Chapter 803: Chapter 803: Discuss heroes over wine, fight for a seat?

"Why me?"

Carson Flores’s heart raced with urgency. His senior sister’s orders were not to be disobeyed, but he had resolved to keep a low profile once there. Lainey Dragon, a red-hot figure of attention, was walking the same path as him; how could he stay under the radar now?

Killian Jaramillo sized up Lainey Dragon, curiously turning to watch how Carson would handle the situation.

Carson said with an awkward chuckle, "Miss Dragon, why don’t you go ahead? My Sword Flight is slow and I might delay you."

Lainey Dragon smiled charmingly, "People don’t run off; it’s fine to go slowly, there’s no rush... Is this fairy-like beauty your wife?"

Carson was mortified.

Don’t talk nonsense, please, it’s embarrassing!

"Miss Dragon is mistaken, my wife is not in Misrds State."

Killian Jaramillo had been quietly watching from the side as a spectator but was suddenly the center of attention. Her cheeks flushed red as she quickly gave a fist-and-palm salute and introduced herself, "Thousand Swords Sect’s Killian Jaramillo, pleased to meet Miss Dragon."

Lainey Dragon laughed, "Oh, is that so? Nice to meet you, Miss Killian. Let’s go together."

Carson was helpless and could only grit his teeth and fly ahead.

Lainey Dragon was seductively charming, Killian Jaramillo ethereal, and with the two of them flanking him on either side, Carson, caught in the middle, suddenly became the center of attention.

As a water Spiritual Body and a celebrity in Misrds State, Lainey Dragon, beautiful as she was, had always been the focal point of everyone’s gaze. Now, the attention on Carson increased suddenly.

"Who is that young man?"

"He’s using Sword Flight but doesn’t seem very strong. How does Lainey Dragon know him?"

"I recognize him. Yesterday in the sect hall, everyone was enchanted by Lainey Dragon’s Sky Demon Dance, except for him. He stayed clear-headed, maybe that’s why she looks at him differently."

"He could withstand Lainey Dragon’s Sky Demon Dance?"

"Lucky man, accompanied by two beauties. I’m so jealous!"

Carson felt countless gazes on him and inwardly groaned, yet since he was representing Nutwood Mountain, he couldn’t show any weakness like he did yesterday when he went out drinking.

Lainey Dragon seemed used to the attention, leisurely flying beside Carson, casually asking, "Are you a disciple of the Thousand Swords Sect?"

Carson introduced himself earnestly, "Direct Disciple of the Nutwood Mountain Cave Master, Carson Flores."

Lainey Dragon paused for a moment, her eyes showing clear surprise: "Master Campbell’s Direct Disciple?"

Carson nodded, "Yes, I’ve recently joined the sect, and this outing is to gain some experience in the world."

Lainey Dragon looked at Carson with a newfound respect and chuckled lightly, "Master Campbell is renowned for his discerning eye. His three disciples each stun onlookers. You must have an extraordinary talent to have been taken as his disciple, no wonder you could resist my Sky Demon Dance..."

Carson didn’t elaborate further and simply smiled, "You flatter me, Miss Dragon. My talents are quite ordinary, nowhere near as remarkable as your natural Spiritual Body."

As the three conversed, they arrived at the desolate mountaintop to see a massive White Jade Platform with a towering Aura Barrier concealing it, while the steps leading up to the platform were exposed.

Eighteen steps.

On the White Jade Platform, there were twenty chairs and tea tables, each table adorned with a tea set. Behind the chairs were many cushions, but in front of the cushions there were neither tea tables nor tea sets.

Clearly, only those with chairs were deemed worthy of drinking tea; others who managed to reach the platform could only sit on the cushions and watch.

Kash Lam, whose body seemed to be ablaze, laughed out loud, "Bryant James, what’s the meaning of this? Do we have to fight battles just to drink tea? Are you worried that you don’t have enough Spirit Stones to treat us?"

Quite a straightforward speaker!

Carson instantly took a liking to this fiery brother.

Kash Lam had not misused his power to cause disorder during the chaos of the previous day, preferring to flee rather than indiscriminately kill, indicating that despite his roughness, he had a good heart.

Bryant James smiled slightly, "There are too many people, and the noise lessens the charm of drinking tea, which is why I’ve set up a small threshold. Of course, none of you would find it a problem, right?"

Kenzo Conley, the Saint Heir, laughed heartily, "That’s very good, all the peace and quiet."

He strode forward, stepped onto the staircase, and walked up the eighteen steps effortlessly to take a seat at the foremost table on the White Jade Platform.

"Where’s the tea? If the leaves are subpar, I’ll flip the table."

Bryant James took out a can of tea leaves and smiled, "This is Lotus Leaf Tea made specially from the lotus leaves of the lotus pond in Mount Kahdas. Please, everyone, try it."

Kenzo Conley’s eyes sparkled, "Indeed, good tea, worth a taste. It wasn’t a wasted trip."

Kash Lam ascended the steps in large strides, seated himself on the platform without hesitation, and settled into a chair.

Carson watched the twenty sets of tables and chairs on the platform and looked back at the crowd flocking towards the White Jade steps, smirking internally.

By staging this, Bryant James was aiming to rank the young talents of Misrds State, positioning himself clearly as the foremost among the youth elite.

To debate who is the hero while wine brews?

Quite the strategist!
