" Your majesty, you..." Duke Cilantro looked at the maid whose silvery hair was fluttering in the soft wind that was blowing past them from the doors of the ballroom that was left open by the guards. How long? How long was the Queen waging a war against him? Was she against him the second she stepped into his territory?

" This is unfair!" One of the nobles burst out after his nerves were pushed to the edge as he looked at Bree with his eyes popping out of their sockets. " Your majesty, you..you deliberately went against us and hid everything when you wanted to kill us from the very beginning! You have made a joke out of us!"

Bree’s lips curled when she heard the man say those words, she looked at the noble who shouted at her and said with a soft voice, " Did I? Or maybe I was giving you all a chance to redeem yourself. If I wanted I could have killed you without any reason, I am known as a tyrant for a reason, but I did not do that, I stayed silent for such a long time because I wanted to see if one of you will come out and confess if you had done that then you wouldn’t have to worry about anything like this."

She tilted her head and rested it on her knuckles and smiled at the nobles who were turning paler by the minute. " You all are so engrossed in the comforts of corruption that you can’t even think of anything but your benefits."

" But we have submitted to you!" The Duke cried finally realising that he was going to lose everything including his life. " I have submitted to you even when I did not want to, to me Prince Leon was the most perfect ruler but I still served you, your majesty! I surrendered and swore my allegiance to the Empire, what is the price of my allegiance? Can’t I look out a bit for myself?"

" First of all, you did not have a choice to select your ruler when I took over the throne," Bree replied as she rose from the seat where she was sitting and started to walk down the stairs. " You think you had any choice when I rose to power? I don’t think so no. You did not have any choice when it came to that, your only choice was either to give up your life like many others have given and accepted what was going to happen to you, or swear your loyalty to me, who is your ruler and God now and you did."

Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the Duke who was on his knees staring at her with eyes that were wider than saucers. " And you chose the latter option without a bit of hesitation, did you think that you might be loyal to Prince Leon by doing something like this? By defying me and my laws? But the truth is that you are only loyal to yourself Duke. You do not care about anyone else but yourself."

" And I don’t have any reason to keep such a selfish person in my empire," she stated in a soft voice as she raised her head and then smiled at the Duke like a devil.

" Your...your majesty please!" Duke Cilantro banged his head on the floor as he realised that if he did not take a step back and think of some way to get out of this trouble, not only will he lose his life but he will also make his family suffer because of his sins. " Please forgive me, just one chance ...I just need one chance I will redeem myself, I swear!"

" Do you really want to redeem yourself?" Bree asked the Duke with a pondering look on her face, and when the Duke heard her ask this question, he was sure that she might have softened her stance towards him. Even Yakov and Blaise thought that the Queen was going to forgive the Duke which was why they started to frown while staring at the Queen who was standing in front of the Duke.

" Yes, Yes!"The Duke nodded his head as he looked at the Queen and fervently said, " I will, I will do anything as long as the queen orders me to do, I wouldn’t dare to say east if you tell me to go to the west, queen!"

" Is that so?" Bree nodded before she shifted to the side and then pointed to the two Phoenix offspring who were standing next to Yakov. " If the two of them forgive you then I will give you a chance and your officials as well, but the condition is that I want those two kids to say that they are willing to forgive you."

" Wh...What?" The Duke looked at the Queen as if he could not understand what she meant by it to which Bree smiled and repeated, " I want you to apologise to these kids, if they agree to give you a chance then I will give you a chance as well. After all, I can overlook your actions of betraying the imperial law and throne but what I cannot overlook is you imprisoning these kids and torturing them until they were almost dying. If you can earn their forgiveness, then I shall grant you my forgiveness as well, Duke."

Duke Cilantro thought that the Queen was joking with him but when he saw that she was looking at him with a serious face, he started to get convinced. What if the Queen really gives him amnesty? If she does then he will be able to save his life and then in the future, he will be able to hide his actions. " Will you really forgive me, your majesty?"

"That’s right," Bree nodded. " I will set you free and even forgive your actions of betraying me, just earn the forgiveness of these two kids, nothing more nothing less."
