Chapter 62: My Shell

Harley might be an omega but she was still a shifter and could hear what the others were saying about her even though they were whispering among themselves. At first, she just wanted to ignore them but then she couldn’t do it anymore.

The maids all exchanged a glance and then they stared at Harley blankly before one of them stepped forward and said, " So what? Do you think that we are scared of you? If we want then we will say it right on your face! Do you think that we have no idea what you are doing huh? Because of you, even our names have been slung with mud. Now all around the palace, everyone says that we—— the laundry maids are easy, and it’s all because of you!"

" Exactly!" said the blonde maid as she glared at Harley. " If you don’t have the shame to stop then why are you getting upset? It’s not like we saying anything wrong? Everything that we said was the truth, all right? It’s not like we are accusing you of something that you didn’t do!"

" You..." Harley was so mad that she wanted to fight them but she knew that even though these women were nothing but extras in the book but they were very much alive and stronger than her, who was just a small canary. Even the weakest among the maids was a snake, if she tried to attack them then they will surely retaliate against her, she wasn’t prepared for it.

So, even though she was angry, she simply harrumphed and closed the door with a loud bang ignoring the loud giggles that were coming from outside. She breathed heavily and then threw the vase next to her and malevolently whispered, " Just wait, all four of the consorts are in love with me, I just need a little more love points and then they will be hooked around my little finger, just wait! Once that happens, I will take care of you and that Dragon Queen together!" She flicked her silver hair and viciously muttered, " After all, I am the female lead of this story."

Though Harley was really confident about her victory against Bree at the same time she was also very worried.

According to the book, by now the Queen should have been dead and there shouldn’t have been any case of her sleeping together with Ahmar or any other consorts. So, why was this happening now?

Harley has long accepted her role as the one existence around which this entire world existed and that wasn’t all, she also started to view the Dragon palace, the golden throne on which Bree sat as well as the consorts as hers. Since she was the main existence of this world then naturally all the good things belonged to her, right? Then why was it that nothing was going according to her way?

Light of the Empire? Heh, there was only one light of the Empire and that was her! Her very existence was the reason why this world existed in the first place!

But if so, why wasn’t Bree dead?

Bree should have died and these things —- everything should have gotten under her clutches and she should have lived happily ever after all this life was a concession that God gave to her, right? He took her life unfairly that was why he gave her this chance!

She was certain that everything in this world was all about her but still a sense of uneasiness couldn’t help but rise as she realised that Bree was still alive though tonight was supposed to be the night of her death! Tonight would have been her night!

Her night of ascending the throne! Then why was she still here? In this run-down maid quarters and why was that woman in the palace of her man? That’s right her man.

This world existed because of her then everything in this world was hers, including the man that Bree was sleeping with, so how can she not be upset? That man was supposed to be hers, so who was Bree to lay next to him and touch him as she pleases?

" System, why is she not dead yet?" asked Harley for the thousandth time. Even though the system was not human for the first time in its life it felt that the human that it possessed was a bit too annoying, how many times does it has to answer the same question?

" There was some error, the system cannot detect it but the mana of this world has changed and so has the story," answered the system in a mechanical voice. " The effects of the drugs on the Queen have faded and she is no longer the same —— dazed and confused Queen. Without the effects of drugs the coup d’état wouldn’t happen, if the master still wants to become the Queen of this world then she will have to seize the throne by making the current Queen incompetent to rule."

" How did the effects of drugs vanish?" said Harley as she recalled that everything started to change since the day the Queen became sober of the drugs. Though she was not the one who got the Queen drugged, she aided a little them by using the powers of her system to make the effects of drugs even worse than they originally were, she thought that since Bree was going to be thrown off the throne than she might as make the process quick, but now the effects of the drugs seemed to have vanished all of the sudden.

" The minister was caught, of course, the effects will be gone," said the system before adding, " Master if you want to continue staying in the house then you have to overthrow the Queen."

"I know!" exclaimed Harley as she clenched her fists. " I am the lead of this world and she is the evil Queen of course she needs to go, you should just tell me what should I do?"

"Master should start getting stronger slowly," answered the system as a bottle of black slush appeared about of nowhere and it added, " Please drink this and get stronger, master."

Harley looked at the suspicious-looking black liquid and picked it up before sniffing, the liquid smelled rotten like a dead beast’s entrails causing her to gag. " What’s this?"

" Just drink it, master —- it will get you stronger."

When her system said that it will make her stronger, Harley had no choice but to close her nose and drink the liquid a bit.

As soon as the liquid touched Harley’s lips, in a far away cave, a burst of cold laughter echoed—- " Yes, my dear shell..start getting ready."
