Chapter 113: A Real Young Miss Pt. 2
The glare from the obviously annoyed catty young mistress of a ger persisted as Xu Feng discreetly observed him. This ger was a delicate and pampered individual, much like a porcelain doll.
His petite frame and pristine appearance made him stand out, and it was clear that he was the focus of the group’s attention. Before entering the bookstore, there had been enthusiastic chatter and praise directed toward him, celebrating his presence as the sole ger in their mixed gender group.
However, as soon as their group crossed paths with Xu Feng and his eye-catching silver hair, the conversation underwent a noticeable shift. What had initially been animated admiration and praise now turned into hushed discussions, their voices dropping to secretive tones.
The ger’s visage transformed from one of haughty confidence to one filled with disdain and unease.
Nearby, there was a boy who bore a resemblance to the ger, likely a close relative, which perhaps helped the mixed gender group maintain an appearance of acceptability in the eyes of the public, even with an unmarried ger in their midst.
But even this boy couldn’t help but sneak controlled glances toward Xu Feng, adding to the ger’s irritation.
As the young mistress of a ger continued to direct venomous glares at him from afar, Xu Feng felt a growing headache. He hadn’t intended to become the center of attention, and the snide looks were pushing his patience to its limits.
Despite his typically good natured demeanor, he was beyond irritated and even angry at this point. Hangry if you will.
With a sudden shift, Xu Feng transformed from his more approachable and composed appearance to one of equal disdain directed at the young mistress. He was the current young mistress of the Xuan family, and he refused to endure such disrespect.
His regal and icy demeanor took hold as he silently declared that he would not tolerate being treated with contempt.
Xu Feng’s piercing gaze narrowed further, and the frigid aura around him intensified. He couldn’t detect the presence of an immortal bloodline in the group, which meant he needed to keep his actions in check.
He knew the ger was clearly in the wrong, not him, but he wouldn’t escalate the situation beyond a simple glare. All he wanted was to teach their group a little respect.
However, one of the boys in the group blurted out a vulgar exclamation, leaving Xu Feng somewhat taken aback.
"Fuck!" Vulgar language like that was rare during his time in this new world. Even the servants typically maintained a more refined demeanor when they believed they were unobserved. This group, on the other hand, was displaying behavior more similar to lions and tigers in Yilin, openly using such coarse language.
"Really a minx with eyes like that," the boy continued. He appeared to be the ringleader, boasting the highest status in the group and the most well-dressed. His confident and unabashed leering at Xu Feng showed his audacity.
He seemed to perceive Xu Feng’s open glare as an invitation or perhaps even a turn-on.
To him, Xu Feng was a poor ger daring to challenge him in public.
Even with an immortal bloodline, Xu Feng wasn’t from a prominent family in Yilin, and to most people’s knowledge, the power of immortal bloodlines was rapidly waning in the kingdom.
They no longer commanded the same respect they once did, especially in a small town like Yilin.
For this boy, it was as though this confrontation was the best possible outcome, as if he were eagerly anticipating an opportunity to approach Xu Feng openly. As the situation unfolded, the store attendant pretended to look away, as if the altercation had nothing to do with him.
While he would undoubtedly earn a generous commission from Xu Feng, it was clear that other boy was a well-known figure in the town, and intervening in Xu Feng’s favor wasn’t worth risking the Buddha’s anger.
"Kang Han," the boy that looked like the ger and seemed to be the voice of reason, tried to restrain the cocky young master as the other members of the group decided not to help. And, to instead watch a good show.
"Brother Ming, don’t get in Brother Kang’s way," the ger added in a pretentious way, "That vixen has been provoking little MingHua since we entered the Central Bookstore. Brother Kang is only defending this one’s honor."
"MingHua!" the boy named Brother Ming retorted with exasperation. He seemed annoyed by his relative’s dramatic cries, but not as annoyed as the wide-eyed Xu Feng, who was now realizing the true audacity of their group.
Not only did MingHua speak in the third person, but they were also bold enough to fabricate bold faced lies, with the patrons in the bookstore looking away as if they were prepared to let anything happen.
While Xu Feng was fairly certain he could handle himself to a certain extent, he suddenly felt grateful for Erlang’s presence. The other group outnumbered them, and they had their own servants in tow as well. It was bound to be an unfair fight.
As the confrontation escalated, Erlang steadily moved closer to Xu Feng, adopting a protective stance. He appeared ready to shield Xu Feng from the approaching Brother Kang. However, before Kang Han could get too close, a calm yet clearly upset voice intervened.
"Kang Han," the voice rang out with precision, halting the young master in his tracks. He appeared startled by the voice and glanced at the speaker with wide-eyed shock, quickly concealing his reaction. Unfortunately, Xu Feng had already seen the momentary surprise.
"What are you trying to do with a married ger in public?" the voice continued, firmly addressing the situation. The group accompanying the delicate ger, MingHua, appeared equally shocked by this unexpected turn of events, their expressions resembling someone who had seen a ghost and swallowed a fly simultaneously.
They apparently hadn’t noticed the boy’s presence during their earlier rowdy entrance. Xu Feng had seen him, and the boy had been in the bookstore the entire time of the incident.
"You jilted ger, dare to call out my name in public!" Kang Han sneered, his teeth gritted, as he lashed out at the newcomer. This newcomer was the only person besides Erlang who appeared to be on Xu Feng’s side, the only one displaying any sense of conscience.
"You bringer of bad luck!" one of Kang Han’s entourage echoed, further escalating the tension in the bookstore.
