Chapter 363: Bitter Concoction [Bonus]

Karma was a bi*ch.

Xu Feng went from dealing out bitter medicine to receiving a bitter medicinal concoction in return. He harassed Xuan Jian, who never picked on him, and the heavens had unleashed their wrath on him!

Okay, okay, he was being dramatic.

He knew the concoction was being brewed, and Xu Si and Midwife Lee had left the room some time ago. The concoction was bound to be served eventually. It was either that or some herbs and wine.

The transition from the bathing room back to Xu Feng’s bedroom was a comical spectacle for the two children, Xiao An and Xiao Momo.

The towering trio—Xu Hu Zhe, Xuan Jian, and Xuan Yang—had to stoop their heads to pass through the comparatively lower door frame. It was a sight that left the children wide eyed, adding another layer of wonder to the series of surprises they had encountered.

Not only that, the three giants seemed to have a small fight about who would carry the silver haired ger back to bed, abandoning them to Xu San.

As the group returned to the bedroom, the three giants carefully navigated their way around Xu Feng, who was once again propped up in bed. This time, the support came from actual pillows, not the towering figures behind him.

With the group of people in the room, Xuan Jian lost his position as Xu Feng’s cushion.

The children, adorned in silky new robes in bright blue and green colors that were so vibrant even their village chief couldn’t afford it were blissfully ignorant of Xu Feng’s underlying anxiety.

They marveled at the strange sight of the men bending and hovering around the silver haired ger for only a few moments, before going back to stroking their soft and bright new clothing.

There weren’t even any patches in them!

With a neutral expression that concealed his apprehension, Xu Feng gazed toward the door, contemplating the inevitable entry of Xu Si and Midwife Lee into the room.

He knew he needed to grant Xu Si and Midwife Lee into his bedroom for the outside room, but...he didn’t want to. Without another thought he began to rub his belly nervously. ’You guys don’t want any bitter medicine either right?’

The room became a bustling space, bodies filling the available space around Xu Feng’s bed. Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang claimed their spots on right side of the bed, closest to Xu Feng, providing unwavering support to the silver haired ger.

At the foot of the bed, Xu San and Xu Hu Zhe took their places, with the two children, it created a lively space.

As Xu Feng prepared to open his lips to allow entry for Xu Si and Midwife Lee, a small voice cut through the room’s tension. "Secret?" came the curious inquiry from Xiao Momo, stationed at the foot of the bed.

Xu Feng couldn’t help but smile. In the middle of the newness of puppies and the fresh clothes adorning him, the little one hadn’t forgotten about the promised secret. Xiao An’s eyes were also fixed on Xu Feng, eager for more details.

Turning his gaze to the two men by his side, Xu Feng chuckled, aware of his limited mobility. With some reluctant shuffling from Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, Xu Feng’s request was granted. A small laugh escaped him as the children were brought closer to the bed by a certain masked giant, ready to receive the whispered secret.

"No one except for Xu Hu Zhe knows, but the eggs have secret names," Xu Feng declared in a low voice, pointing at his belly.

Xiao An, nestled in Xu Hu Zhe’s right hand, had a clear view, and Xiao Momo, held in Xu Hu Zhe’s left hand, craned his neck to catch every word. Despite the mask Xu Hu Zhe wore, they didn’t seem scared of the teen at all.

They were rather comfortable in his arms.

Xu Feng disclosed the names with a sly finger to his lips, emphasizing the confidentiality of the secret.

With his two lovers’ eyelines blocked by Xu Hu Zhe’s hulking figure and a bit of maneuvering, Xu Feng pointed at his belly, making sure the two children understood, "Da Long and Xiao Long."

With new knowledge, the children looked delighted to share this exclusive secret with the silver haired uncle and the one with the face mask—Xu Hu Zhe.

Realizing he couldn’t postpone matters any longer, Xu Feng called for Xu Si and Midwife Lee to enter.

Midwife Lee’s gaze couldn’t help but gravitate towards his two children like a magnetic force.

Initially, his eyes casually swept over the two kids, but there was an undeniable pull that drew his attention back to them. The transformation brought about by the new clothing was nothing short of astonishing.

Though still petite and too slender, the exquisite silk garments highlighted their figures, and there was a newfound confidence shining in their eyes. They carried themselves differently, yet maintained a sense of understanding about their place among the adults.

As Midwife Lee entered the bedroom, his children greeted him with bright smiles, their excitement contained within the circle of grown ups. Holding a concoction in his hands, Midwife Lee expressed profuse gratitude to Xu Feng for the clothing.

He didn’t entertain the thought of returning them, knowing the silver haired ger wouldn’t accept them back even if offered. Selfishly, he reveled in the joy of seeing his children adorned in the silky attire that set them apart from the villagers they left behind.

Witnessing his children in such finery warmed his heart, and the prospect of a new life away from the judgments of his family seemed brighter.

Midwife Lee wiped his eyes discreetly, moved by Xu Feng’s kindness.

Even if the intention was to keep him around, it was a fair trade for leaving Han Village. Returning to that place was never part of his plan.

He aimed to find a new village, far away from the disdain of his family, and start anew when Xuan Jian offered the free carriage ride. The offer of a new home, without the need to sacrifice himself and his children to slavery, was too generous to decline.

After clearing away his tears, bowing to Xu Feng, Midwife Lee resolved to give his best for this ger.

He served the bitter medicine reverently, a smile on his face and tears in his eyes, while Xu Feng wore a scowl on his face, concealing the pain in his heart.
