The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL] -
Chapter 366: Labor 2
Chapter 366: Labor 2
Time had slowed down, or perhaps it was just that he had lost too much blood. Everything smelt like blood. The metallic acrid smell coated every corner of the small room, making it seem smaller than it was.
The candles and lanterns strewn around the room should have lit up the space, and perhaps it did, but to Xu Feng, there was a haze. The world was red tinged.
In another burst of wisdom, he searched his sleeves sluggishly with his fingers for any remnant seeds to help speed his thinking. There was no more. He had drained the life of all the seeds.
Xu Feng had even drained the few plants left in this former plant nursery unknowingly. It was a room of death. He was hoping the other ger, hadn’t noticed the peculiarity. But then again, Midwife Lee was so overcome by duty to notice.
Xuan Jian had done a good job choosing a midwife. This one was thorough and focused. Maybe in another life things would have gone smoothly.
Even as most of his senses seemed to fail miserably, his ability seemed to strengthen, as if keeping a sinking boat barely afloat on the sea. Xu Feng could feel the strongest energy—Xuan Jian—wrapped around the third strongest energy—Xuan Yang.
The two men found comfort in each other and were a bit farther away from the door. It was exactly the perfect timing.
The second strongest, or maybe he should say bright, it was about the brightness of the energy. His of course was brighter than any other in Nanshan Estate.
Xu Feng looked down at his hands, the energy around it was not so bright any longer. The shine was fading, he was dulling?
At this realization, a hint of fear pierced through his haze once more, giving him a bit more focus. He needed to focus on Xu Hu Zhe the second brightest energy in the estate.
With his eyes trained on the door, completely ignorant to Midwife Lee’s commands, as soon as Xu San opened the door, he called for the nervous teen pacing back and forth. As their eyes made contact, Xu Feng felt as though, there was still hope.
Xu Hu Zhe was a smart one. Very smart, he could bet his life on that.
He would bet his and his children’s lives on it.
"Feng," a pained call echoed from the teen’s throat as he strode into the room a large bucket of steaming water in hand.
The call was followed by the teary, guttural voices of the other wild animals in his trio, "Feng Feng!" "Feng!"
Xu San wisely closed the door before the two men could break through into the room, before they could even detangle from each other.
There would be time for Xu Feng to say goodbyes, for now, he was still trying. He hadn’t given up quite yet. Even as Xu Hu Zhe stared at him from the corner of the bed.
Seeing the blood was something else. He and the other two immortal bloodline carriers/demon beasts could no doubt smell the blood through the door, but seeing the state Xu Feng was in shocked the gentle giant into silence. Tears fell from his eyes without pause.
The pleas from beyond the door couldn’t divert Xu Feng’s attention, nor could Midwife Lee’s short words directed at Xu Hu Zhe—this was his protector indeed. Xu Feng knew exactly why the teen had chosen the name, and he chose not to discourage him.
Now he knew it was a destiny, a fate in itself. Erlang, now Xu Hu Zhe was his protector. It was uncontestable.
All of Xu Feng’s focus was on Xu Hu Zhe, the one who could make a difference, nothing and no one else mattered now. "Flip me." He whispered knowing the teen had heard and would comply.
The request sparked more chaos, an argument between Midwife Lee and Xu Hu Zhe—one in which Hu Zhe completely ignored the other and unilaterally lowered him to fuss. After a tense negotiation with himself, Midwife Lee watched Xu Hu Zhe, tears in his eyes, his hands shaking as he gazed down at Xu Feng.
What was going through the midwife’s head? Who knew? This scene though was no doubt a first for him.
An attempt at a smile faltered on Xu Feng’s lips. Maneuvering into a new position, he found himself on hands and knees. With every seed expended from his sleeves, he struggled to hold himself up, the blood loss was too much.
In this vulnerable state, the professional Midwife Lee exhibited exasperation at Xu Feng’s unconventional requests. The scene unfolded in a heartbeat, and he couldn’t stop the mistress bent on having his own way even in this broken state.
"Close your eyes," Xu Feng whispered to the teen whose tears had never stopped, his hands still holding Xu Feng up.
Xu Hu Zhe had no idea what Xu Feng was up to, neither did Xu San or the expert Midwife Lee, but he complied instantly, before his eyes shot back open.
He quickly shoved over two bundles of seeds near Xu Feng’s delicate fingers. The silver haired ger smiled at him with a deep emotion in his eyes, "Thank you, my Hu Zhe."
With that, his protector finally closed his eyes, gritting his teeth for whatever was to come, but still carrying most of the ger’s weight in his hands.
Xu Feng’s robes were blood soaked. Even the modesty blankets draped around his lower body were caked with blood.
In this new position, Midwife Lee was furious. He was already trying to calculate which life should be saved. Could he save one or two eggs? Would he need to sacrifice the mistress in front of him for the ger?
Now, he put these messy thoughts out of his mind for a minute and took the chance to remove the bloodied blankets, and cloth, replacing them with new ones where possible. Xu San soon caught on, and sped up the process. Then they heard another command.
"I’m ready. Continue."
