Chapter 68: Lured By The Charming Vampire
His crimson eyes appeared darker from the lack of light as it peered into hers with an unwavering lethal gaze.
A charming grin broke through his lips as he ran his slender fingers through the silky red strands adorning his head, only then did she notice it was falling loosely around his shoulders rather than the usual ponytail tied with golden ribbons.
She also realized he was clad in a fairly simpler outfit rather than the luxurious ones he was typically always clad in. No knuckle rings or golden necklace on him, only a golden earring dropped on one lobe of his ear.
She wanted to move her feet back, away from him because of the awkwardly close proximity between them, but she realized she could topple over the edge of the tower and fall to her death.
It was a great height from the tower to the ground and it would be an equally painful fall but it would only last for a second, the burning sensation of death and then she would close her eyes to an endless sleep.
Although It didn’t seem like a bad idea, she would be able to evade her nightmare if she fell to her death, but her curiosity wouldn’t let her leave without satisfying it.
Damien abruptly moved at least two meters away from her and she realized he read her thoughts which made her instinctively shut her intrusive mind out.
"Why did you call me out here, Lord Damien." She shot her question with a sharp but slightly mild tone.
"You came because you were intrigued and you had questions." Damien said in a slightly drawled tone, as he buried his hands into his trouser pockets.
She pursed her lips before speaking.
"So you lured me out here because of my curiosity." She stated out as she narrowed her jade eyes at him with one raised brow, giving him a skeptical look.
"Lured?" He repeated in a drawl that sounded rather dark in her ears.
He slowly tilted his head up as he peered his crimson eyes at her. She wasn’t sure she was hallucinating or it was real since it was dark, but she saw his red eyes narrow to a slit as the words rolled off his lips.
"I may be a predator but I have better ways to lure my prey." He said in a neutral tone, as his aura became softer, and she suddenly realized how heavy it was earlier, she felt slightly suffocated.
"Right." She muttered in a barely hearing tone as her intrusive thoughts kicked in, screaming in her head to run or better still, jump off the tower and evade the living hell she called a life. For once, maybe she could listen to her intrusive thoughts.
"Fret not, I won’t hurt you." He said in a halfhearted tone as a sarcastic smirk curved the edge of his lips up.
"Why not?" She queried with squinted eyes as she observed him. His breath hitched for a second, as he sucked air between his teeth thoughtfully before he spoke.
"Predators only hunts preys that persists to survive, it makes the hunt even more pleasing. It won’t be any fun to hunt or hurt you, since you have no drive to live. It’ll be like draining a living corpse." Damien said with a soft chuckle, that sounded more like a soft growl as it reverberated beneath his breath.
She nodded in accordance to his reply, it made more sense to her, but then she couldn’t understand why Draco seemed to take pleasure in her pain since she was like a living corpse.
"Wont you ask your questions anymore?"
Damien’s soft baritone voice echoed in her ears, breaking her out of her thoughts.
"You said preys could become predators. I’m curious if its a literal meaning or not." Rama queried.
"Ahh, that."
"It is indeed a literal meaning. Why do you think there’s a fight for power among the human captives? Why they want to be a vampire lord’s mistress?" He queried rhetorically, leaving her hanging in suspense.
He locked his gaze with hers for a long moment before speaking.
"When a vampire takes interest in a human, preferably fall in love or wants someone to give birth to their child, they turn them into vampires, Rama." Damien said as a sinister grin tore through his lips.
Rama’s mouth fell apart, with the lower one touching the floor as her eyes dilated from the horrendous news.
It was ludicrous to hear a vampire falling in love but it was even more absurd to gain knowledge of them turning a human into a vampire.
She was stunned, stricken with speechlessness and in disarray. Why would the humans even want to become vampires? Well, that was an easy question.
They possessed more power in status and physical abilities, but they were blood sucking monsters that took everything away from them in the first place.
Did people no longer have shame or dignity when it came to power? The answer was a blatant no that slapped her right across the face.
"How is it possible to turn humans into vampires? Do you get help from the witches?" As much as she was perplexed, her curiosity overwhelmed her.
"No, we turn them ourselves, with a bite." Damien replied and a shrill scream of terror escaped her lips, thinking she was going to become one since Draco had bitten her, not once but six times!
"Don’t fret, you won’t change." Damien said with a chuckle, amused by her reaction.
"W-What? But you said..."
"The bite is different from a bite to drink your blood, it’s called a bond bite." Damien explained and she didn’t know if she should be relieved or wary, but her mind was in a haze of confusion.
"A bond bite?" She queried in curiosity.
"It turns you into a vampire, as well as bonds you to the vampire that turned you, like couples. The bond is powerful and unbreakable." Damien explained patiently, watching her every puzzled and curious reaction intently.
"That’s amusing, as well as terrifying, I wouldn’t want to turn into a..." She trailed off, as she held back the foul words that were stuck in her throat.
"Vampires can fall in love too, we’re not just monsters, we have a heart, the only difference is that it beats very slowly and it’s cold." Damien said with a solemn countenance, his red eyes softened as he spoke, swirling with an unfathomable glint but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
She didn’t say anymore and intensifying silence hovered above them.
"Is lord Draco something else other than a vampire?" Rama queried with piqued interest as she broke the awkward silence.
Damien stared at her for a second with a blank expression and in the next second, a throaty laughter erupted from beneath his throat, making his Adam’s apple bobble up and down.
His red eyes squinted as he laughed heartily, genuinely amused by her question, but her gaze fell on his perfect white teeth with slightly elongated canines that were revealed as he laughed.
His laughter dropped abruptly to be replaced with a hard look on his face, but then his face softened immediately as a sarcastic smirk broke through his lips.
"Rama..." He called her name in a drawl.
"I was only curious, you don’t have to ridicule me about it." She snapped with a rolling of her eyes.
"I was only amused." He muttered in a low breath.
"Right." She scoffed.
"Although he was acting rather strange today. He felt different." She said the last sentence in a thoughtful whisper.
Damien’s brows furrowed as his face hardened, turning his countenance into a rather serious one.
"Strange?"
Rama averted her gaze from his hesitantly, embarrassment washing over her when she remembered the event that transpired between her and Draco.
She cleared her throat before speaking, after blocking her intrusive thoughts from spilling.
"I don’t know how to explain it." Rama said, fiddling with her dress, but she immediately shoved it aside, that was Malika’s thing.
"He was being wild and uncontrollable, like he went completely berserk. He even attacked lord Zamiel." She exclaimed with a frown etched on her face, weighing the seriousness of the situation, but Damien didn’t flinch even when she said he had attacked his brother.
"Typical Draco. He must have been upset that he was poisoned." Damien said in a tone of nonchalance as he gave his shoulders a casual shrug.
Rama’s brows furrowed at his nonchalant behaviour and the unseriousness he used to address the situation.
"I’ve seen Draco do worse, you would have thought you were looking at the devil himself." Damien uttered with a devilish grin tearing through his lips.
The dark look masking over his face made her realize he truly had seen worse, he might have seen Draco’s true dark side crawl out from beneath his mask to engulf him and she wondered what on earth might have provoked Draco’s true sides to be revealed.
"What made him go berserk?" Rama blurted out and she saw his face turn hard as his crimson eyes turned cold, sucking out the little warmth it retained in them.
