The Demon King's First General
Chapter 73: My Ecstasy

Chapter 73: My Ecstasy

"As of now, yes," Zeno answered Kizeler’s query.

Then he went into a nearby tree and gently placed the woman beside it in a sitting position while her back was leaning against the trunk.

"What?" Kizeler yelled, trying to understand the demon.

The next second, he noticed the sudden change in scenery. The ice-cold lake was destroyed, and several glaciers protruded from its surface. The frozen water now had streams flowing across the chunks of ice. Trees surrounding the coast had fallen, and there were traces of black lightning flickering around the place.

"What a fearsome battle!" He added while shaking his head.

Then he headed towards Zeno while picking a glance at the woman by his side. Her blue lips, which matched perfectly with her pale-white skin, caught his attention.

Kizeler wanted to satisfy his curiosity about the woman, but upon seeing Zeno’s solemn expression, he chose to stay quiet in the meantime.

Meanwhile, like the human behind him, Zeno kept staring at the woman’s face as if he were memorizing every detail of her facial features.

’To think that this meek-looking person fought toe to toe against me a few moments earlier,’ he thought.

Then he tapped the red dice dangling from his ear, and a small dot of light stuck to his fingertip. Afterward, he put it in his mouth and leaned closer to the woman.

He held her chin and raised it a little bit. Then he closed his eyes, and like a gentle butterfly, he let his lips brush against hers. Zeno enjoyed the softness of her lips, and the kiss lasted for a few seconds before he transferred the small bead of white light that he placed on his mouth awhile ago.

Then, as he parted from the woman, her hand made a sudden movement before slapping him on the face. However, Zeno caught her arm, and a vicious smile curled at his lips.

"What was that for?" Ruq’oyah asked as soon as she opened her eyes and glared at the demon.

There was no intonation in her words, and her way of speaking was calm, yet the air was filled with intense pressure all of a sudden. Meanwhile, Kizeler’s eyes widened upon seeing what the demon did, but he remained still and waited for the scenes to unfold.

"That’s the payment for bringing you outside," Zeno replied, smiling.

Then he stood up and walked towards a bush; seconds later, he came back with a horned snowshoe hare in his hand.

"Absorb it; you need to eat and heal your arm," he said as he extended his hand to the woman to give the little monster.

"Can I have this human instead? I won’t be satisfied with that," Ruq’oyah answered before taking a glance at Kizeler.

Upon hearing him, Kizeler stepped backward and facepalmed. He wanted to argue, but he chose to stay silent and just let the demon handle things.

Contrary to his expectations, Zeno let out a soft laugh as soon as he heard the revenant.

"Just take this for now; that man is for later," he replied with a smirk.

"Hey! Are you for real?" Kizeler exclaimed, voicing out his own opinion, but was soon dumbfounded as a strange scent wafted across his nostrils.

"W-wait... Her smell. W-what is she? She definitely smells like a corpse. Is she an undead?" He asked.

"Yes, a special one, though. A revenant, to be exact," Zeno replied.

"R-reve-enant?" Kizeler stuttered.

It was his first time hearing such a term.

’A soul devourer and now a revenant, I’m getting surrounded by strange kinds of demons,’ he thought.

Without a word, Ruq’oyah snatched the little creature from Zeno’s hand and put it next to her face. With just a few inches from her lips, she squeezed the creature’s back, making it cry in agony until a blue, light wisp came out of its mouth, which she sucked away without hesitation. In no less than three breaths, the life force dispersed from the monster, and its head and long ears fell on her hand.

"Not that bad," Ruq’oyah said, tossing the already withered creature aside.

The injuries to her arm vanished bit by bit until there was nothing left. Then she stood up and faced the demon standing right before her eyes.

"How can I repay this favor?" She asked.

"You don’t have to." Zeno paused and turned around before continuing.

"You’re now free; do whatever you want; there’s no need to stick with me," he said as soon as he looked at the moon hanging above the dark night sky. His eyes appeared still, dull, and lifeless. He stayed like that as the passing wind blew his silver hair backward, making it glitter under the moonlight.

. . . . .

