" I gave you a chance to leave, didn’t I?" said Bree as she glanced around the resting room. Since the Dragon Queen used to rest here and even had a fair share of intoxicating experiences here, she might have kept a first aid box somewhere. Though Yakov was a shifter and his healing powers were better than humans, it wasn’t good to leave his wound untreated.

Yakov chuckled as he leaned forward until he was face to face with Bree, because of this move she couldn’t see anything else but his enlarged face and had to stop her hunt of looking for a first aid box temporarily. " That wasn’t you giving me a chance, your majesty. It was you trying to nip the bud for once and all. Giving me a chance would have meant giving us a chance but instead, you gave me an ultimatum and even took my powers away, leaving me to be ridiculed by the ministers once again. Tell me, what kind of cruel second chance is this?"

" Can you get away from me first?" asked Bree as she leaned away from Yakov, she could understand what he was saying but with him leaning so close to her, she couldn’t think straight. It was her old fear that stopped her from getting closer to men, and now that Yakov was leaning in so close she could feel the revulsion creeping on her spine.

Yakov who was leaning close to Bree felt the echo of her revulsion and nearly blew up ... so she was revulsed by his touch now? Very well. She was the one who made a mistake first and yet now she was the one who was repulsed by him... shouldn’t it be the other way round given that she was the one who cheated on him first?

He pushed away, ignoring the whining of his wolf, he strode away from Bree. Though his urge to be next to Bree was his second priority after breathing, he too has his pride, if she doesn’t want him to touch her or get closer to her, he will never touch her either because he wasn’t as shameless as Blaise who would sneak inside her bedroom even when she barred him from coming close. Nor was he as vulgar as Ahmar who would be all right after violating their mate.

No, he was better than those men. He was pure blood and his pride as a pure-blood shifter was something that he will never let anyone trample on.

He sat on the spot he was sitting earlier and looked at Bree with an expression that was too judgemental. " Don’t you think that you are being a hypocrite, your majesty?"

His words paused Bree who just stood up from her chair to get the first aid box from the cabinet behind Yakov. Slowly she turned her head at him and asked in surprise, " What do you mean by this?"

Yakov’s smile was a bit nasty as he looked back at her. " You are repulsed by my touch when I haven’t done anything to let you down. But her majesty has done everything that has me and my faith in you down, but I have never once thought of you as someone repulsive."

Bree straightened up and looked at Yakov who was smiling like a devil. " I don’t get what you are saying, when have I done anything like that?" She wasn’t sure about many things but she was sure of one thing that Bree, the Dragon Queen has never done something that would let her mate down. She walked past Yakov after crossing the table to pick up the first aid box.

" I felt it." Yakov suddenly stood up and came to a stop behind her.

" Felt what?" she asked as she picked up the first aid box.

" The pleasure that you were feeling when those gigglos were making love with you."

His words were like an atomic bomb that was suddenly dropped on her head and Bree almost dropped the first aid box as she turned to look at Yakov’s face and gasped when she saw how furious he looked, gone was the teasing glint. " I felt it, felt how much you were enjoying through the mating bond... it was so hard for me to restrain myself from barging in your bed chambers and kill all those gigglos you were keeping but I didn’t do it, hoping you would come to your senses but you didn’t ... and now that you are back, you are blaming for doing something as killing you? Have you forgotten what the previous Emperor, your father did to his concubine after he found out that she was cheating on him?"

Bree of course hasn’t forgotten, her face paled as she stepped back but Yakov was right on her tail. " Your father dragged the concubine from her bed chambers, and brought her to the stables on training grounds where the worker use to reside and then had his men throw that concubine to a bunch of men who never tasted a woman and asked them to enjoy themselves... that concubine died because of excessive bleeding from her nether regions. That’s what your father did to her and she only had one affair, but you ---my Queen, you had several and I felt every bit of it... you tell me what punishment should I have given you? If you ask me I was being extremely kind to you by just killing you."

Her back hit the cabinets as she stepped back but Yakov kept following her and raised his hand... for a second she thought he was going to hit her, as many men have done the same thing when she hasn’t done what they have asked her to do but to her surprise, Yakov simply tucked a lock of her hair behind her ears as he soothingly whispered, " You are lucky that you are the light of my soul, if someone else would have done something similar to what you did, I would have killed them long ago.. or maybe would have done something like you father."

With that, he stepped back and started to walk away but Bree reached her hand and clasped his wrist, making him pause. She didn’t know why she did that even though she felt she was being too naive or stupid. But she has already caught his wrist so she had no other option but stammer. " your ...finger, it’s burnt let me apply some ointment on it."

Yakov turned his head and looked at her with amusement twinkling in his eyes. " Are you pitying me, Your majesty?"

" No, that..."

" Whatever it is, I am willing to take it," before she could finish speaking, he interrupted and took off his burnt glove and stretched his hand out. " Because I am pathetic like that."
