The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 308: I Spy

Chapter 308: I Spy

Snippets of their conversation drifted to him as he strained to hear, and he caught phrases like "No one can feel the children’s heartbeats," and "Looking for more trustworthy doctors." These words only fueled his interest.

’Exactly how many doctors were they planning to kidnap before they felt it was time drop this thinking? Were all the doctors in the area just scammers if they weren’t imperial doctors?’ Both men were taking things too far.

All that was left was to invite Doctor Ping to take his pulse, but they couldn’t be sure he wouldn’t tell anyone else about the 5 month pregnancy development in a two week period. Even for a cultivation world, this speed was taking things too far.

Still it brought a smile to Xu Feng’s face, the extent they were going to make sure the children were healthy. It was endearing in its own way.

Placing his ears against the door once more, Xu Feng focused on the two men inside and the partial sentences he could decipher.

The mention of "Main house wants to send servants to assess Feng Feng," drew an exaggerated eye roll from him. The audacity of anyone attempting to meddle in his affairs after the fiasco with Steward Wu!

He hadn’t been kind to the last batch of servants from the main house, or to their masters toward the end of their stay. There was no respect between them, and he didn’t want anyone Lady Xuan sent, setting foot in his home.

Strangers off the street were better.

Still, he remained focused on their conversation, catching phrases like "Can’t find an entrance" and "This Dong Ancestor doesn’t seem to want us to approach his space," "Only gers?"

It had been several days since their excursion to the Nanshan Forest, and Xu Feng himself had been eager to return to Dong Yang’s space with Xuan Jian, introducing both his husbands to the mysterious Dong Ancestor. However, his plans had been spoilt, and he couldn’t help but feel frustrated.

They wouldn’t let him back into the forest, even just to show them the way he and Xu Hu Zhe had used to enter the space. Whether it was because of his advanced pregnancy, or for fear of the specter was unknown.

Either way, they weren’t making any headway without him. Xuan Jian going with Hu Zhe led to the same results as when he went alone.

Leaving Hu Zhe to keep Xu Feng busy and from over doing it was the best choice for everyone. Without a partner in crime they could trust to watch over him, no one felt comfortable leaving Xu Feng to his own devices.

Xu Feng was a trouble magnet.

The trouble magnet eyes rolled even harder; an expression of disdain etched across his features. His back was aching too much to stay any longer and listen in on their conversation.

Let the two men deliberate as much as they wanted, he had things to do. It was time to put these muscle men to good use! For the family of course.

Turning his gaze to the six imposing martial artists who watched him with the wide grins and open mouthed smiles still frozen on their faces, he smiled sweetly.

The "oh so sweet smile" made the big strong men shiver, this was truly a domineering ger with nothing good planned for them.

Xu Feng’s days were a whirlwind of activity, his waddling figure could be seen everywhere within the Blooming Courtyard of the Nanshan Estate. His ceaseless movement left everyone around him in a constant state of panic.

Xu Feng seems to be the only one who doesn’t understand that he is 5 months pregnant as a ger, and should be expecting a baby, no, two babies in a month.

One moment, he could be found tending to the vibrant array of plants in the greenhouse, his hands gently coaxing the plants to flourish. The next, he might appear in the front of the courtyard, his presence commanding attention as he supervised various tasks.

From there, he would effortlessly transition to the back of the Blooming courtyard, his footsteps an endless waddling that seemed to defy the laws of physics. No one could keep up with his boundless energy as he traveled through and between the large and small reception rooms, supervising and helping with the sorting of plants and other items.

However, Xu Feng’s activity was not limited to the daylight hours alone. He would often be discovered napping in his bed, only for those who sought him out to find an empty room.

Xu San would have to wander through the courtyard when she returned from managing the servants throughout the rest of the estate. She would be searching high and low, only to stumble upon him in the library, engrossed in a study session, learning about the plants of Donghua. It was as if he had mastered the art of teleportation, appearing and disappearing at will.

His restless spirit knew no bounds. He could be found in the kitchen, experimenting with his new project for the day, or inspecting a new harvest. At times, he would be in the craft room, sewing alongside Xu Si, the two of them engaged in some needlework—there were two children on the way!

The cellar was another of his favored haunts, where he would tinker with various items and concoctions he’d already processed and set aside.

To the oblivious eyes of those around him, Xu Feng’s behavior might have seemed baffling. Little did they know that the cause of this boundless activity was the undeniable fact that he was expecting not one, but two babies in a mere month’s time. He needed to prepare for them. He would forget he also needed to rest, but he hadn’t forgot he was expecting.

Whenever he got a chance, he would enlist the six martial artists under his husbands’ hand to help him process the endless streams of fruits they had brought back from their search in the forest with Xuan Jian.