"Zeno! Are you here?" said a woman while walking in a meadow filled with different kinds of flowers.

She looked around her, searching while going straight to the center of the grassland. A large maple tree sat in the middle of the place. The moment she reached the shade of it, a pair of hands covered her eyes from behind, but she remained calm and still.

"Quit it; I know it’s you," she said, and a smile blossomed from her lips.

As soon as she removed the palms from her head, she turned around and hugged the owner of the hands. She looked up and stared at his eyes for a few seconds before burying her face in his chest.

"I miss you," she whispered.

Without further ado, the man returned her embrace and gave her a light kiss on the head. His smile was so warm that even the weather would be shy if a raindrop fell and ruined its bright atmosphere.

"Forgive my incompetence; it took me so long to be able to meet you here," the man apologized.

But the woman shook her head and looked up. She gazed at the lifeless eyes staring back at her.

"No worries," she said, smiling.

"Even I have difficulties sneaking out of my father’s knights," she added.

The next second, she reached for the man’s earring as soon as her eyes took notice of it.

"I really want to have something like this," she uttered while pouting.

"But it’s one of a kind; you can have the black one if you want," the man replied.

Upon hearing his answer, the woman shook her head.

"I don’t want to take your precious items, but any accessories will do if they have a dice on them," she said, freeing herself from the man’s embrace.

Afterward, she ran back into the field of flowers and called out for the man.

"Hey, Demon General! Let’s hunt something to eat!" She yelled, her voice filled with excitement.

Zeno stared at her and admired her enchanting beauty before following her into the meadows.

’I always forget who I really am when I’m with her,’ he thought, shaking his head.

Upon seeing Zeno take his time strolling, the woman went back and reached for his hand.

"Faster! I need to get home before sunset," she said as she dragged the demon into the nearby woodland.

Afterward, the two of them searched for monsters to eat; they hunted small creatures and put their meat on skewers. Zeno handled the hunting while the woman prepared the fire. They lit up dried tree branches and roasted the monster’s meat.

The demon kept staring at the woman. He insisted on helping her several times, but she rejected him for a simple reason that made the demon’s smile arc on his lips.

"Just stay there and wait for me to finish here," she said.

"I won’t let you do all the work," she added after glancing at the man.

Like she wanted, Zeno just stared at her the whole time; he watched her hands perform delicate moves butchering the other monsters they caught.

"How come a princess is so good at things like these?" He asked, teasing the young woman.

"No matter what the status, a person should have a secret of a one and two," the woman replied and winked at the demon.

Upon hearing her answer, Zeno shook his head while still wearing his smile, then he leaned on a tree and looked up above before closing his eyes.

’I hope this never ends,’ he thought.

The woman glanced at him and asked a question as soon as she saw the demon’s strange actions.

"What are you thinking?" She stated.

Zeno stayed still for a moment before replying.

"Nothing; I’m just wondering if we can stay like this for eternity," he muttered.

The woman put the pieces of meat down. She went towards the demon.

Zeno felt her presence moving towards him, but he remained still. However, the sudden softness of her palm caressing his skin made him open his eyes and look down.

"And where is this sentiment coming from?" The woman asked, her hands holding the demon’s face.

Zeno shook his head and tucked the disaligned hair behind her left ear before proceeding to stare at her maple-colored eyes.

"Should I turn you into a demon right now? After all, humans have such a short lifespan," he said.

"Go ahead, but I want to be a vampire," she replied before showing her fangs.

Upon seeing her reaction, Zeno chuckled without saying a word, then pulled her closer into himself through an embrace.

"You don’t have anything to worry about; as long as I’m alive, I will be forever at your side. Remember, in this endless journey called life, I will always choose you as my ecstasy," the woman stated, out of nowhere.

The next second, she stood using the tip of her feet and hung her hands at the demon’s nape. Then she pulled his face toward herself.

An ear-piercing silence enveloped the place. Their lips met while their concept of time dwindled as their kiss became more intense and fervent.

Even the burnt smell of roasted meat failed to separate the two from showing their intimacy towards each other—the forbidden affection of a demon and a human, with the entirety of the forest as their witness.
