Chapter 162: The Soiree V
Chapter 162: The Soiree V
As the maids prepared her for the evening event in her private chamber, she was lost in her own world, constantly thinking of those three words he had said to her before she left.
She managed to stifle the grin that was threatening to break through her lips as she blushed like a high schooler who got accepted by her crush.
His crimson gaze whirling with the tenderness of his spoken words, conveyed the earnest message in ways that left her flustered beyond measure, but her lips failed to reciprocate the word as she immediately turned timid, under his intense gaze as he spouted those words, he left her frozen with nervousness.
Still shaken with disbelief that Draco had uttered those words, her heart reeled with thrill, but somehow she managed to maintain a straight face as the maids prepared her for the Soiree.
As the thought of his words crammed her head, a maid’s hand slipped in putting the obsidian hair pin in her hair, resulting to a slight prick in her skull. She hissed "Ouch!" as she felt the hair pin stab her skull, although it wasn’t enough to cause a major damage, but she couldn’t stifle the wince as it was unexpected.
The maids gasped in horror with widened eyes as they fell to their knees even though it was only one of them responsible for the mistake. They bowed to her feet apologetically with teary eyes as they pleaded for forgiveness, rubbing their palms together. "Please forgive me your highness, it was honestly a mistake." The maids chanted.
It wasn’t surprising they all saw her as a monster after Draco’s cruel display there other day because a maid had insulted her, death was their expectation after pricking her with the hairpin even though it drew only a tiny drop of her blood.
"It’s alright, you’re forgiven, so you can proceed." She said in a flat tone.
The maids exchanged confused glances as they slowly stood on their feet, bowing their head they chanted again "Thank you, your highness."
With trembling hands in fear they dressed her up, they had already foreseen their future of getting beheaded in the hands of the vampire king for such a measly mistake, but now the Queen had forgave them, surely she knew they would gossip about it with the other maids, how merciful the Queen had been by sparing their heads.
As expected, they showered her with praises after they were done and they weren’t far from spitting the truth either as she looked ravishing.
She was clad in an off shouldered, lacy black straight gown that revealed her curves, golden ornate embroideries danced seamlessly over the fabric, obsidian stones were scattered over the chest area.
Her hair was styled in loose waves down her back and finally, an obsidian necklace of a snake eating its tail was worn around her neck as they removed the enchanted ruby necklace she always had on, she wanted to keep it on, but apparently the code dressing was black.
Dismissing the maids after they were done, she sat patiently waiting for Draco, even though inwardly she dreaded encountering Lucifer again, but she was well aware he wouldn’t show his face anywhere near her again until the day when he was ready to strike, it unnerved her, but knowing Draco was beside her, she felt a sense of comfort.
The creaking sound of the door as it opened broke her out of her reverie and with a shuddering breath she turned around as she felt that familiar presence which was hard for her to distinguish between Draco and his father.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips when her eyes met the crimson ember ones of Draco, she realized his eyes must have been her favourite thing about him, those twin orbs of blood diamonds that seemed as if living flames of hell burned through them always left her mesmerized, the windows to his deep adoration toward her, a reflection of the bond they shared.
As always, he was clad in a regal black attire, it had always been his dress code, still yet she found it hard to tear her gaze off this sinfully beautiful temptation as she gaped at his magnificent sight.
He approached her while she sat glued to the chair, his beauty trapping her in the snares of a mesmerizing cage.
Hands massaging her bare shoulders gently, he leaned down on her ear and whispered "You always look like temptation, clothed or not." His deep, husky voice rang in her ears.
His intimate closeness and the burning touch of his hands on her shoulders mixed with his intoxicating signature scent made her brain melt.
He planted a firm kiss on the nook of her slender neck before standing straight, shoulders squared as he extended his hand to her.
She took it as she stood on her feet, not fully quite regaining her composure, no one ever could if they had to stare at the sight of him all day.
Without warning, she locked her arms around his neck and stole a short but firm kiss, it was simply hard for her to resist and neither did he as he kissed her back before pulling away.
"Rama, you can kiss me as much as you want, but now its time for an execution." He whispered to her, a lopsided smirk hanging on the edge of his lips.
"Only kissing?" She queried with a mischievous glint in her eyes, a sarcastic smirk curving the edge of her lips up to reveal her beautiful white pearls.
"For now." He said with a stern expression as he interlocked his fingers with her, pulling her gently as they proceeded for the main hall where the event would take place.
She didn’t say anymore even though she was quite disappointed with his reply.
The looming double doors in front of them creaked open with a rumbling sound to reveal the interior of the main hall which was adorned in black, from the banners to the ornate table cloths and the tapestries.
Scampering around, high class vampires clad in black outfits moved about in the hall grounds, a gloomy harmony resonating from the violinist in a dark corner of the room.
The chandelier hanging above the high ceiling emitted its dim light on everything it touched, from the people to the food and a towering ebony chocolate cake seated atop a table as if celebrating the execution of whoever the culprit was.
As they stepped into the hall, everyone halted at the commanding presence of the most powerful couple in the realm and they all bowed in graceful symphony acknowledging their air of authority.
Red eyes dropped on them from all corners of the room as they took their respectful seats, while Draco subtly led her to their throne seats at the scaffold positioned in the far corner of the room away from the seated crowd, the throne of the king and queen.
Jealous crimson gazes gleamed from the dark corners, watchful prying gazes shot a sidelong look at the vampire king’s bride and the devil son’s mate, some disgust at the union flashed across their eyes, others were left mesmerized by the sight of his bride, she was a beauty, one that caught their attention.
Their thrones were sculpted from obsidian stones itself, pulsating with an otherworldly force as if the thrones itself acknowledged the powerful couples. Their thrones were of the exact size and sculpted in similar designs, she was confused on which one was hers or the king.
She waited for Draco to take a seat before she took hers, not wanting to seat on the King’s seat and embarrass herself in front of the red eyed guests.
As the hall settled into silence, everyone waited with bated breath for the king to speak. As silence engulfed the hall, her gaze darted around from the high place as she scrutinized the guests among them.
Her gaze momentarily fell on a familiar face and her stomach suddenly churned in unease, her lips quivered in guilt when her eyes met Damien seated among the guests. As soon as their gazes locked, she averted her gaze in a rush, heart pounding in guilt.
She swallowed in anxiousness until she heard Draco’s gruff voice reverberate like a thunderstorm through the room.
"On this beautiful night, I’ve hosted this event to announce a surprising discovery." He paused, leaving the crowd in suspense.
"A certain someone was gullible enough to believe he...or she..could get rid of my queen, how amusing, isn’t it? It’s amusing because not only did this culprit who attempted to murder my wife disrespect us, this culprit was naive enough to underestimate me, how entertaining, isn’t it?" He chuckled amused, a sadistic glint gleaming in his red eyes.
A slight murmur resonated among the crowd in utter disbelief, shock masking the faces of the guests. No one was reckless enough to cross the vampire king, no matter how much they despised the queen, it was rather a quick ticket to their doom.
"Silence! a new guest is joining us." Draco commanded with an air of authority and the room suddenly fell in silence as they all waited in suspense.
Red eyes fixated on the double doors as it creaked open to reveal two figures emerging into the room, while a tall imposing figure strut into the room with elegance and stiff shoulders, in one hand the second figure was held captive by the neck as he pushed her roughly onto the wall.
Rama’s eyes dilated when she saw Zamiel walking in with Onyx being gripped by the neck.
