Chapter 113: Homecoming
"Us?" the woman asked.
"We are the elite unit of the Divine Saber. Have you ever heard of the Sovereign Sword Army?" she asked again.
Agares shook his head. He had never heard that name in his entire life. Milenia never mentioned it, and neither did Louise. This was his first time hearing it—from them directly.
"Oh come on, what did you people study in Virelion?"
"Alright then, where’s your squad? Let me meet them."
He stayed silent, and so did Aoi. The woman kept rambling about Virelion and the army. Was her memory stuck in the Virelion era?
"There’s no one."
"Did they die?"
"I’m the last Saber in the world," Agares explained.
"HAHAHA! You’re kidding, right? There’s no way you’d say that—we’re the strongest!"
Agares squinted. Something felt off about them. It was like there was a memory implanted in their minds.
That triggered his suspicion and raised his curiosity.
"Tell me. Who was your last Divine Saber?" asked Agares.
"Leonard!"
"Henry!"
The female Saber said Leonard, while the male Saber said Henry. But the title of the last Divine Saber belonged to Arthur.
Now, Agares had found a tiny piece of the mystery he’d been dealing with.
They came from different time periods.
"Leonard? What number Divine Saber was he? And what about Henry?"
"Leonard was the 15th Divine Saber."
"Henry was the 24th."
Agares nodded. No wonder they kept talking about Virelion and everything else—they probably arrived here back when the outside world was still ruled by the Kingdom of Virelion.
They didn’t know the Saber job was now forbidden. But should he really tell them? He wasn’t sure.
"You’re from different time periods."
"You’re right. We already figured that out," said the male Saber, hands on his hips.
"Then which era are you from?" asked the woman.
"Arthur. The 35th Divine Saber."
"Arthur? I think I’ve heard that name," the woman said.
"Let’s set the whole time period thing aside. What’s going on with your bodies?" Agares asked.
The woman and the man standing in front of Agares smiled. They invited him to walk around the island of the 81st floor while explaining things, but Agares refused.
He didn’t refuse out of fear—he simply couldn’t fly or walk on air. The two Sabers were shocked.
"You haven’t reached the noble stage yet?"
Agares shook his head. Right now, he was at the peak of Officer stage, level 9—just a step away from reaching Noble stage. Hearing this stunned them both.
"You’ll gain flight abilities once you hit Noble stage. My advice—go back to the surface and level up."
"As long as you still carry that Saber mark, you can come and go from this place freely."
Getting that detailed explanation made Agares smile wide and nod. He told them he would come back once he reached the right stage and had mastered flight.
Both Sabers smiled and allowed Agares to leave. He activated the Virelion Gate and stepped out. Now he stood before the gate, satisfied that he had finally seen what was behind it.
"Where are we going?" asked Aoi.
"We’re heading back."
Agares activated his teleportation token and set it to floor 55. After adjusting the settings, he pressed the button in the middle.
He and Aoi teleported from the 80th floor, their presence disappearing in an instant.
At the crystal stone of Midgard City, a blue light flashed from the crystal, showing Agares returning with Aoi.
A month passed. There weren’t many changes in the city’s structure, but the population had grown—more adventurers had come.
"What’s going on?" Agares asked, handing the token to Nan for inspection.
"These past few weeks, lots of single adventurer men came to meet the ruler of the city. They didn’t want to see Goro—they wanted to see Milenia," Nan replied, giving it back.
"Why? What do they want?"
"They want Miss Milenia to ’serve’ them again—even though she’s pregnant," Nan whispered.
"WHAT?!" Agares yelled, full of fury.
He stormed off, sword sheathed in hand, leaving the crystal behind.
For some reason, Agares felt angry and jealous knowing so many men wanted to sleep with Milenia again—even though she was clearly expecting a child.
What kind of lunatic sleeps with a pregnant woman?
From afar, he saw dozens of men calling Milenia’s name with flirtatious lines. When he arrived, he noticed Milenia didn’t show up to greet them.
’Good,’ Agares thought, ’At least she didn’t show her face to them.’
He pushed through the crowd until he stood at the front gate. The two guards didn’t recognize Agares, especially with the earring on. Not surprising—he’d been gone for a whole month.
"Who are you? Step away from Miss Milenia’s residence!" they ordered, lowering their spears.
"Tell her Rey is back."
"Master Rey?" the guard asked, shocked.
Worried they were mistaking him for someone else, they opened the gate and led Rey inside Milenia’s home.
The door opened. Milenia sat inside, looking anxious in her casual clothes. Agares could see her belly had grown a bit since before.
Milenia looked up, eyes narrowing at Agares. She didn’t recognize him. The guard had said he was Rey, but she didn’t believe it.
She raised her hand and trapped Agares in a cage of sharp ice thorns. He didn’t react—he let her examine him all she wanted.
"I’m Rey."
Agares took off the earring, and the glow faded from his body. The handsome black-haired man Milenia missed so much finally appeared. It was Agares.
"Agares?"
Milenia stopped the spell and hugged him tight. They kissed deeply, making the maids and guards reflexively walk out and give them space. Aoi leapt up and landed on Agares’s shoulder.
He and Milenia stopped kissing. Agares gently caressed her belly, praising her for taking such good care of their child.
"How was your journey, Agares?" Milenia asked.
"I’ll tell you everything later. I’ve been a little tired lately."
"Alright. I’ll stay with you while you sleep. The maids will prepare your meal later."
Agares smiled, lifting his hand to softly brush Milenia’s cheek and lovely face.
"Thank you, Milenia."
