Chapter 51: The Seers Prophecies Haunts Me II

"What a ludicrous thought. It only proves the fact that you’re in love with me, what a shame I’ll never be able to reciprocate it." Draco’s drawled dark voice broke her out of her pondering state.

"What?" She spluttered in confusion as his words hadn’t quite processed into her head.

"How could you in your wildest dream think for even a second that I’ll ever make you, a human slave my queen?" Draco emancipated very slowly on every word rolling off his lips in disgust, to engrave it into her head and she felt a sting of hurt at his remark but her pride couldn’t let her reveal it or he’d taunt her more, so she retained a hard expression.

She hated the fact he could read her mind but at that moment, she was mortified. She stood frozen to the ground, speechless with embarrassment as he peered his darkened eyes at her.

She could feel the intensifying heat on her cheeks and her fists clutched her skirts tightly.

"It was only a harmless thought. Besides, the seers spoke of the devil and the only devil I’m acquainted with is you." Rama blurted out, trying to sound as composed and unaffected as possible.

It was absurd even to her, the ridiculous thought of Draco taking her as his queen. It didn’t seem like a possible feat and at the same time, it didn’t seem fully inconceivable either.

He twirled the glass lightly before placing it on the table. His gaze locked with hers and a sarcastic smirk pulled the edges of his lips up in a rather daunting manner that seemed to make her skin crawl. Why was he giving her that smile?

"I’m going to sleep. You disrupted it for a silly nightmare." Draco said in a lazy tone as the smile dropped and he mechanically approached the bed. She watched as he sank into it and lay down on his back. His eyes shut close and silence ensued.

Her nightmare wasn’t silly and neither were the seers prophecies. He was obviously trying to evade talking about it for an unknown reason, but she was confused on why and how her inauspicious prophecy seemed to have an effect on him, whether he was the devil or not in the riddled prophecy.

Even though he had tried to conceal it with a thick mask, she was glad she observed all to well to realize something was off with him, as he behaved uneasy and awkward when she explained the prophecies to him.

She had always been observant of people’s behaviours, which was rather a good trait for a ruler.

She was no longer one but it didn’t matter, as she could easily decipher a person’s behaviour, but Draco’s personality was a bit difficult to understand as he always concealed his emotions beneath a thick mask of cold emptiness. Although from her observations, he was hiding something.

He had only displayed his anger recently but even she knew that was just a fragment of his real anger. He had never truly revealed his true emotions and it didn’t seem like he would anytime soon. His emotions were probably as dead as his soul.

Her gaze fell on him as he slept soundly on the bed. He appeared to be in a deep slumber, but even she trusted her instincts that he might be feigning an act and couldn’t be fooled by it.

His usually hardened face was a tad softer when he slept, making him look less dangerous even with his menacing aura still cloaking him. His long silky black hair sprawled on the pillow. His enviable long, dark thick lashes brushed his upper cheeks as his eyes were closed.

She wanted to look away but her awkward habit of observation got the better of her and she carried on with her observation, but the thought of him catching her while she stared at him like a creep as he slept, made her a bit cautious. He’d surely taunt her with the ’You’re in love with me’ line. How he thought so highly of himself, but she wasn’t into toxic vampires.

His skin was pale, but it had a silvery hue which felt as if his skin was glimmering in the reflection of light and even as dark as it was, the silvery hue still stood out. As much as she wanted to deny, it was an ethereal sight that fascinated her.

His cheekbones were well defined, his strong pointed nose was perfect and right where it belonged. His red full lips were a cupid in shape and were set in a straight thin line as he slept instead of it’s usual smirk where the edge would curve up. His sharp jaws were sharper than her blades and she saw a muscle flex in his jawline, but he didn’t wake up.

She wondered if he was having a dream or a nightmare. She hoped it would be the latter, monsters deserved to be haunted by nightmares like the ones they trapped others in. She continued her observation even though she wanted to stop. Her eyes were grazing over his upper body that was left unclothed.

Every muscle adorning his body seemed unreal to perfection and she wondered if all vampires were born perfect. Perfect on the outside but imperfect on the inside, how ironic. She thought inwardly.

She scoffed with disgust. Was their outward appearance supposed to act as a compensation for all their crimes? No! They should all pay with their extinct, that would be the only compensation to be qualified.

His chest was rising and falling softly and she imagined plunging a dagger into it, to pierce into his heart while her hands would be drenched in his warm blood.

"Stop imagining impossible things and go to bed." Draco’s deep voice made her flinch, but he didn’t open his eyes still and continued sleeping.

She could feel her heart throbbing hard against her ribcage and she took soft breaths as she composed herself.

She moved to the sofa and lay down on it. Hell no way she would sleep with him in the same bed, even though she missed its comfortability and the silk sheets rubbing against her skin, but the chair wasn’t that bad, at least it was much better than the worn out mattresses in the maids quarters.

Her jade eyes dilated as she remembered the vial she stole from Draco’s chambers were still hidden in the maids quarters she occupied with Reina. She’d grab hold of it first thing in the morning, she thought inwardly before she closed her eyes to sleep, but still she couldn’t sleep as the prophecies of the seers kept haunting her, but finally her eyes felt heavy and she drowned in the seers ominous prophecies.

Eventually dawn broke, but nothing about the morning or a new day seemed to excite her anymore.

In the past she had been optimistic whenever a new dawn broke, counting the days until she would become queen and a new era would be made, but there was nothing to look forward to anymore, not even the seers ominous prophecies of her becoming queen excited her, because it didn’t seem like a promising prophecy but rather, an inauspicious one, one that made her skin crawl in fear of the unknown.

She shut her eyes tightly, refusing to open it even though the sun rays couldn’t peek through the velvet curtains because it was always drawn together, inducing darkness in the room.

She didn’t want to wake up to meet those cold crimson eyes of the vampire who destroyed her life, but she knew she would and her stomach twisted in a painful knot that made her groan.

She wanted to scream and cry loudly, but she couldn’t give him that sadistic satisfaction of seeing her in pain. He thrived in pleasure from her misery.

She could hear the clinking of boots against the marble floor until it approached her. She could feel him towering above her curled figure on the sofa and the darkness oozing from his body made her feel suffocated.

"Get up. I’m not supposed to be waking you up, don’t you think it’s the other way round? You’re no longer a princess." Draco snapped, pure irritation and disdain coating his voice.

She shot her eyes open as she sat up on the sofa to meet his cold, souless gaze down on her. His mood seemed awkwardly shitty, it seemed like someone had stepped on a dragon’s tail that morning, but as she observed him with keen interest, it didn’t seem like someone had irked him, instead it seemed as if he was irritated by her, but she hadn’t done anything wrong or was it the prophecy? She queried inwardly.

"Stop doing that. It’s annoying." Draco snapped again as his face twisted with a grim countenance. He had caught her observing him and she stopped. He appeared irritated enough to rip her apart.

"You seem bitter my lord." She said with her sweetest delicate voice she never knew she possessed until then and she saw his black eyes dilate.

Was it anger or something else? She couldn’t fathom.
