The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL] -
Chapter 289: I Come Bearing Gifts
Chapter 289: I Come Bearing Gifts
Xu Hu Zhe Perspective:
’Why did Master Feng ask about that cursed day? Did he want me to beg his forgiveness for nearly seeing his wet body? Did he want to reprimand me for allowing him to help with chores? Was this another sign of pregnancy?’
Xu Hu Zhe was filled with questions and no definite answers. He prided himself on being quiet but attentive. He was becoming the best servant...no protector he could be for his benefactor, yet he had messed up so much in a single day!
With one failure there would be more.
As he trailed behind Xu Feng, not sure if he should own up to his mistakes, or if this was some sort of test of valor, or if this was a normal experience when one’s master became pregnant.
His usually controlled face was lost and confused. Not sure what was the next step to take. Still, he moved forward following his master, his benefactor, and the head of his household steadfastly.
At the very least they needed to get as far away from the large portion of the snake remains and get back to their camp.
In his focus on moving forward, he only followed Xu Feng. No matter what had happened, he trusted Xu Feng with his life. In this extremely dark and twisted place in his mind, he followed the silver haired ger with shame and confidence.
Followed him as they first began to head northward toward their camp, their spoils from the adventure on his back, taking up little weight like a speck of dust, all while his mind reeled with the real heavy debates and topic.
Even as they veered off path, the poor and gentle giant hadn’t realized. They steadily redirected their course from northward, to an eastward direction once again. They weren’t moving toward the place where he had slain the giant snake.
Instead, the two, one with a giant and weighty back basket, the other with a large but light cloth side bag—looking modern and strange—walked forward. The silver haired ger leading with a pep in his step, his spirits high, ignorant to the sad ’wild animal’ behind him—Xu Hu Zhe.
Xu Feng’s Perspective:
’Hehehehhehehehehe’
’Hehehhe’
’Hehehe’
’Mwahahaha’
The silver haired ger was having the time of his life as he went over certain scenarios in his head on repeat! He was so damn clever. So. Damn. Clever.
It was clear he was OP and the big boss in this storyline they were all writing together. Who could be as clever as him?
He was going to get his revenge!!!!!
The usually controlled face of the silver haired ger was twisted in a too excited smile, his teeth showing and shining brightly to the world. There was no young mistress here today!!!! Only an overly excited young ger, plotting...
Xu Feng, dressed in hunting/hiking attire reminiscent of a young aristocrat playing in the wilderness, cut a striking figure against the backdrop of the ever changing terrain they traversed.
His attire was a blend of traditional Donghua clothing and practical outdoor gear. He wore sturdy leather boots that reached his mid-calf, offering protection from the rugged terrain, and his pants were made of durable fabric, allowing for ease of movement.
Over his upper body, he sported a loose fitting tunic, made of breathable material that helped to keep him comfortable in the varying temperatures of the ancient forest.
As they ventured deeper into the wilderness, the scenery transformed around them. The semi barren area, where they had encountered the giant snake, gradually gave way to a lusher, more inviting forest. Trees with thick canopies cast dappled shadows on the forest floor, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming wildflowers.
Their temporary campsite provided a brief respite, nestled in a small clearing, where the lush greenery surrounded them, creating a natural sanctuary. The babbling of a nearby stream added to the tranquil ambiance.
However, the true marvel awaited them as they pressed deeper into the heart of the ancient forest, without even a lingering glance at the campsite.
Towering trees, their trunks wide and gnarled, loomed above them, their branches interlocking to create a verdant canopy that obscured the sky. The forest floor was a tapestry of mosses, ferns, and delicate wildflowers, all thriving in the dappled sunlight that filtered through the dense foliage.
In this untouched wilderness, it felt as though they had stepped into another world entirely. The towering trees reached such heights that their tops vanished into the canopy above, and the forest seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction.
It was a place where the ancient spirits of nature held sway, and the air was alive with the whispers of the wind and the songs of hidden birds.
Xu Feng’s attire, now slightly rumpled from their trek, seemed to blend seamlessly with the untamed surroundings, making him appear as though he were a part of the ancient forest itself.
In this part of the forest, the animals were abundant but kept their distance even with the scent of blood the two carried.
The forest seemed to give way to Xu Feng. Even as Xu Hu Zhe would occasionally trip over a root, or get swatted by a branch, Xu Feng was given the royal treatment by the flora.
As they moved forward, Xu Feng got his face back in order, calling on the calm serene mask he usually wore. He even called on a certain Sun Minghua’s demeanor to cloak the crazy laughter that was dying to bubble up from his belly.
Belly...pregnancy...what was that?
The thought of him being pregnant had long since flown away. Remember? He was too OP for that. Xu Zeng had said he couldn’t get pregnant, and he was going to stick with it.
To be quite honest, he was excited to have a baby, even if he had to lay an egg like a bird, and even sit on it—he didn’t need to do that, but...
He was so excited, but the reality of the world he now lived in had broken this hope for him. He could barely take care of his loved ones. The ginseng would add a little money to their coffers but they needed more than that. They also needed rare treasures that protagonists had to fight dragons and join cultivation sects to gain.
"Sigh."
