Chapter 105: Truck-Kun’s Ancestor
Chapter 105: Truck-Kun’s Ancestor
Yilin town, an ancient and backward haven nestled within the kingdom of Donghua on the Dongzhou continent, hummed with life on a crisp winter’s day.
Its charming streets, despite their old-fashioned simplicity, hinted at a culture that had been thriving for generations. The houses, constructed from sturdy clay and brick and adorned with intricate carvings, exuded an aura of timelessness.
Yilin was a witness to the ancient customs and traditions of a world that had finally evolved rapidly over centuries, after being left behind for an unknown amount of time.
As Xu Feng had strolled through the streets, he’d marveled at the bustling life around him. It was incredible to think about how far this small town had come.
Just a thousand years ago, he mused, the people of Dongzhou might have still been wearing grass skirts and dwelling in caves. The arrival of demon beasts, including the dragon, snake, fox, turtle, and wolf, had brought both challenges and opportunities.
These creatures, while not all benevolent, had left their mark on the land, shaping the culture and history of Dongzhou.
On this particular winter’s day, the town seemed to have awakened from its timeless slumber. The streets were filled with people, bundled up in warm thick robes, fur coats, cotton coats, many layers, and more to ward off the chill.
Among the crowd, the women and gers who seemed to have taken extra care with their appearances now obviously dominated a certain section of the town’s streets. On a man hunt.
For Xu Feng, this life was a mystery.
Rather than experiencing a flash of his past in a near-death experience, he found himself marveling at the quaint and dinky charm of Yilin town.
There was something undeniably appealing about the town’s character and the steady flow of life. This rebirth had introduced him to a world that was both strange and strangely suited to his nature—it seemed to suit him well enough.
It even seemed like he’d returned...not home, but somewhere familiar.
In the midst of this contemplation, Xu Feng couldn’t help but reflect on his past life that didn’t flash before his eyes, where he’d met a premature end.
He couldn’t resist a playful thought directed at a certain mysterious force that had seemingly granted him a second chance. With an inner sense of glee, he silently addressed "Carriage-kun" as an affectionate nod to an earlier part of his existence.
’Sorry Truck-kun... I mean Carriage-kun, I already died once!’
Still, it was an honor to meet Truck-kun’s ancestor in the flesh. The thought made the ger giggle, completely out of touch with reality.
’Carriage-kun, you need to teach Truck-kun better manners, many stories wouldn’t exist without it, but Truck-kun is a little too aggressive!’
Xu Feng’s silent, almost inaudible laughter wouldn’t subside, it only seemed to grow stronger as his body shook slightly, and the arms around his body tightened, pulling him deeper into their warm embrace.
His heart swelled with a tad too much happiness, a sensation that intensified when he felt the strong and secure embrace of the man beside him.
With the large, sturdy arms enveloping him, Xu Feng basked in the feeling of safety and attraction. The warmth of the moment seemed to mirror the charm of Yilin town itself, and in this world of ancient traditions and hidden mysteries, he was on an adventure like no other.
In the midst of the bustling crowd, the man who held Xu Feng in a sturdy embrace remained habitually silent. For a moment, Xu Feng almost wondered if he’d suddenly gone deaf.
The town was alive with activity, voices carrying through the air, and the potential suitors for his husbands continued to linger nearby, engaged in animated conversations with their friends.
While the situation had posed some danger, it was hardly life-threatening. The man’s reaction was nothing more than an overreaction. He was really acting like an overbearing husband.
Maybe he would be an overbearing CEO type in the modern era.
Xu Feng had initially blushed at his own response to the man. He’d caught himself inhaling deeply, savoring the scent of the man who held him.
It was a masculine and incredibly attractive aroma, with a subtle hint of mint that only now seemed to grace his senses. It was as if he’d never noticed that minty undertone until this very moment.
And this wasn’t nearly as close as their bodies had been on their wedding night.
At that, Xu Feng’s face flushed once again, until...
The thoughts of "Truck-Kun" or "Carriage-Kun" crossed his mind again. He couldn’t help but smile, though his amusement was half-tinged with a hint of self-consciousness.
He continued to take in deep breaths, feeling utterly unashamed despite his blush. He had survived two or three almost deaths at this point, what was shame?
His yearning for the warmth and safety of this embrace was undeniable. He wouldn’t voice it, but he wouldn’t deny it either.
After a moment, the man, Xuan Yang, broke the silence with a question, a trace of joy in his voice. "Satisfied?" he asked.
Xu Feng had the urge to pull away from the smug young master with a chilly demeanor and an exterior that was both sunny yet aloof. The scholar was undoubtedly annoying, yet not quite.
The bookish looking snake held a certain gap moe, a combination of contrasting traits. It was both heartwarming and tempting in its own unique way, offering a warm embrace that carried a captivating, earthy scent.
The musk in the air was a subtle distraction, and Xu Feng couldn’t resist laying a bit of blame on it, even though he couldn’t see anyone’s face to feel any shame.
No one couldn see his face either, so he wouldn’t feel any shame. He refused to feel any shame.
Refusing to accept any of the shame bombarding him, Xu Feng chose to stay nestled in the cozy embrace, lost in time and immersed in the man’s scent. The stress and tension that had built up throughout the day, being observed by the crowds, seemed to melt away.
Finally, he found the words to respond sluggishly, "Smells right."
"Hmm," rumbled from Xuan Yang’s chest, resonating in Xu Feng’s ears as it traveled down his spine just as sluggishly. In this moment, he felt like he could stay like this forever. He would stay like this forever; the snake had no say in the matter.
He didn’t expect to be anyone’s wife in the last life, this life, or any other life for that matter. Yet here he was, a wife. And wife was always right.
