The calming ambiance enveloped the bathroom, creating a serene atmosphere that eased the taut nerves of everyone present. Xu Feng even stopped taking quick peeks at the incense that followed them into the bath—Xu San’s meticulous doing.

Amidst the water play and innocent laughter, Xiao An’s usually mature demeanor gave way to pure joy as she grinned from ear to ear, splashing water with her hands. The children’s faces glowed with amazement, mirroring the enchantment of the moment.

But neither man seemed to mind as they took a comfortable spot beside the pregnant ger, Xuan Jian wiping away the lone tear before continuing his task of watching the children.

After a few heartbeats of silence from the adults with only the occasional giggle from the little children Xu Feng decided to break the atmosphere. It was too much for his heart. He knew they loved him, and he loved them.

Everything would be okay, he would take some seeds into labor with him and focus on birthing his eggs and healing himself. Doctor Lau had said he healed incredibly fast, he would change that to super incredibly fast!

"Have you two ever seen a dog before?"

Xu Feng’s question prompted an immediate reaction from the children, their heads turning towards him with curiosity. Of course, they had encountered dogs before!

Xiao Momo eagerly chimed in, describing the village dogs he had observed with animated enthusiasm. The brief diversion into the subject of dogs provided a lighthearted moment, offering a welcome respite from the weight of emotions in the room.

The dog wasn’t white like it’s name suggested, Xiao An explained that the dog had a small white spot, so it was named Xiao Bai "Little White." This dog was the prettiest of all the dogs in Han Village, and all the children wanted to play with it. It was the dog of the grandson of the village chief.

All the village chief’s grandson’s friends got to play with it. The two children were so excited as they spoke talking about how beautiful the dog was.

There weren’t many dogs in Han Village, Xu Feng didn’t know it was because many dog’s had lost their lives in the harsh winter. When it came to feeding their children or their guard dogs, most would choose to feed their children. It was the most wealthy in the village that could still afford to feed themselves and own a pet or guard dog.

In the midst of their happy narratives, Xu Feng posed a question about their interactions with Xiao Bai. "Did you like to play with Xiao Bai?"
