The Devil's Warrior Queen -
Chapter 42: Spill The Blood
Chapter 42: Spill The Blood
"We’ve told you what you want. Now leave!" The seers shrieked in anger as their obsidian eyes glowed with rage at Draco.
"Not what I want to hear. Do you think I’m that stupid not to know? The humans and witches conspiring together to kill me. I need more, they’re onto something big, so spill or the snake’s blood won’t be the only thing I’ll be spilling." Draco threatened with a low growl and heavy silence ensued for a lengthened moment.
"They’re trying to divert your attention from them with the attacks. The humans and witches aren’t the only ones who wants you dead, stronger forces are coming to spill your blood." The seers said and a loud cackle erupted from their lips.
"Who or what?" Draco queried demandingly with impatience.
"The angels of death, demons of terror and Lucifer, just like he spilled hers." The seers exclaimed with a hoarse voice as their eyes rolled to the back of their heads and a louder cackle rolled off from their lips, after speaking in riddled words that Rama could barely decipher the underlying meaning to it, but Draco seemed to understand what they meant.
In a beat, she heard the slashing of claws piercing through squelching flesh and a soft thud in the darkness, followed by the loud wailing of the seers.
"No!! Sister!! You killed her, you demon!!" The seers wailed and Rama realized he had killed one of the seer in the moment of rage sufficing his entirety.
"Two is better, unless you want another deduction." Draco spat out between gritted teeth in a dark hiss with not a hint of remorse. He stormed out of the room and took out a kerchief from his trouser pocket, wiping the blood stains dripping from his hand.
Rama followed behind him in silence as he clambered down the stairs. She could feel the intensifying darkness of his ambiance, like a thick cloak of melancholy weighing heavily on his shoulders.
His face was twisted in a grimace, making smooth wrinkles appear on his forehead and she felt her body tremble slightly with a shiver running down her spine, as he suddenly embodied darkness emanating from every pore of his skin.
She had never seen him so full of rage, even though it was silent, she could feel it. It was a dangerous untamed fury that was threatening to break out and engulf him whole and she pondered on what the seers had said, that ticked his sanity off.
They mounted down on the endless stairs and Rama tried to be as silent as possible like a ghost, trying to be imperceptible from his sight in other to not face his wrath by enraging him with her presence.
They finally arrived at the door and exited out of the seers abode. He moved toward the carriage as if she didn’t exist, not that her existence mattered.
He occupied the carriage and she went in after him, sitting opposite each other. The carriage moved and when she looked outside the window, she saw the two seers standing outside of the tower.
The black cloak concealed their body from view except their faces. Their silver hairs scattered in the wind and their obsidian eyes with golden sclera emanated a magnifying gaze that sucked her into it like a magnetic force.
They were identical in every inch and she soon realized they were triplets. Their ethereal sight and captivating beauty left her dazed, until their carriage moved farther away from them and their presence faded into the thick fog.
She continued staring out the window nevertheless as she avoided Draco’s gaze like a plague. He was quiet, too quiet but she could feel the thick darkness oozing from him, making her feel suffocated in the carriage with him and she moved with unease.
While she stared out of the carriage, she pondered on the seers words that her fate as a queen was sealed and the thought made her loosen up a little.
"There’s no hope for you Rama, so stop grinning like an idiot." Draco’s dark voice brought her our of her trance with a gasp as she whipped her face toward him.
She had totally forgotten he could read minds and she pressed her lips shut, not arguing with him or giving a retort as he was in a no nonsense mood. She still wanted her limbs attached.
"If their predictions were so accurate, why didn’t they foresee her death?" Draco muttered in a low tune beneath his breath and she saw his red eyes gleam with an indiscernable emotion.
She didn’t give a reply and merely continued watching out the window where the expanse of land was still concealed with thick fog.
"Why so quiet?" She heard Draco’s voice whisk into her ears and she felt goosebumps materialize on her skin, but still she maintained a straight face as she turned her face to look at him.
