Chapter 50: The Seer’s Prophecies Haunts Me
Rama’s legs wobbled weakly and she breathed out shaky gasps, as she felt a sudden chill run down her spine and the unnerving darkness in the room didn’t help as the candle lights had been snuffed out.
If Draco was right about the seer’s inauspicious prophecies, then she wondered if she would attain her throne beside her unknown king, yet to be known. She was in a state of deterioration and she felt the compelling urge to go back to the seers for clearer elaboration.
"Don’t fret, whatever they predicted will come true anyway and there’s nothing you could do to alter it." Draco’s baritone voice broke her out of her trance like state.
"How do I become a queen if I’m fated to become a monster?" She blurted out in a low tone, barely a whisper.
Draco’s blank eyes dilated faintly as he sat up on the bed, making the sheets fall loosely on his waist to reveal his unclothed upper body. His hard taut chest and his firm layers of ab muscles adorned his upper body in perfection, but Rama could barely see those as her mind could only think about the unnerving prophecies passed on to her.
"They predicted you becoming a monster? Well, how interesting." Draco drawled with an amused tone as a sheepish grin tore across his lips.
His muscles flexed as he ran his fingers through his midnight black hair that sprawled loosely on his shoulders and as if Rama’s soul returned to her body, a grim expression settled on her face as she saw the sight in front of her, but she ignored him, not saying a word as she had bigger problems to deal with, like first and foremost, not becoming a monster.
"I need clarification from them. I need to understand their confusing prophecies." Rama said thoughtfully in a wary tone with a mixture of impatience and confusion. They had said a lot, yet her mind was clashing like waves as the words rang distortedly in her ears, making her unable to recall some of it.
"What were the exact prophecies? Maybe I could help since I’m well acquainted with monsters." Draco said with keen interest and she scoffed.
"Of course you are." Rama snapped with a roll of her eyes even though she knew it could be very well perceptible to his sight.
"We both know you won’t be seeing the seer’s anytime soon, so right now I’m the only one that could help." Draco said in a rather calm tone which made her even more skeptical about his goal.
"And why would you care to help?" Rama snapped.
"Because I’m intrigued by your dilemma." Draco replied in a clipped response, but he seemed genuine about helping which she found vaguely odd and in the long run, sketchy, but since he wanted to help even though it was giving her the creeps, she’d give him a try.
"Fine." She said and Draco waited patiently for her to speak and she observed his face for a second. It was neutral and devoid of any emotions whatever, be it mischievousness or malicious intent, he seemed genuinely piqued which seemed good enough for her.
"I don’t remember the exact words, but they said I’d become a monster that would haunt the by roads and a tale of terror to tell children at night. I’d be a curse to the history of my fallen kingdom and people, I’d be feared and hated. It’s nothing good at all and it’s confusing." Rama grunted in frustration.
Draco’s neutral countenance faltered slightly and she saw an unfathomable glint in his eyes as he looked at her and it appeared like uneasiness. But why would he be uneasy about her becoming a monster? She pondered.
"Is that all?" Draco asked, his tone hard and serious.
"Wait! They also said I’d become one with his darkness and I’ll be dancing with the devil. There’s nothing good about dancing with the devil, is there? And the identity of this unknown devil wasn’t conveyed. My fate is doomed, I’m doomed!" Rama said hysterically as she shook her head, but Draco stayed silent as if his mind was wandering somewhere else as he stared into the darkness.
"Draco!" She called with a loud snap, bringing him back to earth and he whipped his head toward her before abruptly sprouting up from the bed. He was only in his pants which hung low on his waist. He was lean and perfectly sculpted with strong muscle layers that retained an immense strength.
His veiny muscular arms felt as if they could carry the weight of the world effortlessly on his hands and his muscles flexed as he approached her, his broad shoulders moving with elegance and she felt her face flush as he closed the distance between them.
It felt as If he commanded the darkness as he moved, making it hover around him in an unnerving way as it blended with his figure.
She moved her feet back, hands searching for whatever to hold onto as her jade eyes darted away from his body to the dark space in the room. Her hands clutched on the edge of the table beside her for support as he neared her, while subconsciously holding her breath.
"You becoming a monster might not apply in a literal sense. You could become a monster by your deeds or the choices you make, you don’t have to turn into one literally." Draco explained but he was awkwardly uncertain, as if he doubted his own words, but most of the words didn’t enact into her skull as she wondered why he was that close to her in the first place just to convey his thoughts on the pressing issue.
His dark aura and manly appeal seemed to have an unfathomable magnetic pull and she found herself squirming in unease, eager to get away from this daunting yet alluring devil.
"You’re in my way actually." Draco’s husky voice rang in her ears and she gave herself a mental smack, refusing to let her guard down as his intoxicating voice whisked into her ears.
"What?" She spluttered, confused about how she was in his way, after the table there was a wall. Was he trying to seduce her? Her brows furrowed at the thought, yet her body betrayed her as she felt a rising heat on her cheeks, making a flush of red hue appear on them.
"You wish, but I’d like for nothing more right now than to have my drink." Draco said in a flat tone and she whipped her head backward, only for her eyes to fall on the bottle of liquor on the table. Her cheeks flushed redder in embarrassment and with an awkward clearing of the throat, she moved aside, a few meters away from him.
She watched him as she took hold of the bottle and poured the contents into a glass cup. She never imagined a night creature enjoying liquor. They weren’t different from men, they only possessed a strength and different eating system, but something about Draco was a far cry from the rest of them.
"There’s no way I’d do monstrous things, the seers must be wrong one way or the other." Rama muttered under her breath as she pressed her thoughts on Draco’s words.
"The seers are never wrong and it seems you have a darkness in you, you’re yet to explore." Draco said and with those words, he brought the rim of the glass to his slightly parted red lips and gulped down the contents of the liquor, his Adam’s apple bobbling up and down in the process.
"I have no darkness in me." Rama stated firmly in confidence and Draco stirred the contents in the glass.
"You don’t want a peaceful quiet life, you want an adventure, to explore the world beyond your limit and a touch of danger too and you can’t explore without darkness, Rama but it seems you let the darkness engulf you." Draco said and she shook her head softly in denial.
Although he was right, she had never yearned for a quiet life, but rather an adventurous one and she did like danger, there was a thrilling feeling that surged in her whenever she did something dangerous or broke the rules, but she had never imagined herself getting drawn into the path of darkness.
Her eyes suddenly dilated, which was obvious that she had remembered something.
"The seers also said that I’d lead that unknown devil to the path of light and ignite a flame with my touch, I only hope it’s not the devil in a literal sense." Rama said in an awry tone, shaking the thought that it could be the devil.
"It’s definitely not." Draco said in a grim tone, his brows furrowed tightly and she saw a muscle in his sharp jaws ticked. He seemed to retain more knowledge about the seer’s strange prophecies but she couldn’t understand why he was leaving her in the dark.
It was obvious whoever the seer’s referred to as the devil in their prophecies would be the king she would be ruling as a queen beside, but something didn’t click right with him, he was acting a bit disorientated and rather uneasy even though he barely showed it.
Her subconsciousness hid under the rug, dreading the thought that maybe...just maybe...Could it be? She pondered in a frozen state.
Could Draco be the devil and she’d be his queen?
