The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 307: Still Locked Up

Chapter 307: Still Locked Up

Within the beautiful, lush greenery of Blooming Courtyard, Xu Feng found purpose and ignited his determination. His focus appeared to be on the vibrant foliage and expending energy, the delicate petals of blossoming precious flowers, and the rich, earthy scents that permeated the air.

He could often be seen tending to the various plants and herbs that thrived under his care, their colors and textures a source of endless fascination.

But beneath the scene of a plant enthusiast lay a shrewd businessman in the making. While Xu Feng nurtured the greenery with meticulous care, his true concentration was on the wealth it could bring to the Nanshan Estate.

In their world where the family’s sole source of income came from the sale of herbs and medicinal plants to local medicine halls, he recognized the need to expand their horizons.

These sales of items like the ginseng found during Xu Feng’s last trip to the forests of the Nanshan Mountain Range, were few and far between. Xuan Jian wasn’t as skilled at finding profitable herbs and flowers.

Bai Mo’s presence in the capital presented a unique opportunity, one that Xu Feng intended to capitalize on. He had planned to join Bai Mo in Jinghua eventually, bringing with him their prized teas and a small amount of dried Dragon Chrysanthemum flowers to sell covertly at auction houses.

With Bai Mo’s trip to the capital, they could scope out who and how to sell their stock securely without endangering their identities and establishing a presence in the capital’s market.

Even if things weren’t going as planned, Xu Feng still wanted more gold in his hands and the ability to buy or trade other resources they might need when he was finally able to venture into the capital.

As for the Xuan family, Xu Feng had no intentions of sending them any offerings or compensation—rare Dragon Chrysanthemums or more common plants included—he no longer felt he owed them beyond his gratefulness at meeting Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian.

He would repay them for that particular kindness by taking care of his two lovers for as long as he lived. He didn’t need to compensate them for "not being able to bear Xuan Yang’s children," that obviously wasn’t true...

Xu Feng looked down at his belly with dead fish eyes. He had a very red mole, but also a very strong and rare inheritance that should have been the perfect birth control, but his belly told a different tale.

At the thought of Lady Xuan, and his past dreams of telling her Xuan Yang wasn’t able to have children, he rolled his eyes. Maybe he would still be able to go through with that specific play, but it would be some time.

The land of the Nanshan Estate was rightfully his, and he was determined to forge ahead without being burdened by ties to the Xuan family.

He would leave all things related to the Xuan family in Xuan Yang’s hands, anything else would be handled by Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian. All the things related to politics and social standing in this world were beyond his skillset, and he didn’t want to be bothered for the moment.

While he placed unwavering trust in his husbands, he couldn’t help but notice the increased frequency of private discussions between Xuan Jian and the six servants that had followed them from the main Xuan family.

Their hushed conversations seemed to intensify after the undeniable evidence of his round belly. Yet, Xu Feng chose to have faith in their intentions, believing that they were working towards the best interests of their family.

His days were filled with both the intricate care of his cherished plants and the meticulous planning of how to maximize their yields.

BUT, he still made sure to enlist Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian (and their men) to help him where possible.

In the quiet confines of the library, Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang engaged in a hushed discussion. Their voices were low, their expressions serious as they deliberated over matters that concerned the Nanshan Estate and their family’s future.

The books on the shelves bore silent witness to their conversation, their leather spines standing tall and regal. They weren’t the only witnesses.

Undiscovered by them, a silver haired figure peeped in through the partially open door, his head tilting slightly as strands of silver spilled over his shoulder.

Xu Feng couldn’t resist the temptation to eavesdrop on his husbands’ conversation. His curiosity was piqued, and they had been having so many secret conversations recently. It was worse than the early days of their marriage!

The six servants who had gathered nearby waiting for the conversation to end, watched the ger with a range of expressions on their faces, but they didn’t deter him in the slightest. They all knew better than that.

The six servants, were the servants who joined the Nanshan Estate from the main Xuan family, but directly followed and served Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang. They were the martial artists who trained with Xu Hu Zhe, and included Jie and Bo.

They quietly watched the shameless ger listen in on their masters’ conversation without a word. Instead, they were focused on not grinning too broadly, or laughing, giving Xu Feng away. That was the worst thing they could do in this situation.

Their grins and a few open mouthed smiles are completely ignored by the shameless ger as he squints his eyes as if that will enable him to hear the conversation behind the door better.

With narrowed eyes and an intense focus, he strained to catch fragments of their dialogue, his hand unconsciously drifting to rub his growing belly, the roundness of it a hint of the new lives growing within.

Occasionally, he would absently massage his aching back, a symptom he had ignored while immersed in his oh so very important mind occupying tasks. Unlike other expectant women or gers who might be bedridden with such a full belly, Xu Feng was brimming with vitality and strength, his health clearly wasn’t a problem.
