Chapter 67: In The Castle Tower

Chapter 67: In The Castle Tower

Rama dozed off in a deep slumber, it had been long since she had such a long, nice nap and her body wanted nothing more than to sleep since it was exhausted.

She was asleep when she felt someone tugging her as well as calling out her name, but in a rather soft manner.

"Rama." The voice called as she gave her a slight tug in a bid to wake her up and Rama groaned in displeasure, as she opened her lids that were still heavy with sleep.

She reluctantly sat up on the mattress with a grumble. She shot her eyes open to see Malika hovering above her.

"Malika?" She called out in a sleepy mumble as she gradually gained composure, sleep drifting away from her eyes the moment she came into her view.

Malika sat next to her with a worried look on her face as she pushed strands of hair that were falling in front of her face, tucking them behind her ears.

"Are you alright? You look tired." Malika said as she observed her face.

She wanted to speak, but Malika beat her to it as her eyes narrowed when it fell on her lips.

"What happened to you? Your lips." Malika queried in a tone of wary as her brows creased in evident displeasure.

Rama instinctively touched her lips with her finger and she felt a tang of pain in her bottom lip, she subconsciously licked it and the metallic taste of blood coated her tongue.

She suddenly realised it was where Draco had bitten her earlier during the fierce kiss when he went berserk.

Her face turned red when she remembered the event that had transpired and it turned even redder when she remembered her shameless moan.

"It’s nothing, I was careless." Rama blurted out in nonchalance but Malika immediately yanked the sleeve of her dress down to reveal the two puncture marks on her neck.

"What are you doing?!" Rama exclaimed hysterically at Malika’s blunt behaviour.

"Did a vampire bite you?" Malika queried with a sharp tone, despite the subtle frown on her face.

Rama rubbed on the bite mark on her neck before pulling her sleeves up, she could still feel the slight burn from the bite.

"A vampire bit you!" Malika exclaimed when she didn’t reply. Dread was written all over her face as her amber eyes widened with horror.

"It’s Draco, but I’m fine, so don’t worry." Rama assured her in a neutral tone.

"That’s awful, be careful please." Malika said with a terrified wavering voice as she subconsciously rubbed her neck, inwardly dreading a vampire biting her.

"I will." She said with a small smile as she gave her hand a gentle squeeze.

"Where have you been sleeping all this time, is it in the vampire king’s chambers?" Malika queried with fear lingering heavily in her voice.

"Yes, but it’s fine." Rama assured her again, but Malika gulped heavily in fear.

"Uhm, what’s the time?!" Rama suddenly asked hysterically as she remembered she had to meet lord Damien by midnight in the castle’s tower.

She remembered it was already evening time when she went to sleep, so it would have been late by now.

"It’s very late, almost midnight, why?" Malka informed her as she observed her reaction.

"Why aren’t you asleep yet then? Have you been working throughout the night?!" Rama exclaimed in anger as her jade eyes burned.

A tiny faltering smile grazed Malika’s lips before she spoke.

"It’s fine, the other maids don’t seem to like me much, Reina explained to me that there is an insane fight for power, by becoming a vampire lord’s mistress."

Malika explained with a frown etched deeply on her face, as she couldn’t quite understand why a human would want to become a vampire’s mistress for a higher title and power.

Rama scoffed in irritation as she rolled her eyes.

"They’re envious of your beauty then, but don’t let them trample all over you because you’re soft and too kind for your own good." Rama scolded her with a firm glare and Malika’s lips pursed.

"I’m trying, I can’t fight them all on my own. If I try to go against them, I’ll only worsen my situation." Malika complained with a solemn countenance and Rama sighed in exasperation, knowing she was right and she wasn’t even there to stand by her.

"Fine, but if it’s too much, report them to Madam Eleanor, the head of the household affairs, she’ll know just how to handle them." Rama pointed out sternly, if she could she’d handle the maids herself. The next time she caught sight of the maids, she’d teach them a lesson they’d never forget.

"I’m scared of her, she’s a vampire too. I heard she’s a half vampire, but there’s no much difference you know." Malika noted with a low voice as she fiddled with her fingers nervously.

"She’s in charge of the maids, I doubt she’d ignore you if you reported, or I’ll just do it myself anyway." Rama remarked nonchalantly.

Malika’s face lit up and a genuine smile grazed her lips.

"Ahh, thank you. I thought of reporting but whenever I saw her, I’d shrink in fear." Malika stated as she shivered slightly.

"It’s fine, the maids are also shitty towards me. I have to go now, why don’t you take a rest." Rama implied as she stood up, proceeding to leave.

Malika shot her a confused stare.

"Where are you going to, at this time of the night?" Malika queried with knitted brows in wary.

She knew just how dangerous it was during nighttime in the vampire castle and how they swarmed more at night in the castle, as their presence was mostly seen during the nighttime when darkness loomed over the land.

"I’ll be right back, you should go to sleep." Rama said with a tiny smile, but Malika’s brows twisted even more, as she noticed something off.

"No, you shouldn’t go out there, it’s dangerous." Malika warned.

"I don’t see Reina here either, I’ll be fine." Rama said in a firm tone, but Malika shook her head vigorously.

"Reina has a vampire lord she’s...Anyways, she’s probably with him and safe." Malika pointed out and Rama’s brow lifted in curiosity.

"She’s a vampire lord’s mistress, now?" Rama queried, diverting the topic from her.

"She said it’s complicated, she’s his mistress, but not officially his yet...?" Malika said thoughtfully in uncertainty with pursed lips.

"That is indeed complicated." Rama muttered.

"I’ll be leaving now, goodnight!" Rama said frantically in a rushed tone and before Malika could stem a reply, she bolted out of the room through the door, while Malika called after her "Rama!"

Her voice faded as she emerged out into the dark halls, not a single sound nor soul was visible on sight which only made the place even more eerie, only the clinking of her shoes echoed back to her in the hallway.

She moved toward the west wing which led to the tower of the castle. She prayed inwardly she would not come across any blood sucking creatures and she was lucky enough not to come across any, as she was going toward the tower where no one ventured.

She groaned in frustration when she arrived at the rim of the stairs that would lead her to the tower. It would be a hassle to climb the stairs, but maybe it was worth it.

She took a deep breath and proceeded to clamber up the stairs. She ascended up the stairs that seemed to never have an end and she halted, peering her eyes down as the thought to give up fleeted across her mind, but she shook it off and persisted.

She finally arrived at the tower and she felt a gust of wind blow past her, making her gown and hair flail uncontrollably, as the serene sight of the dark greyish clouds with a blanket of glittering stars hovering above her, and the full round silver moon basking the land in it’s dim silvery hue came into her viee.

She moved toward the edge of the tower as she looked down at the land below her. No sceneries of houses greeted her sight, as only a thick expanse of forest did instead, making her wonder just how far the castle was from the rest of the kingdom.

She sighed and closed her eyes as she felt the refreshing wind blow against her body and she inhaled the air mixed with a musky scent. For a split moment, it felt as if she could finally breath again without feeling suffocated, but then, her eyes abruptly shot open when she recognized that musky smell.

She suddenly felt a heavy aura behind her and she slowly veered around with bated breath in suspense. Her eyes met a pair of gleaming red ones, peering right into hers as their gazes locked like a magnet.

It was lord Damien.

"You came." He said in a neutral tone. His tone didn’t hold any surprise in it, as if he was expecting her there.

A charming grin slowly grazed his lips, but it couldn’t dissuade the brewing melancholy beneath it.
