The Devil's Warrior Queen
Chapter 56: Untamed

Chapter 56: Untamed

Rama’s face twisted into a deep scowl as she fervently wiped off her lips, scrubbing hard with the back of her sleeve, not caring that it burned or her skin could peel, she was more disgusted and repulsed than she could ever have been from the bitter kiss he gave her.

Draco merely gazed at her, his jaws ticked softly and she saw him return back to normal, he wasn’t normal but at least he went back to his rational self.

For a split moment, he acted bizarre like an untamed beast that was about to devour her, he looked different, felt different and she felt fear course through her veins deeper than it ever did, she could taste the fear, feel it on every hair standing erect in her body and every cell and when she looked into his red eyes swirling with a fiery hellish flame, it was almost like he became the devil himself.

Rama realized that he had been concealing his true nature, the embodiment of darkness and even though she saw an unfamiliar side of his dark essence, she felt as if it was only a fragment of what he truly was beneath the mask he wore and she shivered at the thought of him revealing his true nature, it made her blood run cold and the question, what was he? Rang in her head continously. He was no mere vampire, after seeing a fragment of his true nature, she was convinced that he was something else other than a night creature.

Draco’s jaws ticked as he looked at her, she was shaken and afraid of him, he could smell her fear stronger than it ever engulfed her and he felt displeasure, irritated and irked that she feared him. He knew she was scared of him, but her fear had always been overpowered by her rage, but now, the stench of her fear was strong, her rage had diminished as her fear rapidly engulfed it.

Fear from humans made him feel a sense of sadistic pleasure and superiority, but sensing her fear made him feel repulsed with the way she felt, he hated the feeling of fear from her, but he hated the fact more that he didn’t gain pleasure from her fear and warning bells rang in his head.

He had shown her only a fragment of his true nature and she had cowered in fear, but still he could see a flicker of rage in her eyes, she was repulsed and disgusted from the bitter kiss he gave her, but her fear made her tight lipped and no reaction was elicited from her.

Instead, he could read her thoughts as she pondered endlessly on what he was, not quite fully believing the story of him being a pure bred vampire, he knew she had her doubts, but at that moment, her doubts intensified which only made him even more irked, she was too inquisitive, too curious and now she was curious on the darkness within him, he’d rather keep contained.

He was expecting a reaction or a defiant act, but she didn’t do anything, she was cautious and it only irked him more, making his face turn into a grim one and then, he suddenly veered around and proceeded toward the path he was taking.

She figured the best thing to do was to stay silent and not tick him off, she didn’t want to encounter whatever unfamiliar untamed beast that laid underneath his mask, maybe she was better off not knowing, but her curiosity didn’t buy it, she needed to know what the mystery behind his enigmatic nature was.

The devil had more secrets than she had assumed and she would undeniably discern the mystery on her own risk.

She tiptoed behind him, making as less sound as possible, but no matter how quiet she tried to be, he could hear every sound she emitted, from her soft breathing to her heart pounding beneath her ribcage and it only irked him even more as she tried to stay silent.

He wanted to say something, but he swallowed his words as he caught sight of an enclosed space the path led him to. A stone pyre stood in the middle of the space and the the area seemed darker and heavier than the rest part of the cave.

She suddenly noticed there were no burning torches in the space, which elicited its darkness, but she could make out the silhouette of an odd figure laid on the stone pyre, although it wasn’t moving and the putrid smell emitted in the space, made her aware it was coming from the figure and it was presumably dead.

She gagged softly as the smell choked her and she wriggled her nose in disgust.

Draco slowly tilted his head upward to look at the high ceiling which was clouded with darkness, not a hint of light dispersed on it, but his face turned slightly grim when his eyes narrowed to the rocky ceiling.

Rama’s gaze followed and she caught sight of a glowing inscribing that intensified just above the stone pyre on the rocky ceiling.

A faint sound of feet dragging against the floor broke her out of her observation and when she directed her gaze to where the sound was emanated from, her eyes met a pair of pure black ones, not a hint of white in it, it seemed like human, probably a female but she could swear to the gods it wasn’t human. She felt as if her soul was pulled into the dark abyss in its gaze.

It’s skin was a dark greyish hue with faint cracks on the surface that made her body look like an eggshell that was about to shatter. Her black long hair appeared damp and unwashed as it clung to her scalp. Her hand were extended to attack with long talon like nails to view.

She snarled, exposing her jagged teeth, more like fangs that made Rama almost jump out of her skin as she looked at the hideous woman, but she realized it was no woman but a witch, she had never seen witches before, but if she had to bet on which creature would be looking hideous, it would be vampires but how wrong had she been.

She had only heard rumors of witches kidnapping and enslaving the human species for their rituals and for dark magic purposes, she didn’t think they’d look like demons, but there was one right in front of her looking like the perfect description of a vampire.

She suddenly wished she had her dagger with her, but Draco had pummeled it into the wall, she suddenly had the urge to glare at him, but now was not the right time, she felt that if she took her eyes away from the witch, it would attack her and it didn’t help that it was right beside her either and worse, it didn’t seem like Draco was ready to move an inch from his position, she couldn’t even hear him breath behind her.

For a split second, she thought he disappeared and she suddenly had the urge to look back, but she could still feel his dark aura weighing heavily behind her so she inwardly sighed in relief, but her heart was still pounding hard against her ribcage as the witch prepared to attack her.

Her incredibly long claws were lunged at her and even though, she could feel Draco’s presence, she resorted to defending herself. She wouldn’t dare taint her pride and call for his help, she’d rather die in the hands of the hideous witch.

The witch glid across the floor towards her, enclosing the space between them in a second, jaws wide open as she snarled, making Rama think if she was a witch or a wild animal.

Her hands were just an inch away from slashing Rama’s throat with her claws and then a familiar gust of wind blew past her, the next moment transpired too quickly, it always did and she realized it was Draco saving her....Again.

She heard bones snap and flesh tear and then she saw the witch’s bloody lacerated forearm in Draco’s hold before he dropped it to the floor with the coldest glare in his eyes. But then, her eyes narrowed to the woman on the floor writhing in agonizing pain as she supported her decapitated arm with blood oozing out of it.

The woman was drop dead gorgeous, her smooth porcelain skin was fairer than the fairest, her black silky hair fell loosely in deep waves around her shoulders and her eyes had the most striking blue she had ever seen.

She glanced around the enclosed space in deterioration, looking for the witch while wondering who the woman was, it was impossible for the gorgeous woman to be the witch, unless she could shape shift. It seemed reasonable, but still unbelievable as she stared at the woman in disbelief. She looked nothing close to the hideous blood thirsty monster that had attacked her, what the hell was going on?!

But if Draco had attacked her, then it was safe to assume she was the witch.

Was she the witch? She pondered.