"I’m just thinking about the seers." She remarked.
"What about the seers?" He queried in a flat tone with a straight countenance. There was no mischievousness in his eyes, or the usual sinister smirk his face retained and she realized just how much the seers words had an impact on him.
"Nothing, just what they said about me, but you said it isn’t true, so never mind." Rama said in one breath and frantically continued staring out the window. Silence ensued, but she felt his fixated gaze on her that lingered without averting it.
She turned to face him with creased brows and wasn’t surprised to meet his unwavering gaze fixated on her.
"Why are you staring at me, my lord?" She queried with a slightly irritated tone.
"I’m amused that you really believe the humans and witches can kill me." Draco said with a disbelieving scoff. She didn’t fully believe it was the reason he was staring at her, he always did that whether she caught him staring or not.
"Because you’re immortal?" She stated almost immediately in a rushed tone, but he didn’t reply anymore.
"Do all the night creatures retain immortality too?" She queried out of curiosity.
"Stop asking questions, it ticks me off." Draco replied blatantly and she rolled her eyes as he was looking out the window.
"Not as much as the seers did. I never really understood what they implied." Rama said in a gentle voice to avoid ticking him off and his gaze suddenly averted from the window to stop on her.
"Do you want to know?" He queried with a rather expressionless countenance and she meekly nodded.
"After telling you what you want to know, I’ll kill you." Draco added in and her face almost turned pale.
"It’s better if I don’t know then." Rama said in a nervous way as she gulped softly and heavy silence ensued, making the uneasiness in the carriage intensify with every passing second.
It was too awkward with Draco not portraying his usual egoistic and arrogant personality, and she hated the fact she had already grown used to it. He wasn’t supposed to grow on her, it was all wrong.
She continued staring out the thick fog from the window, as she breathed out softly with puffs of white smoke leaving her lips from the cold.
An impulsive unknown force was suddenly employed on the carriage, causing it to almost fall over but it halted instead with a hollow dent on the side where the hit was employed.
A yelp escaped her lips as her heart pace elevated from the obvious attack in a deteriorated state. Draco sat still for a second nonchalantly, he wasn’t in the least fazed by the unknown attack and was rather irked.
Rama’s eyes darted back and forth from the carriage to the windows and her soul almost departed from her body, when she saw a dark figure moving in the thick fog, which slowly dissipated to reveal a scrawny creature with spikes shooting out of its back.
The hideous creature snarled at them with gleaming black eyes with not a hint of white in it. It lunged at them with unimaginably long claws and Rama suddenly moved back.
She had never encountered such creatures in her life and she soon realized it was a paranormal creature, provoked from darkness.
The creature’s claws impaled through the carriage, as it growled with jagged fangs. It’s hand shot into the carriage, reaching for Rama and she screamed hysterically as she backed away from it, while the carriage moved with force employed from the creature’s movement.
Another clawed hand shot out from the carriage with splinters of wood falling from the effect. The hand punctured through the carriage just above her and she shrieked with heart racing in fear as the claw reached for her head, but she swiftly dodged it, crouching on the floor of the carriage while Draco merely watched her with a sinister grin which made it obvious he was enjoying her plight.
More clawed hands penetrated into the carriage and Rama soon gave up dodging as the carriage was torn to shreds by the feral creatures who slashed through the carriage relentlessly to slay them.
A clawed hand reached out for her and she finally accepted her fate. At least, she’d be free from the burden called living along with the grief and misery engulfing her.
Before she could process what had transpired, Draco disappeared from his position to appear in front of her and the creature’s amputated arm dropped on the floor of the carriage with blood spurting out as Draco tore its arm apart.
He drove a hard kick, taking down whatever remained of the door obstructing his way and exited out of the carriage while dragging Rama out along with him.
A deep sigh of relief escaped her lips, but when the thick fog gradually dissipated to reveal the blood thirsty creatures, her skin crawled in dread.
