Chapter 195: Wild Boar! Pt.1
Xu Feng’s heart thundered in his chest as he finally locked eyes with Bai Mo. Relief washed over him at the sight of his friend being safe, but something else caught his attention and roused an unfamiliar sensation within him. Bai Mo, disheveled and visibly shaken, clutched the back basket protectively against his chest.
The sight struck Xu Feng, a wave of confusion and frustration surging through him. Bai Mo’s state, the urgency in his movements, and the way he guarded the basket startled Xu Feng. He felt a pang of hurt and bewilderment as his mind whirred with questions.
Why was Bai Mo so concerned about the basket in this chaos? Was it about the food, Xu Feng’s belongings, or something else entirely?
It wasn’t anger that consumed Xu Feng but a profound sense of confusion and disbelief.
No, maybe it was anger...
Xu Feng wanted to throw down the knife in his hand, charge over and spank the ger in front of him. Spank him until he cried mercy, and understood that his safety was the most important.
He needed to straighten his priorities.
His friend’s priorities seemed skewed in that moment, and it left Xu Feng perplexed. The sight of Bai Mo, with ruffled clothes and a disheveled appearance even as a young master, was so foreign compared to the usual composed and put together appearance.
For a fleeting moment, Xu Feng was tempted to toss away the knife and rush over to Bai Mo, to shake him out of this mindset. Maybe that would be more rational than the spanking scene.
Either way, he needed to understand what was going on in his friend’s mind. The temptation was strong, but his worry for his friend’s safety overrode any frustration or confusion.
Instead of acting on impulse, Xu Feng took a deep breath, trying to make sense of the situation before making any move. He clenched the knife tighter in his hand, his knuckles turning white, but he remained rooted in place, his mind whirling with concern for his best friend.
Yes, Bai Mo was definitely his best friend. He wouldn’t be compelled to spank someone he didn’t care about.
The tunnel vision finally receded, and the danger became apparent.
Bai Mo was perched on a tree stump, his expression a mix of annoyance and mild panic, and right in front of him was a rather grumpy looking wild boar.
Xu Feng who had started moving again skidded to a halt, breathing heavily, trying to make sense of the situation. The boar was rather massive, its fur a dark hue that was clearly blue, another one of the strange creatures in this world. With sharp tusks protruding from its snout that were painted a pink color. It seemed agitated, grunting loudly and pawing the ground.
"What happened?" Xu Feng managed to gasp out, his voice still laced with concern.
"It’s this fella," Bai Mo sighed, his tone exasperated yet tinged with a hint of joy that Xu Feng had made it back alright. "I think we stumbled on its territory and it doesn’t seem too happy about it."
The wild boar’s grunting intensified as though to emphasize Bai Mo’s words. It appeared defensive, guarding its territory from what it perceived as intruders.
More like an intruder. It was clearly ignoring Xu Feng.
Xu Feng eyed the boar cautiously, inching forward but ready to leap back at any sudden movement from the creature. "We should retreat slowly and not provoke it further," he suggested, trying to keep his voice calm despite the lingering tension.
Bai Mo nodded in agreement, keeping a wary eye on the agitated boar.
Bai Mo and Xu Feng found themselves confronted by a wild boar of extraordinary size and uncanny appearance. This imposing creature had blue black fur with hues that rivaled the vibrant blue undertone of Xu Hu Zhe’s hair. Its tusks were a striking shade of pink, standing out starkly against its fur.
Despite their attempts to retreat, the boar seemed fixated on Bai Mo, who had climbed onto a large tree stump for safety. The stump was so massive that it was almost as wide as the boar itself, preventing the creature from knocking it over forcefully.
Xu Feng urged caution as the wild boar continued to ram itself against the stump, clearly targeting Bai Mo. They both understood the urgency to leave the situation, yet Bai Mo remained stuck on the stump, unable to find a safe way down without provoking the boar further.
Xu Feng threw caution to the wind and the boar rammed so hard against the stump, that Bai Mo almost toppled over. He rushed forward seeing red and made a shot with his kitchen knife.
The lunge was heroic and packed with power, but even as the knife poked at the boar’s tough skin, nothing happened. Nothing at all.
The boar continued to ignore Xu Feng and focus on it’s prize, the nice juicy Momo, as it continued to grunt loudly into the air.
Xu Feng lunged forward boldly two more times, using gravity and his body weight to throw against the blade, hoping to pierce and frighten the boar, but it just wasn’t into the silver haired ger.
Xu Feng stood back and sighed as sweat dripped down his forehead profusely. The neighing of the horses and the grunting of the boar gave him a splitting headache.
He had already asked Bai Mo to throw down the back basket as a distraction, twice, but the other ger was proving to be just as stubborn as him, and the self defense item, the kitchen knife was just as useless as Xu Feng himself.
"Momo..." he began once again, pleading in his voice. How else were they going to get out of this situation?
But Bai Mo answered without letting him begin. "No!" He was determined to keep the back basket.
Xu Feng looked away from the stubborn fox who was drenched in cold sweat, but still had the gull to throw attitude at him. Xu Feng would need to move to his newly formulated plan.
"Get ready to run," he began, and at this Bai Mo finally looked the taller ger in the eyes, "When he chases me, run toward the horses and head for the estate."
"N..." Bai Mo’s eyes were wide and he wanted to deny it, but Xu Feng could be stubborn too, and he wasn’t hearing it.
"YES! The thing clearly doesn’t want me. I’ll distract it until you get away," He looked Bai Mo in the eyes indicating that he wasn’t going to throw his life away, at least not today. "If you don’t run, this trick might not work twice."
