The Devil's Warrior Queen
Chapter 55: Preys And Predators

Chapter 55: Preys And Predators

Without waiting for a response, Zamiel moved into the cave and disappeared into the darkness, losing his form in the unnerving darkness, only the huffing of his feet could be detected as it echoed faintly within.

"Let’s go." Draco ordered and even though Malika didn’t want to go, she had to. Rama, on the other hand was curious about what Zamiel had found, her mind drifted to the shriveled flower that evaporated and she wondered if it was dark magic by witches.

She had never seen witches, although she had heard of them creating dark hexes and potions which were all deadly, but now she was sure she would soon meet one.

Draco and Damien emerged into the mouth of the cave and their forms were swallowed by the darkness, leaving not even their silhouettes, but they would have no difficulty since they could see in the dark.

They didn’t have a choice but to follow, the forest itself seemed dangerous and it seemed like a better idea being by their side.

Rama and Malika quickly followed with Malika clinging to her as she locked arms with her, it was no surprise she was afraid of the dark. They both emerged into the dark cave, walking slowly to avoid tripping on any unseen objects, while Malika’s shaky breathing echoed louder than their feet.

Unexpectedly, the cave suddenly brightened up with dim lighting, as flames suddenly materialized in the snuffed out torches hanging on the wall, which left the girls in bewilderment, but none of the vampires seemed to react in the slightest at the strange event.

"It’s witches, isn’t it?" Malika asked her in a whisper, her small face already turning pale from fear. Rama guessed it could be the witches, after all the cave had an eerie atmosphere. Even though it looked like a typical cave, with high ceilings, rocky walls and all, a sense of darkness encompassed it and mixed itself with the wind.

"I guess so." Rama replied in a bit of uncertainty as they followed closely behind the vampires in case of any unanticipated attacks from witches.

As if Damien read her mind which she was sure he did, he veered around and unsheathed a dagger from its scabbard before extending it to her with a charming smile on his face.

"Thank you, lord Damien." She said with a low awkward voice as she took grasp of the knife, clasping her fingers around the hilt. It was weird thanking a vampire, her mortal enemy. She thought inwardly.

"It’s fine. It’s just for protection, if you need to, you can ask me for help, I won’t hesitate." He stated out firmly.

Okay, that was weird. She thought inwardly.

"Thank you." She said more awkwardly than the last, brows creased in slight confusion. He nodded slightly and veered around as he proceeded further into the cave.

Malika glanced at him and glanced back at her, but she didn’t say a word, neither did she. They were sure to catch every word they would speak even if they spoke in whispers.

Neither Draco nor Zamiel reacted during their interaction, instead they proceeded as they moved further, but they halted at an intersection with three different passageway.

Shriveled flowers were seated at the edge of the intersection, presumably where Zamiel had plucked one from.

"Let’s split out." Zamiel implied and they all agreed silently, excluding the girls who thought it was a bad idea as the whiff of danger intensified the deeper they proceeded.

"You’re coming with me." Draco ordered in a hard voice, directing his order to her which couldn’t be mistaken, because his crimson eyes were piercing into hers in a very discernible way with a dangerous gleam.

Malika meekly unlocked her arms with hers and went along with the two vampires, but Damien parted ways and took the right passageway, leaving her and Zamiel to take the middle one.

Rama didn’t argue against his decision, not that she could, so she kept tight lipped and obeyed as he ordered, but still she was worried about Malika going with Zamiel who didn’t seem to notice anyone but himself, she would have preferred Damien, at least he would have looked after her, which was rather ironic.

She followed as silently as possible behind Draco who proceeded without a care in the world, but she was heedful, eyes scrutinizing her surrounding in case of any unpredictable event that could transpire.

Draco suddenly halted in abrupt movements, she didn’t know what was running through his mind but at that moment, she knew it wasn’t good and her fingers subconsciously tightened around the hilt of the dagger.

