Chapter 112: Beyond the 80th Door
After regaining half of his strength and Aoi collapsed weakly, Agares got back up and limped toward the open door in the hallway that led to the entrance of the 81st floor.
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You’ve obtained a dropped item]
[Item:]
[50x Gold Coins]
[1x Heart of Inferno Dragon]
[1x Soulbrand Ember]
[1x A Will Flame Gem]
[1x Dragon Cores]
[25x Monster Core]
Agares stopped walking as his eyes locked on the path ahead. He clearly saw six items he had received—way more than before. High quality, too, all fire-based.
For those with strong fire affinity, these would be like striking gold.
Agares was happy, but not exactly thrilled—his affinity was different, after all.
As usual, he’d just stash the materials away for later. His focus right now was healing up and then helping Aoi recover.
He walked in, helped by his clone. As they stepped into the hallway, the door quietly closed behind them. Agares let out a relieved sigh. He’d made it out alive from the deadly threat of that dragon.
Without that skill earlier, there’s no way he could’ve beaten that red fire dragon.
He tapped his magic pouch and pulled out five HP potions at once. One by one, he drank them. These high-tier potions each gave at least +2000 HP.
Agares gained 10,000 HP total, and his wounds started healing. The bleeding stopped. The fatigue disappeared. He was back to full strength.
He glanced to the side and saw Aoi still lying down with her eyes closed. Agares tapped his pouch again and pulled out three mid-tier Mana potions.
Aoi opened her mouth, letting the mana potion trickle down and restore her energy. A soft green light glowed around her body as Agares helped her recover.
Once the three potions were used up, Agares noticed Aoi slowly opening her eyes. The first person she saw was Agares—not the clone.
"Master Agares..."
"Rest for a bit, Aoi. We’ll head back to the city soon," Agares replied.
Aoi smiled and nodded before closing her eyes again. She curled up on the ground like a little cat and drifted off to sleep.
Agares smiled faintly and stood back up. He turned and deactivated his shadow clone skill.
[-300hp]
[HP: 12300/12600] [-300]
Agares carried Aoi in one arm and continued walking. Suddenly, the smart navigation panel above him disappeared. He stopped in surprise.
"What’s going on, Nyx?" he asked.
[Standby Mode Deactivated]
[This is the final point of the map, Master. I can’t show directions without solid information]
’Hmm... If that’s the case, then maybe Benhur was the one who mapped this place,’ Agares thought.
"Alright. Turn off the smart navigation."
[Understood, Master]
[Smart Navigation Deactivated]
Agares kept walking forward without any real direction or goal. Luckily, after the boss room, there was nothing else—no mystery rooms, no weird traps, nothing.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he came across a wide chamber with a massive tall iron door. Agares squinted at it, intrigued by the carvings on it—similar to those in Benhur’s notes.
’Is this the door he was talking about?’
Not just the door, but there were also papers scattered in front of it. Curiosity grew in Agares as he rushed toward the mysterious papers.
He picked one up and read it. The gist of it was Benhur’s frustration about not being able to figure out how to bypass the Saber door. He had tried destroying it with magic—didn’t work.
He even made a potion to try and become like a Saber—failed.
He tried everything, but still no success. Agares understood, especially after reading how defeated Benhur felt.
"If this door only recognizes those with Saber," he muttered, "then I’m the only one in this world who can open it."
Agares gently laid Aoi on the ground, pulled off his right glove, and revealed the Saber mark on the back of his hand.
A red light glowed from the symbol, shooting a laser at a gem above the door.
The red energy spread across the entire door. It lit up—and slowly opened. The grinding sound of the iron door was loud enough to wake the dead.
CREEEAAAKKK!
It startled Aoi awake.
"What’s happening?" she asked in surprise.
Agares turned and saw her wake up. He apologized for bothering her, but curiosity was eating at him. He had to know what was behind that door.
Why such a specific requirement? Why only Sabers? Could this have something to do with the Saber Knights?
He kept thinking about it. And now, the answer to his burning curiosity was just beyond that door.
Agares stepped into a place filled with blinding light. Both he and Aoi shielded their eyes, unable to see anything ahead.
Gradually, the light faded—and what they saw was something beyond what either of them could’ve imagined.
He had expected another long hallway, full of tougher monsters, just like floors 1 through 80. But he was wrong.
Now he stood at the edge of a cliff, right beyond the door. Below, a vast sea of clouds stretched endlessly.
What was beneath those clouds? Agares had no idea.
He looked up and saw people walking in the sky—as if there were invisible floors.
There were 9 floating islands with towns on them, and 1 giant island holding a palace.
Agares stood there, stunned by the miracle in front of him. The people, the islands, the sea of clouds, the bright blue sky, the lush green trees, the chirp chirp of birds—it all felt so real.
It felt like heaven.
"Where... am I?"
While Agares stood there, completely awestruck, two people from the 81st island approached him. They were casually walking on the sky floor, and Agares immediately grew alert.
"Who are you?"
"Did you come from the Virelion Gate?" asked a woman wearing armor.
"Virelion Gate?"
The woman raised her hand and pointed at the gate behind Agares. She explained that it was called the Virelion Gate because beyond it was the Kingdom of Virelion.
That’s why it had that name.
Agares narrowed his eyes. Standing before him were a man and a woman who looked human, but their skin was blue.
"What is this place really? And who are you? Why is your skin blue?"
