Chapter 168: Doctor Ping: Against All Odds

Chapter 168: Doctor Ping: Against All Odds

The amiable older man transformed from a refined and respectable doctor, to a curious young man in a matter of seconds. The transformation was surprising even Xu Feng who was a master of transformation himself.

Years of wear and tear seemed to dissipate from the man’s face. And with that youth came youthful questions!

"What about your needs? Has your libido increased?" Xu Feng paused as if he heard something wrong, was his brain malfunctioning? It seemed like he might need to return his brain; it was always malfunctioning since he touched down in Donghua.

It always seemed to misfire at the most unexpected times, leaving Xu Feng feeling like he was navigating a maze with a faulty map.

The doctor’s sudden shift in demeanor caught Xu Feng off guard. He had expected polite conversation and maybe some professional analysis, but not this.

"Master Feng, forgive my intrusion, but you seem more lively than one might expect given the circumstances," Doctor Ping commented with an earnest curiosity that bordered on impolite.

Xu Feng blinked, his brain attempting to process the doctor’s words. It felt like the gears in his head had momentarily jammed, leaving him momentarily speechless.

"More lively? Circumstances?" Xu Feng mused aloud.

After a moment, Xu Feng’s face flushed, but he managed to keep a straight face. He was the young mistress/Master Feng right now. He knew he shouldn’t look, but he still glanced over to the side, taking in the two other men in the room.

The closer face was openly curious about the answer, his iceberg façade melting. Xuan Yang on the other hand still had an aloof look in his eyes, but the raised eyebrow and slightly tight grip on the handle of his chair were unignorable red flags for the ger.

Both men were curious.

Xu Feng looked away from the two faces, the redness in his ears still showing through. He couldn’t control his ears or his mouth apparently. "Perverts," he whispered before coughing came from behind him, outside of his field of vision.

The color rising in Xu Feng’s ears only intensified as Doctor Ping maintained his professional composure. It was a challenge for the elderly doctor to suppress his amusement, evident by the barely perceptible twitch at the corner of his lips.

Xu Feng hesitated, caught between embarrassment and the desire for guidance. After all, Doctor Ping had years of experience; perhaps he could shed light on Xu Feng’s situation.

"It’s been different...it’s been stronger," He minced words before deciding to tell the whole truth. What if Doctor Ping could give him some more insight to all the things he was feeling?

His ears burned crimson, a telltale sign of his discomfort. But the honesty he felt he needed to offer outweighed his embarrassment. He trusted Doctor Ping’s expertise, even if sharing such personal details felt like navigating uncharted waters.

"At first, before my first night it was so strong, I could barely control myself or my thoughts," Xu Feng began, looking up at the doctor, measuring his responses, "after that it was stronger, but after my visit to you..."

Doctor Ping’s keen gaze focused intently on Xu Feng, the doctor’s eyes conveying both understanding and a glint of curiosity. It was as if the doctor was piecing together a puzzle from Xu Feng’s words, searching for a solution to a mystery he had yet to fully comprehend.

Xu Feng glanced towards Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian, seeking affirmation that Doctor Ping was indeed among the doctors they had encountered during their visit to Yilin town in January.

The scholar nodded, confirming Xu Feng’s hunch.

Feeling the heat of embarrassment creeping further up his cheeks, Xu Feng persevered, hoping for understanding and maybe even a shred of guidance from the experienced physician. His ability to push past his shame had become almost routine in recent times.

"We reduced the frequency." His face was flushed red now, but Xu Feng continued trying to read the older man. "I thought I wouldn’t be able to stand it. But every two weeks, has been manageable. My thoughts aren’t as clouded with my, uhm, my urges."

Xu Feng couldn’t help but wonder if the doctor had encountered similar cases in his long experience. Doctor Ping’s subtle nod was a reassurance, a subtle sign of affirmation that spoke volumes.

"This isn’t too strange." Doctor Ping answered the young ger in front of him earnestly. The boy had clearly not received too much education before his marriage. He did glance over Xuan Jian for a moment though, wasn’t it inappropriate for the other man to stay? The young master was privy to his young mistress’ consult, but the other man shouldn’t listen in on these things.

Not wanting to poke a hornet’s nest, Doctor Ping retrieved his eyes from the two men surnamed Xuan. Both men were present while Xu Feng was treated last winter as well. Whatever was going on in the Xuan family wasn’t his concern.

He redirected his attention away from the Xuan family matters, understanding the sensitive nature of their situation. The dynamics within powerful families often entangled matters of bloodline and prophecy, overshadowing the individual concerns of a single ger.

The need for immortal bloodline babies was most large families’ concerns with the prophecy coming. Everyone was most concerned about power.

In front of him stood Xu Feng, a young man with his own set of complexities and worries. The doctor felt a sense of responsibility to impart knowledge and guidance, aware that Xu Feng might soon be pulled into circumstances far beyond his control.

"The young master Xuan possesses a strong bloodline, much like your own," Doctor Ping began, his tone gentle yet matter of fact. He noticed the fiery red mole and the distinctive display of immortal bloodline that adorned Xu Feng’s crown, the unabashed silver hair.

"The initial reaction of your body to his could be the result of your bloodlines’ high compatibility," the doctor explained, trying to simplify the intricate dynamics.

"Typically, such reactions occur between bloodlines that share certain affinities. It is unusual for this phenomenon to occur between bloodlines of different natures (fox and snake instead of snake and snake or fox and fox), but fate seems to have intertwined yours and the young master Xuan’s bloodlines against all odds."
