Chapter 362: Bitter Medicine [Bonus]

The revelation of Xiao An and Xiao Momo’s social circumstances reverberated through the room, leaving an emotional imprint on everyone present. As Xu Feng absorbed the impact of their words, he observed the various reactions from those around him.

Xu San, normally composed, found her hands shaking—a subtle yet telling sign of her own internal turmoil. Her past, shrouded in mystery, seemed to stir some deep seated emotions. Xu Feng couldn’t determine whether it was a personal connection to her own situation or a response to the children’s hardship.

In contrast, Xu Hu Zhe’s reaction was more obvious to Xu Feng. The teen, known for his strength and soundness, briefly clenched his fists tightly, a momentary lapse in his usual composure. Xu Feng recognized the telltale signs of someone who had faced abandonment and the harshness of life.

Xu Hu Zhe had lived his early life as a beggar. It was a history etched into him and how he now viewed the world.

Unable to stand the weight of the heavy atmosphere, Xu Feng decided to address the hurt echoing in the room. Firmly, he asserted, "Don’t call yourselves ’disgusting poor beggars’ again. Even if one must beg, it is to survive, and the desire to survive isn’t a disgusting thing."

His words cut through the sadness, a determined attempt to reshape their perspective on survival and resilience. Xu Feng aimed to instill a sense of dignity and self worth in Xiao An, Xiao Momo, and even those who bore the scars of their own challenging pasts.

He truly didn’t want them calling themselves ’disgusting poor beggars’

again. They weren’t less than because of their lack of wealth or the hand that life had dealt them.

Even if the village children had used terms they had likely heard from the adults in their family. It wasn’t right. Xu Feng didn’t want any of the four—Xiao An, Xiao Momo, Xu Hu Xhe, or Xu San—to feel inferior for any reason.

"Those children are the disgusting ones for saying such hurtful words. And their parents for allowing them to say such disgusting things." With that Xu Feng’s tone changed and the seriousness left his voice as he continued, "If I had a dog or maybe even a wolf, I would let you play with it, but a certain someone who promised me a wolf puppy still hasn’t gotten me my wolf puppy!"

Xuan Jian, who was trying to ’practice’ for his future children froze before slowly turning his head to Xu Feng who was now staring at him with an ironic puppy dog expression on his face.

Without giving him a chance at rebuttal, the two children looked around in confusion, not knowing who had promised the silver haired uncle a wolf puppy! Xuan Yang helped to dig their lover’s grave with Xu Feng.

"Xuan Jian promised a pair of wolf puppies and never delivered on his promise. How unfortunate for Xu Feng you must want to play with a puppy like little Lee An and little Lee Mo."

The two children now understood the story! The brown haired uncle that acted like a cushion for the pregnant silver haired ger had promised wolf puppies—wolves were supposed to be big, scary, and ferocious, but this uncle was quite big and tall, he could probably catch wolf puppies.

But instead of catching wolf puppies for his ger, he never followed his promise! The two children looked at Xuan Jian accusingly before withdrawing their eyes shyly.

Xu San’s lips began to twitch as she watched the double play from Xu Feng and Xuan Yang, as they pitted Xuan Jian. Her young master’s, no her masters were too much, too evil.

Xu Hu Zhe had turned away as he ’busied’ himself with draining the tub, but somehow his shoulders shook somewhat uncontrollably as the demon martial artist that enjoyed bullying him during their morning training sessions, was pitted.

He had no way to get back at both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang when they chose to be petty if he spent too much time with Xu Feng. Now as Xu Feng bullied Xuan Jian with Xuan Yang’s support, Xu Hu Zhe was enjoying the play a bit too much.

"I haven’t found a good enough wolf breed..." Xuan Jian started, but Xuan Yang wasn’t done pitting him.

"Yes, yes," He cut in, "You’ve gone up the mountains so many times this spring, it is already summer, and you still haven’t found a pair of cubs for our lover. It tis a good story, but if you do not believe our Feng Feng deserves an animal companion, you should simply say so. I would find a small puppy in your stead."

Xuan Jian immediately glared at the snake. This was too much, the two children and Xu San and Xu Hu Zhe were both listening! If it were just their three lovers it would be a different matter entirely.

Xu Feng could barely keep himself from laughing, he only wanted to change the mood in the room, and maybe get some puppies for Nanshan Estate, he wasn’t expecting Xuan Yang to modify his play so well!

The two men started to bicker as Xu Feng grinned and winked at the two children who seemed confused and slightly frightened.

"Don’t worry, the two masters over there will buy two dogs each for Xiao An and Xiao Momo to care for. You’ll need to help me care for the dogs so they grow big and strong and can protect our home. Deal?"

The two children were taken on a whole adventure. From the sadness of never playing with a dog, to talk of wolf cubs, and now this silver haired uncle had promised them puppies of their own!

Well technically, he’d promised the two other uncles would buy them puppies, but still, they would get to play with real puppies like Xiao Bai, and Xiao Hei in Han Village.

"Really?" Xiao An couldn’t hold herself back. She wanted it to be true more than anything else.

"Yes, of course," Xu Feng beamed. They planned on traveling in the future, it was a good idea to invest in dogs for the estate. If Xuan Jian found some wolf pups that agreed with him, they could also add them to the mix.

"Master Feng," Xu Si called from the main room, "Your concoction is ready!"
