The Demon King's First General
Chapter 122: Fear of Being Hunted

Chapter 122: Fear of Being Hunted

A few moments ago, inside the castle grounds, while the Nyx Triangle was busy subjugating the Stringless Puppeteer, the king, along with Kizeler and Arctic, were dealing with the doll monster with several heads and arms.

Despite their advantage in number, the monster remained unstoppable; it wreaked havoc, not paying any attention to the damage it caused around the place.

Kizeler, without his Legacy’s help, was nothing but a foot soldier, though he could still give Arctic several seconds to catch her breath. Even the king’s ice magic was not enough to pin down the monster.

"This is hopeless; how should we kill that thing?" Kizeler panted as he made a few steps backward to rest.

"It’s almost immune to elemental attacks, and we’re nowhere near in terms of power," he blurted out as he looked at Arctic’s back.

The next second, he sighed and strengthened his grip on his sword before jumping in to face the monster once more.

"We can’t outrun it either. Let’s just hope that those guys will be able to finish the puppeteer before we all die," Arctic replied to Kizeler’s worries.

She blocked the doll monster’s hand with a giant ice wall, while the king took the opportunity to send a barrage of ice daggers towards the creature.

But the monster still managed to parry each of the shards.

"We need to do something about those arms!" The king suggested.

"How? It’s so tough, and besides..." Kizeler answered, but paused for a while as he bent his body backward to dodge a blade incoming to cut him.

"Can you just encase it in ice?" He asked, yelling upon getting up on his feet.

"It’s impossible, but let me try," Arctic replied, and she stabbed her sword on the ground, letting go of it.

Then she closed her eyes, and the already chilling temperature dropped even further. The surrounding area began to be covered with ice, while the amount of snow falling from above increased tenfold. Seconds later, it turned into a raging blizzard that swept across the battlefield.

Kizeler hugged himself due to the sudden chill he felt.

"T-This is a d-domain," he said, amazement flashing from his eyes.

The woman beside him had the same age as him, yet she could release a monstrous amount of energy to keep her Legacy active.

Inside the domain, the things that were exposed in the blizzard turned into ice sculptures; even the doll monster was not an exception. Those powerful limbs and countless heads were soon covered in ice.

While Kizeler was shivering in the cold, the king wasn’t bothering at all. He stared at his daughter with his eyes filled with pride.

’She will surpass me soon,’ he thought.

However, his mind went blank as she saw Arctic fall to her knees.

"Arctic!" He exclaimed, and he rushed towards her daughter, who was now catching her breath and clenching her chest.

"Energy burnout," he uttered, panicking while trying to channel some of his energy to stabilize the princess’ condition.

The blizzard came to a halt, and seconds later, cracks from the ice enveloping the doll monster appeared. Then, as soon as it was freed, it let out a heavy roar before charging to Arctic’s position. It’s eyes showed extreme hostility towards the woman, who took away its freedom for a few moments.

Without a second thought, Kizeler sprinted all the way from the backline to block the monster’s path.

"Hey, old man! Take her to safety!" Kizeler yelled as he focused all of his energy on his arms.

"But-" The king was about to retort, but the young patriarch’s shout made him stop talking.

"Move! Hurry!" He ordered as he did his best to deflect all the monster’s sword slashes.

Upon seeing this, the king gulped and nodded. Then he picked up his daughter and ran. He saw Polar from a distance and decided to let her nurse Arctic for a while.

"Transfer some of your energy; I’ll go back and help that young man," he said before entering the battle once more.

While he was running, a frozen sword materialized from his left hand, but his eyes scanned the area and saw the weapon Arctic wielded earlier. Then he gazed at the man struggling to fight the monster alone.

He saw nothing special in the man aside from the strange purple left eye he saw earlier; however, his determination to defend them against a powerful foe moved him.

"I should not let the youngsters suffer," he expressed himself, then he moved towards the weapon.

The one he created from ice shattered as he let go of it, and then he picked up the sword that his daughter was wielding a few moments ago.

