Chapter 229: Let’s Talk Later
Xu Feng couldn’t help but feel a twinge of frustration as he thought about how people treated Bai Mo based on circumstances beyond his control.
WAY beyond his control.
It was unfair how they judged him for a tragic love story—the one between his parents—that had nothing to do with his own choices or actions. Despite the great potential they recognized in Bai Mo, his status as an orphan would likely overshadow everything else.
This narrow minded behavior only reinforced Xu Feng’s determination to keep Bai Mo’s exceptional talents hidden from those who would underestimate him. They didn’t deserve him or his kind heart.
Xu Feng admired his fellow orphaned fox and couldn’t help but feel pride in his talents.
He hoped no one of their generation was as intelligent or witty as Bai Mo in the Bai and Deng families.
If with a ’great potential’ to their knowledge, they would still slight Momo because he was an orphan. It was because of this closed minded behavior they shouldn’t ever get the chance to know just how talented Momo truly was.
He wasn’t just a great talent, he had exceptional talent.
Either way, it was the Bai and Deng family’s loss. Both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang had never looked down on Bai Mo despite his "history" and "bad energy." He had fallen into a relationship with two men he respected greatly.
As his thoughts turned to Xu Hu Zhe, Xu Feng began to worry if he had inadvertently pushed the young man too far with his nurturing. He wondered if he had overfed the "flower" that was Xu Hu Zhe.
His two partners who "greatly respected," in the past...seemed to pick up on his concerns, and there was a hint of vinegar in the air, though only a slight smell.
Just a bit.
"Stop worrying about that overgrown weed," Xuan Jian said nonchalantly as Xuan Yang laughed, "Gers are more targeted than men...for breeding purposes, your Xu Hu Zhe will be fine under our protection."
"The ’weed’ has shown martial arts talent with Yang. He is likely of the wolf bloodline. The wolf clans have little pull in Donghua, they wouldn’t dare to cross the Xuan family for him."
"What is more important, is that you understand why the mountains aren’t safe and the significance of your bloodline, and why my family and other families will covet your skills as well as Bai Mo’s.
You’re correct. We shouldn’t keep you in the dark. The more you know the better off we’ll all be."
The look in Xuan Yang’s eyes brightened something in Xu Feng. Maybe it was the trust or the affection? Whatever it was made Xu Feng finally feel seen. Or maybe it was heard?
The warmth in Xuan Yang’s gaze was like a beacon, guiding Xu Feng through the labyrinth of his own insecurities. It was a moment of profound connection, where unspoken words bridged the gap between them, and the bonds of trust and affection deepened.
Xuan Jian once again looked out the carriage, while his two intelligent lovers were having their moment, he was focused.
Meanwhile, Xuan Jian continued to keep watch outside the carriage, his focus on their surroundings. The attention they had garnered from onlookers in the streets of Yilin was not to be ignored. They couldn’t linger here indefinitely; it was time to make a decision.
They were in the general area around the government office of Yilin Town. The intention was to set Xu Hu Zhe, Xu Si, and Xu San, as his official inheritors.
From slaves to family to inheritors. This was a big leap and wasn’t something normally done. Because the three formerly had a slave status, it would take a year for them to officially become inheritors of the ’Xu Estate’ naturally.
However, with Xu Feng’s involvement and the presence of all four parties, they had the opportunity to expedite the process.
Xuan Jian didn’t completely agree with this action, but their conversation today has once again refreshed his understanding of his young lover. Xu Feng was a beauty, a great cook, a pervert, a quirky person, so many things, but he wasn’t stupid.
Xu Feng’s judgments could be trusted. Xuan Jian knew Xu Hu Zhe’s devotion for his master and knew his ’family,’ he spent more time with the boy than Xu Feng did, and he understood his character and allegiance to Xu Feng.
It wasn’t a bad decision, only an uncommon one.
"We should either return to the estate, or.."
Before Xuan Jian could finish his suggestion, Xu Feng was brought back to life in an instant. He came to town for a reason!
Xu Feng didn’t hesitate to cut in, he knew both Xuan Jain and Xuan Yang didn’t approve of his decision to allow Xu Hu Zhe and the girls to become his legal inheritors. But that was okay, they could agree to disagree, but he still needed to do this.
"We need to head to the stall and pick up Xu Si and Xu San. We can head home after our business and have a long talk."
Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang shared a knowing look. They wouldn’t be able to talk Xu Feng out of this, there was no reason to even try.
"Xu Hu Zhe," Xuan Jian called out louder to ensure the other teen heard him from outside the carriage, "You heard what your master said."
"Yes." Hu Zhe’s crisp voice called back, quickly moving into action.
With their bloodline purity and nurturing from Xu Feng, it was clear, he had heard enough of their conversation after the girls had disembarked. They had purposefully spoken at a level he could hear.
Even with all this new knowledge, if Xu Hu Zhe was affected, he didn’t let on.
The people of the Nanshan estate were making plans for a brighter future, and laying out deep secrets buried about their lineages, while others were making plans for trouble.
In a certain prestigious tea house across the street from their carriage, a ger sat with a disfigured face, as he watched the seemingly familiar carriage pass by for the third time.
