Chapter 43: Bloodthirsty Creatures In The Foggy Forest

Rama’s feet subconsciously moved backward as she hid her small figure behind Draco’s towering one, hiding her presence from the creature’s dark gaze. Her eyes accidentally darted to the side and her gaze dropped on the coachman.

He was lying on a pool of his own blood after being shredded apart to bloody pieces like a rag doll, his limbs and guts were dispersed on the ground and her jade eyes dilated at the gory sight and if she had any food left in her stomach, she would have retched it all out, but fortunately it was empty.

She quickly averted her gaze from the sight with quivering lips. She had thought the vampires were the most inhumane and heartless beings she had ever encountered, but it appeared beasts would always remain beasts, protraying their natural vicious essence in their ferocious ways.

The growling of the creatures brought her out of her trance like state as her gaze fixated on them in alert. They were about eight of the beastly creatures in total and she subconsciously compared their strengths altogether to Draco’s.

She wasn’t quite sure he could single handedly take out the creatures even with his inhumane strength and speed, she assumed it was almost inconceivable for him to take out the feral creatures that undoubtedly harboured supernatural strengths.

The thundering growl of the creatures brought her out of her dazed state and she reflexively grasped the arm of Draco tightly in a subconscious state.

Draco’s glowering crimson eyes stared down at her with lifted brows and then she quickly loosened her grip as she cleared her throat nervously, but still her skin crawled in dread, although Draco didn’t give out a whiff of uneasiness at his predicament when he was obviously outnumbered, rather he appeared nonchalant, not in the least shaken by the sight of the creatures.

The creatures moved with daunting slow steps toward them and in a blink of an eye, the creatures leapt midair at them, making a shrill scream of terror escape Rama’s lips even when she tried to stifle it, but it was impossible to stifle it when she anticipated the gruesome pain the beasts would inflict on her before her death.

She had been trained in the mastery and skill of fighting, but her trainings were all against humans and not paranormal beasts who could easily tear her apart with their bare hands and worse, she had no weapon to defend herself with.

She felt vulnerable and fragile like a damsel in distress and she abhorred the repulsive feeling of weakness, but there was nothing she could do as she was powerless at the moment.

The happenings that transpired in the next second fleeted too fast before her eyes for her brain to process properly. The creatures had sprang from their feet midair and in the blink of an eye, Draco disappeared like lightning from his position, as she felt a heavy gust of wind whisk past her.

His movements were undetected and parallel to none, she could only hear the whooshing of the wind as his feet glided through the air and in the next moment, she saw blood spraying in the air as Draco decapitated the creatures.

One of the creatures sprang from it’s feet as it lunged its sharp claws and bared its jagged teeth at Draco. His hand flew to the creatures neck, impaling through it’s flesh with its claws and with an effortless movement, its head separated from its neck, with its spine still connected to it as it half rolled on the floor to land in front of Rama, who gulped hard as she backed away from the hideous detached head.

The creatures attacked him in unison but he surpassed them in strength and resilience as he effortlessly laid them all to waste, rivulets of crimson rivers of blood bathed the floor like a stream as he tore them to shreds with swift movements.

She could barely catch a glimpse of his movements and he seemed imperceptible to sight, as he slaughtered them ruthlessly.

He exuded darkness from every fiber of his body as he killed the creatures, and a maniacal grin spread across his face as he gave them a taste of his wrath, making him look more eerie.

His crimson eyes gleamed with a sadistic glint as he induced terror on the strange creatures and at that moment, he looked nothing less than the devil himself as his dark aura overwhelmed theirs, like he was evoked from darkness itself in a literal sense.

Her eyes darted back and forth from the gust of wind portraying Draco’s presence and the creatures as they dropped dead with detached limbs and decapitated bodies dispersed on the floor and blood streaming on it to create a small rivulet of crimson river.

She was frozen on her position as she watched Draco in a dazed and regretfully impressed state as he laid waste to the creatures, but her observations were abruptly disrupted and she came out of her dazed state when she heard a low growl just behind her, followed by the heavy huffing of feet as it dragged across the floor.

She could feel the cold air on her skin and the guttural sense emanated from its growl, which sent a terrifying shiver down her spine. Her body trembled slightly, both from the cold and fear as she heard the deepened growl from behind her, making the hair on her skin stand erect in dread.

She ever slowly, in a snail’s pace veered around, inwardly dreading to see the creature standing behind her. She finally veered around to meet the black eyes of the creature’s peering into hers. It’s black soulless eyes like a void of infinite darkness pulling her into its terrifying gaze that made her skin shrivel up.

The spikes shooting out of its back shook with a rattling sound as if preparing to attack her.

The cold air became colder, pricking into her skin like ice daggers, but still, she felt sweat drops manifest on her forehead and her palms dripped with sweat in fear.

Was this how her end finally was? If it was, then the seers were undeniably wrong about her attaining her position as a queen and there would be no redemption for her after all, she’d die as Draco’s maid unfortunatelt. Draco was right after all, their predictions weren’t so accurate.

The creature took a step toward her, elevating its upper body up as it proceeded to take a leap toward her. She shut her eyes close, not wanting to take a look at the hideous creature up close as it tore her to shred.

Even though she was dreading inwardly, she wouldn’t dare aske Draco for help, she’d gulp down her heavy pride and die with it, but she wouldn’t dare call her ultimate rival for help, no matter how distressing her situation was. She strengthened her resolve as she shut her eyes and awaited her death with elevated heart pace throbbing loudly against her ribcage.

Just one look at the contorted beastly face of the hideous creature could give her an unforeseen heart attack, even the seers would have failed to predict.

The last thing she heard was the thunderous growling of the creature as it sprang up on its feet toward her with extended claws midair.

With eyes closed for more than a second as she anticipated her gory death, she was sure the creature would have gotten to her with its speed and agility, but silence ensued for the next moment and she felt a heavy gust of wind brush past her with a rapid pace, followed by the squelching of tearing flesh and bones breaking.

In a deteriorated state of confusion, she shot her eyes open, shaky gasps and heavy huffs of breath escaped her lips, as she caught sight of Draco with the creature’s hideous head in his hand which was drenched in dark blood of the creatures.

A sly smirk cut through his lips as he peered his dark crimson eyes into hers and heavy silence ensued which made her realise he had gotten rid of the strange creatures as she scrutinized the place, which looked no less than where a bloody massacre had ensued with detached limbs and decapitated bodies dispersed on the ground.

Her racing heart gradually subsided with a sigh of relief but when she met the gleaming red ones of Draco which was swirling with its usual sadistic glint, its pace elevated again.

He had saved her, but she felt like she was in a much worse plight than getting devoured by feral creatures.

"I have never heard you scream so loudly. I thought nothing scared the fiesty princess." Draco drawled with a sarcastic smirk tearing across his lips as he retained his gaze on her.

She couldn’t deny even if she wanted to, she was scared and she hated the feeling.

"W-What were those creatures?" She stuttered slightly, not fully regaining her composure after the near death experience.

"The distraction." Draco replied in a clipped tone as he wiped off the blood stains on his hand with a clean kerchief, which made her wonder how many kerchiefs he kept on him.
