Chapter 206: They won’t accept me anymore

" Will she be all right?" Bree asked as Yakov and Blaise brought the young unicorn elf with them, she has left the task of bringing the ’hunt’ to them because she knew that no one would have bothered to stop and ask them to hand it over and just as she expected no one bothered the two of them at all, they brought the young elf with them to the room where they were staying with ease without having to listen to anyone.

The young unicorn elf looked as good as dead with her complexion slowly turning white, her nerves turned a very ugly hue of blue marring the papery white skin like cracks decorating a white marble. As Blaise swooped down and placed the young unicorn elf on the carpet that was a shade of fiery red, Bree had to admit that the contrast was devastating.

Blaise has just laid the young woman on the ground when Bracken came rushing inside the room carrying a small bottle that looked a bit too delicate. He bowed to Bree before turning to look at his master as he handed the bottle to Blaise and said in a hurry, " This the only antidote that the magic tower could send at the moment please make sure that you use it carefully, master. I have heard from the guards that the Duke’s knights have been keeping an eye on everything that’s coming from the capital, I was able to get hold of this antidote after brainstorming for a long time."

Blaise along with Bree and Yakov turned to look at the little bottle in Blaise’s hands and when they read the words —— ’ Strength recovering tonic,’ forget about Bree even Yakov ended up laughing out loud as they both turned their gazes away from Blaise.

They could almost imagine the rumours that were going to be spread around all over the mansion tomorrow morning.

Looking down at the small delicate bottle, Blaise wanted to choke the life out of his aide but he somehow managed to calm himself down and didn’t say anything to him at all. It was fine as long as he gets the work done who cares how he got it done, certainly, he didn’t! Even though he said that Blaise immediately poured the antidote of the poison in a glass of water and then threw the bottle as far as he could as if he was practising baseball.

" You can leave now," he turned to look at Bracken who nodded and took his leave after bowing slightly in front of Blaise. The latter still looked sullen but he ignored the trembling shoulders of Bree and Yakov as he crouched on the floor with the glass of antidote in his hand.

" Can you two pay attention?" He asked even though he tried to ignore their giggling he couldn’t do it with them laughing at the top of his head. Blaise was a bit annoyed that he was being treated as such but it was his coin that turned to out to be defective what else was he going to say to anyone else?

" Yeah, sorry about that," Bree was the first one who pressed her lips tight and then suppressed her laugh but Yakov wasn’t the least bit polite he looked at Blaise in a slightly superior manner before he shook his head and let out a soft sigh. " My, I didn’t know you were suffering like this third consort, why didn’t you tell anyone about your condition, if you had told us then we would have done something to help your ’delicate’ condition."

"You are the one whose condition is delicate," snarled Blaise as he tipped the chin of the young unicorn elf and then poured the entire antidote inside the mouth of the unicorn elf.

It was a horrible sight to watch, like seeing a zombie coming alive. The unicorn elf twisted her limbs left and right and in angles that weren’t even humanly possible and things got super scary when she sat up straight and rolled her head in a full circle before falling down on her back and snapping her eyes open as she inhaled sharply as if she was breathing for the first time.

Her eyes were as pure as the greyish orbs of the moon, her eyes flickered left and right while her bluish, granite hair was scattered all over the carpet, she blinked her eyes once and twice as if she was shaking from her daze that was covering the front of her eyes. It took a few minutes before she turned to look at Bree and then Yakov along with Blaise who was leaning close to her.

And then she sat up straight before she pushed herself away from them, her eyes skittering around the room warily as she asked in a soft voice, " Who are you? What have you done to me?"

Magical creatures like phoenixes, unicorn elves and many others didn’t come under the jurisdiction of Bree, they were free creatures and even if the original owner didn’t want to admit it, the laws allowed these creatures to be free of her rule. Therefore, it was not a surprise that the elf didn’t know who was Bree nor did she know about Yakov and Blaise who got to his feet and then turned to look at the unicorn elf with a slightly calm look on his face.

" Don’t be scared like that, we might look like we are bad guys but we are the ones who saved you, do you remember what happened in the forest?" Blaise said as he smiled at the little girl who gasped and shivered as if she was suffering through some sort of anxiety attack. " If not for us you would be dead by now."

The unicorn elf’s long ears twitched as she took a shuddering breath and then got to her feet before speaking in a stuttering motion, " I have to go! My family will leave if I don’t go to them now."

" They must have already left by now," never the one to mince his words Yakov looked at the elf and calmly spitted out the heartbreaking fact causing the latter’s face to crumple up like a dried-up fig. " The hunting noise must have scared them away by now they would have been over to a new place where they would not be founded by shifters ."

The unicorn elves lived deep in forests but sometimes they would come out of their hiding places and start over by moving to another place, they did it in an attempt to never be found by humans but who would have thought that the Duke would come up with the idea of going on the hunt on the very day when the group of this unicorn elf was supposed to move to a new place?

" First consort don’t be like this," Bree snapped at Yakov when she noticed that the eyes of the young unicorn elf started watering, she slowly leaned forward as if to make sure that she wouldn’t scare the young girl away as she said, " Young girl, what’s your name? Can you tell me, maybe I will be able to look for your parents?"

She expected that the little girl would rattle off the names of her parents since it was the only way she would be able to return to her home but instead the unicorn elf shook her head as she said, " I will not be accepted by them anymore, I was touched and saved by shifters, they will never accept my existence."

Bree was stunned by what the young girl has said, as she turned around and looked at Yakov, the latter carefully explained to her the customs of the unicorn elves. Turns out that the unicorn elves were expected to have no contact with the shifters, they believed that they were born with powers superior to that of a shifter. That was to say they could see the future with the alignment of the stars, their powers were extremely valuable and many shifters along with mages craved such a wonderful power.

They tried to rule and shelter the unicorn elves but the elves who were notorious for their arrogance and pride turned a blind eye to the attempts of the shifters. When sweet words didn’t come in handy the shifters and mages turned around and made it so that unicorn elves would not be able to escape their clutches.

The horror that the unicorn shifters had to go through under the hand of the shifters was enough to make them eradicate their traces from the world where they lived together with the shifters in harmony and what was even harsher was that the elves who helped the shifters lost their powers one by one and died in a rather cruel manner.

Ever since then the unicorn elves who called themselves to be the purest existence of this world started believing that in case they were touched by any shifters or much less have any contact with them, their strength would lessen and their pure mana energy will be snatched from them.
