’ F*ck!’ This was Cassius first thought after blurting out that nonsensical excuse, he should have just handed the man a sword and said, ’ Here chop my neck!’ And be done with it. How can he say such things to an alpha male? Even if his relationship with the Dragon Queen was anything but normal but it couldn’t change the fact that the two of them were mated. Saying that he found his mate beautiful was equivalent to provoking him! Cassius immediately sucked in a chilling breath as he raised his head to look at Yakov and sure enough the man was looking at him as if he was looking at a rival—— Damn, he just have to run his mouth here as well.

" I will go and get someone else to help the Queen," He immediately bowed his head and took a step back in scenarios like these it was better to retreat. So, he immediately lowered his head and pretended to act as a weak omega, just look at him. He was such a tiny, little thing with no strength to fight against the big bad alpha, so let him go ...he has no interest in the Dragon Queen even though she was beautiful, with his status he could get any woman he wanted without putting his life on the line.

" That will be better," just as the silence was stretching to the point where Cassius thought he might end up getting a seizure, Yakov silently took a step back and granted him amnesty. Though his eyes were still vigilant, his guard seemed to have dropped because of Cassius’s submissive vibes, " This time make sure that you send someone who knows how to act in front of the Queen, understand?"

" Yes, Yes.." though Cassius was willing to bow his head in front of Yakov, inwardly he was furiously scolding him. ’ You slag man, you have no idea how good of a man I am! If I wanted I could have ogled at your wife until she stripped the last bit of her clothing completely. Instead, I acted like a gentleman and came out of that tent just to make sure that I don’t look at what I am not supposed to look at, and here you are chastising me all because I didn’t stay inside. Humph, seems like my goodwill was fed to dogs.’

Still scolding Yakov in his head, Cassius walked away very well aware of the gaze that was locked at the back of his head. Surely, that man wouldn’t change his mind and come after him with his sword?

Yakov looked at the maid who was walking away and suddenly felt that he was missing something, however, no matter how much he tried to think about it, he couldn’t think of anything. In the end, he blew out a breath and turned his gaze away, maybe he was being a bit too sensitive...the maid was nothing but a weak omega was there any need for him to target her in the same way as he did the other three men at the castle?

He shook his head and strode towards his tent, earlier he came out because the knights have seized the mana crystal of the mountain golem and he had wanted to take a look at its core to see whether or not something was wrong with it. After carefully looking at the mana crystal he did find traces of black magic but other than that there was no other conclusive evidence that would lead them to the culprit, however, he didn’t have to think much about it. He has been keeping a track of Cian’s activities these past days and of course, he knew all about the man he caught and questioned, so of course the fact that Semel was doing something behind the scenes was not hidden from him but what he couldn’t understand was how in the world Semel and his followers came this close to their caravan and yet no one sensed anything?

Was there a mole within them? There could be a chance that there was but if someone really had their hands tied down with black magic he would have sensed it right?

" Ouch!" Because he was thinking about the earlier incident so thoroughly he didn’t see where he was going and it was only when someone ran headlong into him that he snapped out of his thoughts. When he lowered his head, he wasn’t surprised by the flash of silver that flittered in his sight, instead, he sort of expected this to happen, with a sigh he took a step back and looked at Harley in front of him. She was shoving the mop of silver hair out of her face, as she looked at him with slightly pinkish eyes when her gaze fell on his face, she blushed furiously before lowering her head as she said, " Forgive me for the imprudence, first consort."

She has changed her clothes, which wasn’t surprising either after facing the storm of dust and debris, many omegas have changed their clothes. It was in their blood to always stay clean and neat, but still, Harley came as a surprise. Somehow she has managed to secure most of her belongings even after the huge earth-shattering earthquake that happened after the mountain golem fell down, compared to her many omegas were just making do with what they could scourge out of the debris that was left behind after their carriages were smashed and blown into bits.

Dressed in a soft white dress, that hugged her curves Harley made a pretty picture but the thing was, his body wasn’t willing to respond to her even in the slightest bit, what was even more amazing was that even his wolf seemed to have grown bored of the female in front of him, he raised his head took a look at Harley and dismissed her as if she was unimportant.

Yakov stared at her and the only thing that he felt was a sort of regret... he shouldn’t have brought this woman inside the palace to make her, his dummy Empress. Because now that she was showing off her claws, he could see that she was anything but a stupid woman.