It was his very own sword during his prime. Like a forgotten flower that bloomed all of a sudden after meeting its lost owner, it emitted mist before ice began to crawl into the king’s hand all the way to his head. Half of his body was covered with ice while the sword’s blade changed shape. From an ordinary double-edged sword made of stainless steel, one of its sides began to have icicles longer than its hilt, while the other side became wider and sharper due to ice.

"Have you missed me, partner?" The king whispered, smiling.

The next second, he made a horizontal slash upward, aiming for the doll monster’s huge body. An ear-shattering sound reverberated into the castleground as sharp glaciers emerged from the ground, destroying and freezing everything on its path.

Kizeler, who felt the sudden surge of ice energy behind him, leaped sideward; if he was a second late in doing so, he would be caught by the king’s attack.

The glaciers pierced the monster, leaving a huge hole in its body. Confused by what happened, the creature dazed for a moment. During this period, all of its arms from the right side were cut off, and ice bloomed from the damaged part.

"Hmnn, I can still fight like I used to," the king murmured before giving the monster a heavy kick.

However, his strength was not enough to send it flying, so he just made an icicle protrude on the sole of his foot, giving another injury to the doll’s body.

While standing on the sidelines, Kizeler was mesmerized by the king’s fighting prowess.

"You should have done that earlier, damn old man! You made me nervous for nothing," he commented, shaking his head.

Though somewhat satisfied by the king’s performance, he didn’t let his guard down. He looked for an opening to help the old man give the final blow, but reality was different from his expectations.

The moment his hope arose, a silhouette approached him from the back, and with a swing of a giant hand, the next thing he knew was that he was lying on the ground with his body, deprived of sensation.

He lifted his head to analyze what happened, but upon seeing the three people also lying on the cold cement floor, he lost his reason to stand up.

’We’re doomed,’ he thought.

. . . . .

Several moments earlier, Djaneryse was playing with the trio without exerting too much effort; she wanted to toy with them as much as she pleased; however, Rain’s signature energy vanished without a trace, making the puppeteer anxious.

That was the time she started to take the fight with all her might.

The smile on her lips that suited her face in a perfect way was nowhere to be seen; instead, a dejected feeling was painted now from her eyes.

’Did that moron leave me behind?’ Djaneryse thought, wanting to strangle Rain if that was really the case.

"Mr. Fluffy, destroy them," she ordered, and like a wild beast that received permission to wreak havoc, the doll monster’s eyes revealed a bloody glow, the stitch on its face that acted as its mouth curled upward, and the nightmare began to unfold.

. . . . .

Londaire was irritated, but he never lost his calm while fighting Djaneryse. They were exchanging blows after blows, but they never gained even a slight advantage. Aside from this, the smile on the woman’s lips was taking a toll on his mentality; he felt that their efforts were futile. However, as the Frostbloom Kingdom’s pride, he rejected the idea; he didn’t want to disappoint the king.

But everything changed in an instant; the doll monster, whose speed was still visible to them, became faster all of a sudden.

It disappeared from Londaire’s point of view, and afterward, Sena and Lumiel collapsed on the ground as they received a heavy punch from the monster. Both of them lost their consciousness at the same time. Even though they were Diamond-class mercenaries, they didn’t have enough tenacity to withstand a direct blow from Mr. Fluffy.

The moment Londaire turned around, he saw the smile on the vicious doll while the gorgeous lad sitting on its shoulder had a grim expression.

"S-Sena, Lumiel," he whispered, calling out his companions.

For the first time in his life, he felt the fear of being hunted.

. . . . .

Meanwhile, a few kilometers away from Winterbell City, the group of knights sighed with relief upon realizing that they were just distances away from the capital.

However, they still had a worried expression painted on their faces, with the exception of the lady at the back of them, Princess Uoiea was all smiles as she stared at the white dice dangling from her bracelet. It was trembling and spinning non-stop, as if it wanted to be released from her wrist.

"Now, this is new," she whispered, her voice filled with excitement.
