Chapter 123: Hexad

After the king cut the doll monster’s head from its body, he noticed the puppeteer, along with the other doll, staring at him from behind.

He turned his head and glanced at the individuals lying on the ground; snow had accumulated on their bodies. He let out a deep breath upon realizing that his precious students were still alive, though their condition was quite terrible.

"Should I thank you for not killing them?" The king asked as soon as his gaze met the puppeteer’s eyes.

"They are my precious collections, and so are you and those daughters of yours. Why would I destroy the things I like?" Djaneryse replied.

Her tone was so serious that the king felt nervous just hearing her words. The solemn and playful attitude she showed before couldn’t be seen in her current self.

Afterward, the king shook his head for a second and stabbed his sword on the ground.

"I’ll be honest with you; seeing my state and your state right now, I admit I don’t have any chance to win against you." He paused, then let go of his sword.

"So, I have a pro-" He didn’t have enough time to speak as the doll tackled him with its inhumane speed.

In a split second, he found himself stuck into a pillar, but the monster didn’t stop right there. It pulled back both of its arms and began to punch his head multiple times.

The king still managed to protect himself by creating a thick layer of ice in front of his face. However, with Mr. Fluffy’s every blow, the ice shattered, and then blood and several pieces of flesh spat at the monster’s fist the next second.

Afterward, the pillar crumbled into dust, and its foundation failed to handle consecutive strikes from the monster. The king was buried in that very moment, but the doll pulled him on his clothes and slammed him on the ground.

"Those who are weaker have no qualifications to negotiate for their lives," Djaneryse stated while looking at the headless body lying on the ground.

. . . . .

Meanwhile, Polar, who was doing her best not to make a sound, couldn’t stop her tears from flowing as she saw her father’s corpse.

A few moments ago, she was busy sharing some of her energy with Arctic when she heard a crackling sound. It piqued her curiosity, and her fear started to eat away at her thoughts after silence covered the castle.

That was the moment she built up her courage to peek at the battlefield once more; however, upon seeing the headless body with his father’s clothes, she fell on her knees and lost all of her strength.

’No! Father!’ She yelled inside her thoughts while weeping in silence.

She wanted to scream but was afraid that the Stringless Puppeteer would find her location. Feeling hopeless and worthless, she glanced at her side.

A meter away from her, Arctic lied down, sleeping so soundly. Upon seeing this, Polar wiped the tears from her face and crawled back to her sister; her hands were trembling as she moved little by little.

"There you are." A sweet yet arrogant voice came behind Polar.

These three words made her gulp a mouthful of saliva and made her freeze on the spot; she didn’t dare to turn around and look. Even though she was doing her best not to produce any sound, Djaneryse still found her.

The next second, the corridor was filled with the clanking sound from the intruder’s heels. The tears she did her best to suppress from flowing returned and drifted down her cheeks.

"You should not fear me; I don’t intend to harm you," Djaneryse stated as she halted her steps.

"Look at Mr. Fluffy; I considered him my family, and that would be the same for the both of you," she added with the most pleasing tone she could muster.

Polar remained still, even though the words she heard were like music to her ear. The fact that they came from the person who killed her father made her anger rise.

"Here, come and take my hand," Djaneryse said, doing her best to persuade the princess.

However, red lightning jolted in her direction all of a sudden, but Mr. Fluffy managed to grab her at that very moment and placed her behind its back. The lightning created an explosion and destroyed the corridor’s wall.

"Polar! Arctic!" A familiar voice echoed inside the place.

Polar looked where the shout came from.

"Brother!" She wailed.

Flynn didn’t waste a single second; the moment he saw his sisters, he grabbed the unconscious Arctic and pulled Polar inside the castle.

"Brother... Father... Father is..." Polar sobbed like a child and couldn’t finish the words she wanted to say.

"I know, I see it too. You need to be strong! We can overcome this; I’ve brought someone to help us," Flynn reassured her.

Polar’s eyes lit up, though the traces of tears still affected her vision. She halted for a second, which also caused Flynn to stop running. He turned around and looked at his sister.

The princess cleared her throat and asked. "Who? Is it the hero’s party? Or is it the emperor himself?"

But upon seeing her brother shake his head without a second thought, disappointment flashed into the princess’ face.

"It’s the princess who’s come to extend her help," Flynn answered.

Polar’s jaw dropped as soon as she heard her brother’s claims. From a disappointed look, it turned into a surprised expression.

’Are you crazy?’ Polar didn’t speak, but these words could be seen written as clearly as day from her face.

. . . . .

"Red lightning? I’ve never heard nor seen something like that before," Djaneryse expressed as she looked back at the woman whose left hand had flickering bolts of electricity.

"Of course! Because I created this type, even the Spirit King’s green lightning will pale in comparison when it comes to strength," Uoiea explained, smiling.

Despite her positive attitude, she felt a little sad knowing that they arrived late and the Frostbloom King was already dead.

Djaneryse laughed upon hearing the princess’ statement. She knew how great the Spirit King was; however, she didn’t really care.

In fact, she considered that entity to be nothing but a spirit who learned how to fight.

"I’ll be more afraid if you mention that purple flame." Djaneryse chuckled as she spoke.

"That old man and his sons are truly a pain," she added.

Then, without further ado, she clapped, and Mr. Fluffy’s eyes flickered with excitement. The doll monster jumped up high and plunged towards the woman with its fist, aiming for a punch.

Uoiea dashed forward to evade, and she flicked several lightning bolts in the puppeteer’s direction, but Djaneryse blocked them with ease. She just waved her hand, and several dolls in ethereal forms appeared in front of her, absorbing each lightning through their mouths. Then they vanished into thin air, and red lightning started to envelop Mr. Fluffy.

Claws protruded from the doll’s hands before slashing into the air. Red, turbulent waves of energy tore open space as they chased Uoiea from behind. Then Mr. Fluffy sprinted, holding a lightning spear in both of his hands.

Meanwhile, the empire’s princess glanced at her back, bit her lips, and smiled. She was so excited to fight a strong opponent. If not for the emperor’s order forbidding her to leave the palace, she would roam the world and fight many powerful foes.

"So you can absorb energy-related attacks, huh?" Uoiea uttered.

Then she accelerated her speed; she even left trails of lightning behind. Afterward, she clenched her fist and prepared to punch the puppeteer.

"Based on my observation, you’re not a good close-combat fighter, are you?" Uoiea asked and threw her fist forward.

"Oh, who cares, though? There is someone who’s capable enough to protect me," Djaneryse replied, smiling.

The next second, Mr. Fluffy vanished and appeared right in front of the puppeteer.

The empire’s princess’ eyes widened, but it only lasted for a second as a wide smile emerged from her lips.

"I figured out that much; that would be a shame if a puppeteer had no such ability to recall her puppet," Uoiea said.

Then she shoved her hand into the doll’s abdomen before spinning around, giving another kick aimed at its face. Her attack had no destructive force, as Mr. Fluffy absorbed the lightning energy upon contact.

However, the lightning exploded all of a sudden, and then purple flames engulfed the monster’s body.

Djaneryse’s jaw dropped upon seeing the flame.

"The color of royalty," she murmured, confusion present on her face.

Afterward, she blinked a few times, still unable to believe the reality right before her eyes.

. . . . .

At the same time, in one of the streets of the capital, a silver-haired man lied on the concrete pavement. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was heavy and loud.

"The Hexad is here," he said as he did his best to stand up and walk in the direction of the castle.