He veered around, his eyes locked on hers and he moved toward her with slow calculated steps like a predator about to attack it’s prey. She was intimidated to move back, but she didn’t, instead she rooted her feet to the ground, running away will only make it worse, he’d feel like a predator hunting for his prey.

His towering figure halted in front of her, inches away from her as their bodies were barely brushing and she could feel the heat emanating from his.

"Your little show in the forest was quite disappointing." He drawled with a low voice that echoed softly in the cave, making it sound darker than it usually did.

"What do you mean?"

He wasn’t stupid, neither were the others even though Damien played along with her little show as Draco referred it, but she knew she would face his anger provoked by his mighty ego of a mere human aiming a gun at him, especially her whom he derived sole sadistic pleasure from her pain.

Before she could transpire what had ensued, his hand grasped her chin and pinned her to the wall, fingers pressing into her cheeks but he was sure not to make her bleed, which was a bit startling.

"If I made you bleed I’d drain you dry right now." Draco confessed with a dark growl, her curiosity satisfied and a scoff left his lips.

"So where was I again?" He queried rhetorically, but she couldn’t speak even if she wanted to, his fingers were buried into her cheeks which made her wince in pain as her skin burned.

"Your little show. Pull that sort of thing on me again and I’ll fuck you up in ways you’ve never being fucked before." He threatened in a dark hiss.

Her brows creased as his words twisted into an underlying meaning in her head, it made her legs wobble weakly, but the pain quickly shoved his words aside.

She lunged her dagger at him, she’d do anything right at that moment to free herself from the burning pain he inflicted on her, but as quickly as she lunged the dagger at him, he caught her hand with one hand, while freeing her face in the process, but his free hand grabbed her neck, pinning her body firmly to the wall.

His grasp on her neck wasn’t tight enough to choke her, but it was enough to inflict pain on her, while his other hand grabbed hers with the dagger tightly, making her wince in pain as she felt as if her bones were going to snap any moment if his pressure on her wrist intensified.

Using her free hand, she sent futile punches into his strong arms, limbs flailing beneath him but it was useless. She loosened her grip on the dagger and it fell, but her free hand was right beneath it ready to catch hold of it and plunge it into his chest.

She moved her free hand as quickly as she could to catch hold of the dagger, but it was too late, Draco caught hold of it in a swift rapid movement she couldn’t detect.

Her face twisted in anger as he laughed maniacally, his red eyes glowering down at her and she saw a muscle in his sharp jaw tick. The dim light from the torches illuminating on him couldn’t deter the darkness that cloaked him.

His grip on the hilt of the dagger tightened and she saw his hand incline ready to plunge it. He lunged the dagger right above her head and drove it into the rocky walls with a swift, rapid movement, only the hilt of the blade could be visible as he drove it into the wall with brute force that employed cracks on the wall, but she didn’t flinch.

His red eyes swirled darkly, a kind of untamed darkness she had never familiarized herself with before and truthfully, she felt the hair on the back of her neck stand.

He suddenly yanked her wrist toward his slightly parted mouth, his elongated canines were visible and they now seemed longer than usual, even his red eyes seemed different, almost as if his red eyes were blazing with a fiery flame swirling inside it, giving it a reddish golden hue, but she figured it was the effect of the dim lighting.

He abruptly bit on her wrist, sinking his canines into her skin viciously like a ravenous feral being and she couldn’t stifle the whimper that escaped her lips from the pain.

He retracted his fangs, a devilish grin adorning his lips as blood smeared his lips which he licked off as he savored the taste, his red eyes sparked like a thousand bolts flashing through them.

She wanted to withdraw her hand as a trail of blood trickled from the tiny holes, but he yanked her forward for her body to press into his and he slammed his lips on hers roughly, it was filled with bitterness as he stroked his lips against hers in a fierce manner before pulling his lips from hers as quick as they met.

Rage sufficed Rama’s being, how dare this bloodthirsty monster!
