine tingling command from her master, the eggs began to shake violently. Rocking back and forth as though they would spill out unto the ground with a moment’s notice or crash into each other.
Without any recollection, Xu San found herself with the first egg in hand, the other still rocking in the basket, but there was no longer a chance of the two eggs crashing into each other. If she was in her right mind, she might have noticed the egg in her hand was shaking with enough strength to cause her to rock back and forth, just to keep it stable.
But she wasn’t in her right mind. Her everything was focused on Xu Feng. This wasn’t her first time seeing her master like this.
This power was a dividing line between them. He had given her his name—the name Xu—a place to belong, a purpose, and a family, but he was still her master. He was still so powerful, so awe inspiring, even as she could see the life fading from his body.
Xu San almost wanted to prostrate herself right there and bow.
She stood shell shocked by the might in the ger’s command, tears streaming down her face openly. She couldn’t hold back the sadness, the loss.
All the while, only a few seconds had passed. Xu Hu Zhe also felt the command as he reached the door, his body was compelled by the more powerful immortal bloodline carrier...no, the powerful demon beast.
Even the bounds of Dongzhou continent were failing to keep his power under wraps as a wisp of dominance raged over Xu Hu Zhe.
A few seconds passed like this, and the power of the ger, like his life force was fading rapidly. As soon as he could move again, Xu Hu Zhe swung open the door, hoping the midwife had made his master look less pitiful somehow.
He knew Xu Feng wouldn’t want his last encounter with his husbands to be one marred by the bloody birth of their children.
The door swung open for only a second, but it was enough time for the teen to exit the room and the two men who were now waiting at the door to rush in.
All three men it seemed had taken Xu Feng’s warning to heart at least slightly. When the time came, they didn’t hesitate to bolt into action, no time was wasted in moments of denial.
Xu Feng could feel the energy fading from his body, he couldn’t hold out anymore, only go with the flow. He knew it was wrong to compel the humans in the room, but he wanted to see his lovers one last time.
He also knew it was wrong of him to be so blunt with his lovers and Xu Hu Zhe, but he wanted them to be ready. From the beginning, he never believed he would survive this pregnancy. Not when he knew he was pregnant with twins.
He hoped he would, but he didn’t believe it. He planned for a life after this night, showing whatever optimism he had left, but he didn’t ever truly believe he would survive.
Xu Feng had been given so much happiness—Xuan Jian, Xuan Yang, Xu Hu Zhe, Xu San, Xu Si, Bai Mo, Xu Zeng, and now Xiao Long and Da Long. How could he have so much happiness?
If this was his small piece of happiness for losing his life before the apocalypse truly began, he wasn’t upset.
It was more than enough. He was the one being greedy now.
So damn greedy. A tear trickled down his face as he watched the heart broken expressions on his lovers’ faces.
He knew he would hurt them even in their last goodbye, but he wanted to see them both, and touch them both one last time.
"Get out."
Two words escaped Xuan Jian’s lips that seemed like lead.
The same phenomenon repeated itself. It was as though the room was charged with power. Not a waning power like Xu Feng’s but one brimming with life and sparking with authority.
It couldn’t be ignored, it couldn’t be rebuffed. The power was electric, and in a fraction of a second, Xu San and Midwife Lee were on the floor, their knees sore.
Xu San’s shivering grew so heavy, she had to lay the egg back in the cot as her body began to convulse.
"Now." Xuan Jian clenched his jaw so hard it was a miracle his teeth hadn’t broken against the strain.
The third word was more charged than the first two almost pushing the two ground bound humans to crawl out of the room like their lives depended on it.
With two less bodies in the room, Xuan Yang moved toward the door on shaky legs, seeming as though he would collapse at any moment. He was bent on closing it, and not falling over.
The straight back of the scholar was hunched. The silver haired ger had done what no other could boast—stolen his heart and broken it.
