" Would you trust me if I bring all the ledgers along with the documents signed by the residents of my territory will you believe me, your majesty?" Sensing a feeling of dread rise in his heart, he immediately turned to look at Bree and spoke in a panicked voice, he could not let the Queen doubt him any more than she already was, if she was to search him carefully then surely she will find something amiss.

"Now, why are you in a hurry, my dear Duke?" Bree said as she interlocked her fingers and looked at the man who was staring at her with eyes that were filled with terror. " If you are going to show me the ledgers and the agreements signed by the residents who are under your debt, then you might as well bring in the documents of the orphanage as well."

The Duke stiffened ever so slightly when he heard the Queen say that she was going to look into the orphanage documents as well, he was not worried that the Queen will find something in the ledgers of the orphanage but the way she brought the orphanage up made the Duke feel unsettled, they were talking about taxes and the charges that he was pressing on his residents, how in the world did she bring the matter of the orphanage in this discussion?

" Sure," but even though he was feeling unsettled he could not say that he was going to ignore the demand of the Queen, can he? Even if he wanted to drag this woman out of his territory and throw her out, he could only turn to look at the knight who was holding him down and requested in a polite voice, " Can you let me go? I need to bring the documents that her majesty is asking for."

The knight looked at him with a blank expression and then coldly said, " There is no need for you to say something like this, you are a sinner and cannot be let go. If you want then you can hand the key to your office and tell another knight where you have placed the documents and they will bring it here."

The Duke was furious when he heard that he was being treated like this, but seeing that the Queen was not saying anything despite seeing how the knight was blatantly disrespecting him, there was nothing the Duke could say, he lowered his head and then told the knight who was standing next to the one who was holding him down and told him the place where he was keeping the key of his study and the places where the documents were kept.

’ Just you wait once I am cleared of the charges, I will teach you all a good lesson!’ The Duke thought inwardly, he was confident that the Queen will not be able to find anything. And once he gets out of this situation he will definitely suck more funds from the imperial treasury! That will teach this woman a lesson, she was a mere puppet to the men who were ruling the imperial family from the back and yet she dares to treat him like this!

Soon the documents were brought from the study of the Duke and the knights who were responsible to bring those documents to the Queen walked over to where Yakov was standing and then handed the documents to him, one by one.

The Duke stared at the documents that were being handed to Yakov and silently gritted his teeth, he wanted to check whether or not everything was all right one last time but he couldn’t do that because of the chains that were tying him down.

" Psst, Lord Cilantro, will everything be fine ?" One of the nobles asked as he looked at the man who was grinding his teeth, seeing him act like this even the nobles could not help but worry about their safety, everything will be fine, right? The Duke was acting like this at the sight of the documents being handed to the Queen, what if there was a mishap?

" Everything will be fine," The Duke reassured the nobles when the knights retreated. " We have done nothing wrong, there is no need for us to worry about anything."

This was his own way of telling the nobles that he has made sure that the ledgers will not be caught having any problems in them.

" So these are the documents?" Bree asked as she took the ledgers from Yakov.

"That’s right, your majesty," replied the Duke as he lowered his head in submission, those ledgers were all written with black magic spells, there was no way anyone will be able to break them. " You will see that everything that this man has said is nothing but a lie, and similarly you can see that the orphanage and the other ledgers are in order as well."

Bree hummed as she started to look over the ledgers and when she was done reading, she was sure that the ledgers were not in order at all but at the moment, they were completely fine. She then turned to look at Blaise who was standing on her left and said, " Third consort would you please??"

’Third consort?’ As soon as the duke heard Bree call the man who was introduced as the second consort to him being called third consort a bad premonition rose in his heart but at the same time, he thought that even if the head of the magic tower was to come and see the ledgers he would not be able to break the dark magic.

" As you wish your majesty," Blaise raised his hand and then muttered a spell as he drew the counter spell of the spell that was written on the ledgers. No sooner did he do that than the entire ledgers started to shine with a bright light that covered the entire pile and then after a few seconds the light died down, only then did Bree take another look at the ledgers and smirked. " Well well, would you look at that?"
