The Dark Extra: Awakening of SSS-Skill Demon Emperor Legacy -
Chapter 123: Surface Adventurers
Chapter 123: Surface Adventurers
Not wanting to stay trapped in this fight any longer, Agares activated one of his ultimate skills—Nihil Severance.
Even though the skill would drain 5000 of his mana, it was a fair price to save his life.
If Agares stubbornly refused to use the skill, he wouldn’t be able to beat all of them easily.
Shadepiercer floated in front of his face, then flew upward and stabbed into the sky. In an instant, the dimensional barrier shattered, revealing the Nihil Dimension—like outer space full of stars and galaxies.
All four knights turned their attention upward, watching as shards of the Nihil Dimension broke through and appeared here.
Agares flapped his wings and tried to pull away from the gray knight’s sword still lodged in his stomach. He did it!
He flew low and landed on the altar floor, but the stab wound caused his HP to keep dropping slowly—and it wasn’t stopping.
That made Agares focus his dark energy manipulation to seal the wound so the blood wouldn’t keep flowing out.
A shadow of the dark god appeared inside the Nihil Dimension. It stretched out a hand and pulled the life threads of the five knights toward it. Red threads extended from their bodies, connected to each of the god’s fingers.
Agares sat down, breathing hard, trying to catch his breath. His pale face lifted up, watching as the knights’ life threads were pulled toward the dark god.
The life essence of the five knights rose from their bodies, leaving them frozen in place, heads tilted up, still staring at Agares’s final attack.
"With that... they won’t survive."
Their life threads were now in the dark god’s giant hand. With a swift motion, he threw the glowing life essence of all five knights into the Nihil Dimension, trapping them there forever.
Agares felt relieved—he had managed to defeat those monster-level knights by relying on the power of his ultimate skill.
But there was one final move the dark god made. He summoned a scythe and swung it down sideways, sending a sweeping scythe slash toward the knights’ bodies.
BLAST!
A purple explosion erupted above the altar, destroying the knights’ bodies and scattering them into dust. Agares wasn’t affected by the blast at all.
After the purple smoke cleared, the shattered dimension started to heal, and Shadepiercer dropped from the sky.
Aoi could only stare—speechless at what she had just seen. She was sure the mysterious figure inside that dimension had something to do with Agares. Maybe it was part of a saber skill he never used lightly.
There was no sign that the knights would respawn. The light in the five small altar circles faded and disappeared.
The dome barrier vanished, and a white glow still shone faintly from the tip of the stone pillar—unchanged from before.
Seeing the barrier disappear, Aoi quickly ran to Agares and began healing him. She wrapped her two tails around Agares’s right arm, the blue markings on her body glowing as she activated her powers.
"Thank you, Aoi."
"What was that just now? Was that your saber skill?" Aoi asked.
"It was."
"Nihil Severance. It causes instant death to anyone."
"Instant death? That’s terrifying and unbeatable."
"Yeah. And it comes with a price," Agares explained.
"A price?"

The difficulty Agares went through in the Advanced Trial made him truly deserve those rewards. The panel in front of his face proved it—the EXP he gained was far more than what he’d gotten from normal floor trials.
That made his level skyrocket from 1 to 5—a huge jump that made his current strength on par with Milenia.
That’s right! Just like he promised her, he would return to Midgard City once he reached the 85th floor. He had spent six days here in total—a short time to rise from the 81st to the 90th floor.
Aoi stopped healing once Agares’s wounds were fully regenerated. She didn’t look tired at all, but Agares still felt sympathy for her.
She had come to this floor with him, but only Agares got the rewards—Aoi didn’t. So Agares felt he had to do something for her.
At the very least, help her reach her third evolution. Agares could sell off extra items to get more monster cores and buy EXP Elixirs for Aoi.
"You’ve recovered, Agares."
"Thanks, you really helped me, Aoi."
"Since I leveled up, I’ll need time to adjust my attributes and skill points."
"Once we’re done, we’ll go home—and I’ll give you lots of EXP Elixirs."
"For what?"
"To help you reach your third evolution."
Aoi smiled, then started hopping around happily, her fox face glowing with excitement. She had been waiting for this moment. She couldn’t wait to see her third tail.
"Of course. I’ll be waiting for you, Agares."
***
Six Months Later.
Midgard City.
A glowing light crystal lit up at the edge of the city. Nan and the crystal guard turned their heads, curious about who had just arrived. Wrapped in blue light, Agares and Aoi arrived—just as he promised Milenia.
Every time he came back, Agares saw that Midgard City was getting busier with adventurers from the surface. It proved that many talented adventurers had reached at least the 50th floor.
Still, Agares was suspicious about the recent increase in surface adventurers. He was worried there was a bigger reason behind their sudden numbers.
Nan smiled in relief and stepped toward Rey. He knew Agares by the name Rey—Milenia’s husband.
Rey’s return was something both Nan and many of the townsfolk had been waiting for—especially the demonkin.
"Thank goodness you’re back, Lord Rey," Nan said.
Agares raised an eyebrow, curious about Nan’s tone. Nan glanced sideways, and the crystal guard beside him gave a small nod. Nan had to explain the situation—but not here, not in the city.
"Would you mind coming with me to the dungeon?"
Agares went silent—his suspicion growing. Still, he could tell something was off just by how Nan talked.
"Where to?"
"Floor 56 dungeon."
He nodded, pulling out his teleportation token and inviting Nan along. In a flash, they vanished from the light crystal in a burst of blue particles and arrived fully in the hallway of floor 56.
He and Nan had arrived—no one else around to hear their conversation. Nan looked relieved.
"Tell me. What’s going on?"
Nan paused for a moment, then exhaled softly and nodded at Agares’s question. He had to speak—not just about Milenia, but also about Midgard City.
To him, only Rey had the power to deal with this problem.
"Two months after you left, a big wave of surface adventurers started arriving. They quietly formed a group called the Midgard Conquerors."
"Midgard Conquerors?" Agares asked, shocked.
"Yes. Their goal is simple: kidnap Milenia... and crown a new ruler over the city."
"WHAT?!"
